The French manufacturer seems adamant on building up a strong market share in India. The next step would be the launching of Scala on the 7th of September in India. Based on the Nissan Sunny, new Renault car will be more aggressive and will be seen with features that will quite entirely transform its appearance with no resemblance to plain looking cousin, Sunny. Scala will ride on 15″ alloy wheels. Its interiors are given a beige finish right from its dashboard to seats and door lining while seats of higher variants will be leather upholstered.
Scala will enter the Indian auto industry in the C segment. It will be offered both in petrol and diesel options. Where the petrol variants are concerned, the XH2 engine will be a 1.5 liter generating 99 PS and 134 Nm torque. Its diesel counterpart will possess a 1.5 liter K9K turbo diesel engine with 86 PS and 200 Nm torque. Both petrol and diesel Scala variants be mated to five speed manual transmission. Automatic variant will be launched at a later stage.
The car is expected to come out by Diwali this year. Prices of Renault Scala are expected to be a good Rs.30,000 to Rs.50,000 over and above that of Nissan Sunny. Renault is currently represented by premium segment car Renault Fluence, with the Scala the French manufacturer plans to reach out to a different segment now.
