Audi Q3-S to Launch August 19
Audi is set to launch the Audi Q3-S in India on August 19. The Audi Q3-S is a trimmed version of the Audi Q3 and will come with a front wheel drive layout as opposed to the top end models. This will be the base variant of Audi Q3 and its de-tuned 2.0 TDI motor produces 142PS power as opposed to the 180PS, which the standard Q3 makes with the Quattro system.
Audi Q3-S is expected to be around Rs 25 lakh, but we think that Audi might want to price it a bit over Rs 24 lakhs to compete with the likes of Mercedes A-Class, B-Class and BMW 1 Series. Audi Q3-S is being assembled at the outfits Aurangabad plant from CKD kits in an attempt to cut pricing as much as possible.
Last year Audi Q3 was launched at a starting price of Rs 26.21 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra), this was short lived owing to the constant price hikes that Audi has been imposing on its entire product portfolio over the past year or so.
This has resulted in the base diesel version of the Q3 to now cost Rs 31.51 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), making what was once an affordable Audi into yet another expensive SUV.
Audi Q3-S being the low-cost version will miss out on Audi’s trademark ‘Quattro’ system and daytime running LED lamps. However the standard equipment isn’t all that bad and will include leather upholstery, cruise control, voice dialog system, climate control, infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, 18-inch alloys and a few more features borrowed from its bigger brothers.
