Sony took the stage at MWC 2017 to launch a flurry of Smartphones, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and XZs are revisions to the XZ launched around IFA 2016. In hopes to keep up with the competition the company has upped it’s game with respect to hardware and design.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium runs on the Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 SoC with an octa-core processor and Adreno 540 GPU. The phone has a 5.5-inch 4K HDR display with a 3840 x 2160 px (Yes that is a True 4K display with HDR). The Xperia XZ Premium packs 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage and supports upto 256 GB of expandable storage via microSD.

The device has a 19 MP rear snapper and a 13 MP front facing camera.  The XZ Premium is the first smartphone to feature a memory stacked ExmorRS sensor which Sony claims, provides 5 x faster image scanning and data transfer. The camera can  also due to this sensor capture 960 frames per second Super slow motion video. The camera also has an Anti-distortion shutter along with Triple image sensing technology, Predictive Hybrid Autofocus and SteadyShot with 5-axis stabilization.

The XZ Premium has a USB 3.1 USB Type C port, and maintains its position of the finger-print sensor power button on the side of the phone. The Xperia XZ Premium is also Water and Dust resistant with an IP68 rating. The phone is made with a glass and metal design protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and back.

Sony Xperia XZs

Unlike the Xperia XZ Premium, the Sony Xperia XZs runs on the Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is last year’s flagship chipset, with a quad-core processor and Adreno 530 GPU. The  XZs has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 px resolution.

The Sony Xperia XZs has the same camera setup as the Xperia XZ Premium. But, has been launched with a 32 GB internal storage and supports up to 256 GB of expandable storage via microSD. The non-removable Li-ion battery has a capacity of 2900 mAh and supports QuickCharge 3.0. Like the Xperia XZ Premium, the Xperia XZs also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The XZs will go on sale in April, however, the price bracket in which it will be available has not been revealed yet.
