The second generation smartwatch from TAG Heuer, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45, has been launched. As leaks had suggested, the Android Wear 2.0 from TAG Heuer has been launched at an uncannily expensive price of $ 1700, which roughly amounts to INR 1,12,000.

Intel and TAG Heuer have come together to introduce this all-metal customizable modular Android wearable. The successor of the TAG Connected, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 will have customizable lugs as well as interchangeable straps. Moreover, the watch can be customized before it is bought. The customization allows you to choose from a range of 500 styles and 56 different versions (11 standard models offered in-store with an additional 45 upon request) of the watch. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 has  a 1.39-inch AMOLED touch-screen display with a round flat tire. The ring surrounding it consists of all the requisite antennas for WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is equipped with Intel’s Atom Z34XX processor.

TAG Heuer and Intel claim that the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch has a batter life of up to 30 hours. Among other features, the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 has NFC, enabling it to make contact-less payments, and it can track your location and fitness using onboard GPS. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 has a 2.5D sapphire crystal cover with a titanium case. The second-gen smartwatch from TAG Heuer packs 4GB of RAM and is water resistant up to 5ATM. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 is also fitted with a small microphone which allows the user to communicate with it via voice recognition (aka, it has the Google Assistant!).

TAG Heuer’s CEO, Jean-Claude Biver, said

This innovative, unique and distinctive TAG watch is at the forefront of the latest technologies available in Silicon Valley and, at the same time, a genuine Swiss watch, bearing the Swiss Made label

While it costs a lot, the makers have offered a series of options to users in terms of buckles (black PVD or titanium), bracelets (ceramic, titanium, leather or rubber), 30 dial options and the watch’s lugs. Given that its predecessor swept the market with its launch, all eyes will be set on how the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 does on the sales front.
