HTC, today at an event in New Delhi, launched the U Series in India, unveiling the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play smartphones in the Indian market.

The phones come with a one-year insurance, which covers the phones for liquid damage and any physical damage. The HTC U Ultra is built with dual display , much like the LG V20 and has new features like the HTC Sense Companion, Voice Recognition and U Sonic. The phone also has BoomSound Hi-definition speakers. It has a 12 MP UltraPixel rear camera that facilitates fast focus and less blurred shots at night. The front camera has a 16 MP UltraPixel Sensor.

The HTC U Ultra runs on a  Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with a quad-core CPU (2 x 2.15 GHz Kryo and 2 x 1.6 GHz Kryo) along with an Adreno 530 GPU. The smartphone features 4GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The battery specification for the device stands at 3000mAh, which may seem less when compared to competition. The phone has a 5.7 inch 2560 x 1440 px  Super LCD5 display.

The other variant in the U series, HTC U Play, has similar specifications in terms of camera. It, however, has a 5.2″ 1920 x 1080 px Super LCD display and is set up with 16 MP “UltraPixel” rear and front cameras. The U Play works on a Mediatek Helio p10 chipset with an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.1 GHz Cortex-A53) processor.

The U Play will be available in two variants of 3GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage and 4GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage. It will be available in four colors in the Indian market – Iceberg White, Indigo Blue, Black Oil and Cosmic Pink Gold.

The HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play are priced at Rs 59,990 and Rs 39,990, respectively. Additionally, customers can get a cashback of 7.5% when bought using select debit or credit cards. The phones will be available in the Indian market starting from 6th March, 2017.
