    Hi Everyone,
Since I’m using Spice Mi-310 for a month now, I thought of answering few questions raised here.

    1. Battery life: 1.5-2 days for normal use (30 min calling + 30 min browsing + frequent texting). Will definitely last for a day when used heavily (GPS, Wi-Fi, Music etc.). For comparison sake, this has better battery life than Samsung Galaxy i-7500 (my previous phone).

    2. RAM: Total memory is 160 MB, but only 80-90 MB is available to the user. Not great amount of RAM, but not least enough to consider as a glitch. Task manager is recommended for heavy multi-tasker. Android system will take care of memory allotment for normal users. No major hiccups noticed so far in the performance.

    3. Performance: Android 2.2 helps this device to beat many other mid-range devices running Android 2.1. This device scores a highly respectable score of 470+ in Quadrant Standard. For the sake of comparison, Dell XCD35, which costs13.5k, scores only 360+. This device plays all versions of Angry birds without any problem. Overall, it is a great performer for its price, despite low amount of RAM.

    4. Camera: Still camera is just another 2MP camera and there is nothing worth a mention. On the camcorder side, this phone does a decent job with its ability to record 800 x 480 videos (1280 x 780 mentioned in the Flipkart description is not true). However, the video is recorded only in the 3GP format, and it would have been great if the codec is MP4.

    5. OS: It is the vanilla version of Android 2.2 with few useless built-in apps from Spice (Vanilla version is preferable when the customization is not up to HTC or Samsung standards). The major glitch here is that the firmware version is not yet recognized by the Android Market (firmware should be registered with Google & this is a common case with many new phones and firmwares), and hence, all protected apps like My Tracks, Firefox 4, Google Maps update etc. will not appear in the Market. I have written to Spice, but no response till date.

Do reach me at sathya.rajiv@gmail.com, if you have more queries.

hi… i am thinking of buying a moraless cheap bt android touch screen handset for the sole purpose of a media player as i think ipods are waste of money… i already hav galaxy sl …
will this cell phone be worth for the buy in my purpose??
      thanks..!!!

      • Rajiv

        Hi Debankar,

Don’t go for this device if your interest is music. The audio quality is as poor as any other cheap Chinese device, and by no means Spice Mi-310 qualifies as a music player. However, this phone matches pretty well with other mid-range Android devices in all other funtionalities.

Spice Mi-310 is not there for music, but for everthing else.

        Regards,

        Rajiv
