Micromax A110 Canvas 2 to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update next week
In a surprising move, Micromax has announced that it would be rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the A110 Canvas 2 users starting next week. Undoubtedly one of the most popular devices from the stables of Micromax, the A110 Canvas 2 has been a hit amongst the masses, and the level of popularity can be judged from the fact till recently, it was facing a supply-shortage and was selling a premium in some regions.
Launched back in October 2012, the Micromax A110 Canvas 2 ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, and is still quite in-demand, in-spite of it’s successor, the A116 Canvas HD from hitting the market.
However, there is one downside as Micromax has said the update won’t be an OTA (Over The Air) update and the users won’t even be able to update the OS on Canvas 2 via their PC. Instead, the users would need to go to a Micromax Service Center to update their smartphones. Now that’s sort of a bummer as it would make you invest a lot your time and effort for just updating the operating system on your device.
But irrespective of the fact that you’d have to go to the service center to update your device, we feel that it’s a good start by Micromax to provide service to it’s customers and it would most probably get better in the future. Also, we can hope that other Indian manufacturers too start following and provide better support as far as software updates are concerned.
