Google Launches New Chromebooks Starting From Rs.12,999

Google India announced the launch of new affordable Chromebooks, the XOLO Chromebook and the Nexian Air Chromebook both priced at Rs. 12,999.

Both the Chromebooks share similar specs. They have a 11.6 inch (1366 x 768 pixels) IPS display and are powered by a 1.8 GHz Rockchip 3288 Quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A17 CPU and has ARM Mali-T764 GPU. These Chromebooks have 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage with expandable memory slot. They have a 1MP (1280×720) webcam, a headphone and a microphone jack. In terms of connectivity they have WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 2.0 port. The 4200 mAh battery gives up to 8-10 hours of working battery life. The products get 100 GB Google Drive cloud storage free for two years.

Chromebooks will be a super­fast boot up machine with built in security and virus protection. It will help students and teachers adopt to new style of learning and teaching. It also comes with Google Apps for Education which will make its purpose worthy to create, learn and collaborate. Administrators can set up and manage up to thousands of Chromebooks from a single computer or phone through the Chromebook Management Console. The products will also be future proof as it will receive regular updates from Google making it better on each update and reducing school’s maintenance and software costs.



Smita Hashim, Global Product Manager, Chrome OS said, “When we introduced Chromebooks four years ago, we wanted to build a laptop for the way people  use  computers  today; always  fast,  easy  to  use,  and  secure  by  default.”

“Since launching Chromebooks in India, we’ve been working to ensure that Chromebooks work in an environment  where  connectivity  can  be  spotty,  and  many  people’s  first experiences  with technology are through a phone rather than a laptop.” she added.

The Xolo Chromebook will be available on Snapdeal at an introductory price of Rs. 12,999 and the Nexian Air Chromebook will be available on for Rs. 12,999. Google said that it will launch the Asus Chromebook Flip, Asus Chromebook C201 and Samsung Chromebook in India in the coming months.
