AutoGyaan: Skoda Rapid is here“To Change the way you move”
Skoda is all set to launch its all new sedan Rapid on 16th November 2011. The Rapid will be based on the Fabia platform and will be a direct competition to the Volkswagen Vento, the Honda City, the Fiat Linea, the Hyundai Verna and the recently launced Ford Fiesta.
The Rapid is heavily based on the VW Vento. So, if you have ever been inside the VW, you will find the Rapid all too familiar. In fact, it also comes with Vento’s unique feature of adjusting the front passenger seat from the rear. Both the petrol and diesel engine displace the same engine capacity of 1.6-litre, and make an identical power output of 105bhp. The torque naturally is much higher in the diesel variant.
The Skoda Rapid has the best combo of style and adventure. The chrome grille at the front is wide and the well placed emblem of Skoda on top of the grille at the front fascia makes for a visual treat. The curves on the side body and the flowing lines add to the beauty of the car.
This car will come in three versions – the Active, the Ambition and the Elegance. Also, all three versions can be bought with either a diesel or a petrol engine coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition, the Ambition and the Elegance can also be ordered with a 6-speed automatic gear box. The Skoda Rapid will have a starting price of Rs. 7 Lac for the entry level model and go up to Rs. 10 Lac for the high end diesel version.
