Nissan Terrano Unveiled Officially, Pre-Booking Starts September 1
Japanese car maker Nissan has officially unveiled the most awaited compact suv Nissan Terrano in India, joining the likes of Ford, Mahindra and Renault, who have entered the fast growing compact SUV segment in the country over the last one year.
The car was spotted 2 days before the launch as well.
With the launch of the Nissan Terrano, which Nissan will produce at its factory near Chennai and start taking orders from September 1, company is expecting a good response from this growing segment.
“The Terrano will play a key role in boosting Nissan’s sales volume in India and marks the company’s entry into the expanding compact SUV segment,” Nissan said in a statement.
The Terrano was launched by Nissan first in 1986 and since then three generations of the SUV have been launched around the world. The vehicle unveiled on Tuesday is the fourth generation Terrano and the first India made compact SUV by the Japanese company.
The SUV will be launched in the first week of October and deliveries will also start in that month, Nitish Tipnis, director – sales & marketing, Hover Automotive, told reporters. Customers interested in buying the Terrano will be able to pre-book it from September 1st and the pre-launch price will be under Rs 10 lakh, Tipnis added.
Essentially, Nissan Terrano unveiled on Tuesday is based on the highly successful Renault Duster. Nissan has made several exterior changes on the front and the back to differentiate itself from the Duster and looks more muscular. However, if looked sideways, the common man wouldn’t spot much of a difference between the two SUVs.
