Ryan Seacrest’s Typo Case Facing Legal Jitters From BlackBerry
As reported earlier Ryan Seacrest, a TV Celeb (for those of who do not know) started funding a company to build a “Typo case for iPhone”. The case was (and is at-least for now) all set to debut in CES 2014. The case as you can see is reminiscent of a certain Blackberry product, well thats just our opinion. The people at Blackberry seem to be offended by the case and have decided to sue Ryan’s company for making a case which has an uncanny resemblance to the Blackberry Q10. Besides this The case has the potential of stealing the ever declining market share from Blackberry even at a faster pace as it would push those with the need of physical keyboard towards an iPhone and far away form Blackberry (That will STING !).
Here is the official statement by the Canadian Company
“This is blatant infringement against BlackBerry’s iconic keyboard, and we will vigorously protect our intellectual property against any company that attempts to copy our unique design,” said Steve Zipperstein, BlackBerry’s general counsel and chief legal officer. Zipperstein went on to say BlackBerry is “flattered” by Typo’s shameless product, which is set to go on sale later this month for $99.
