As announced by Micromax last week, the company has released the Android Jelly bean update for one of it’s most popular smartphones till date, the A110 Canvas 2. The Micromax A110 Canvas 2 has been a hit amongst the masses, and the level of popularity can be judged from the fact till recently, it was facing a supply-shortage and was selling a premium in some regions.
But a big downside about this update is that Micromax won’t be giving it to it’s users Over The Air (OTA), Instead, the users would need to go to a Micromax Service Center to update their smartphones.
However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge and know the tidbits of flashing a ROM, the update file is also available on Micromax’s website and even at XDA Develpoers with detailed instructions on how to flash it on your device. The total size of the update file is 282.40MB and when flashed, will update your Micromax A110 Canvas 2 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
The two most important features that the Jelly Bean update would bring to the Micromax A110 Canvas 2 are, Project Butter, which would help the users to enjoy a lag-free experience on their devices, all thanks to the tweaks like “vsync timing”, “triple buffering”, etc. which Google has made to Android Jelly Bean and also, Google Now, which provides the users with real-time information and updates.
Micromax isn’t exactly known for providing software updates to it’s smartphones but this move is surely a good start by the Indian-smartphone maker and we hope other Indian manufacturers follow the trend and start giving software updates to their smartphones.
