Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 Leaks, Expected to Launch This Month
While the world awaits the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 6 on April 16, A recent report claims that Xiaomi will most likely launch the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 before the Xiaomi Mi 6 this month.
Though the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is the best bet for the release, nothing has been officially confirmed by the company yet. The Redmi Pro 2 will be the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro, which launched in July 2016. The Redmi Pro, however, is yet to be launched in India and may not see an official launch in the Indian market.
Another report has revealed the expected specifications of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro was the first smartphone from the Xiaomi family to be equipped with a dual camera setup, and the Redmi Pro 2 is expected to follow suit. However, leaks indicate that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will feature a single camera, ditching the dual sensor setup, and replacing with a Sony IMX362, 1/2.55” sensor with a 1.4µm pixel size and dual pixel autofocus. While the Redmi Pro was launched with the Helio X25 processor, Redmi Pro 2 is expected to pack a Snapdragon chipset, possibly the Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is expected to be powered by a 4500 mAh battery, jumping from the 4050 mAh battery that was in the Redmi Pro. Rumors also suggest that the smartphone will have a full-metal body with a 2.5D curved glass front.
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will most likely offer variety in terms of storage, with rumors suggesting that the smartphone will be available in 2 variants: one will pack 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage, while the other will pack 6GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal storage. The 4GB variant is expected to be available at a price of CNY 1599, which roughly amounts to INR 15200 and the 6GB variant will most likely be priced at CNY 1799, which is approximately INR 17200. The availability date of Redmi Pro 2 is presently unknown.
