Samsung has finally launched its big boy, the Samsung Galaxy S6 at the MWC. Along with the S6, Samsung also launched its curved screen sibling the Galaxy S6 Edge. With this launch, Samsung is now the only smartphone maker who has two devices in its portfolio with curved displays; the Note Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge. Let’s take a look at how these two “edge” screen devices fare against each other on the spec table.
With the Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung has brought in a two sided edge display whose utility might be questionable. It will be interesting to see though how Samsung makes use of it.
Samsung had a tough year, and a couple of launches that did not help them in their overall outlook. The Galaxy S5 was a huge failure for the company, then losing it to Micromax as the Number One vendor in India was added insult to injury. Then it was time for the Note.
Samsung launched the Note 4 in autumn and teased a device which was quite identical to the Note but had one edge curved to the side. The interwebs blew up and everyone wanted to know what this device was made up of. The Note Edge has been announced in India for a whopping price of Rs. 63,500 officially, making it the most expensive consumer mobile device.
The box of the Note Edge is very similar to its more squared brother and comes with the exact same box contents :

The first thing that hits the eye with this phone is the edge, and while most have dismissed its usability, it is quite an innovation. There are a bunch of screens for the Edge Screen that can be activated, including weather, notifications, tweets and even an arcade game.
Despite the reports claiming that the device will not be launched in India, the company seems ready to roll out the Galaxy Note Edge in India, Europe and some other countries, though in limited numbers. Back at the launch, Samsung made it clear that the Galaxy Note Edge would be a ‘limited edition concept device’.
SamMobile has revealed a list of countries where the device would be made available. As it’s a limited edition smartphone, it will be available in limited numbers and will most likely be priced at a premium price segment. Currently, the Note Edge is up for sale in US for $946 off-contract, which translates around Rs. 59,000.
Apart from India, the Galaxy Note Edge will be launched in Australia, Singapore, Nepal with the model number SM-N915G. The Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915FY model will sell in Germany, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, France, Nordic countries, Austria and Portugal, while the SM-N915F model will sell in Russia and Kazakhstan.
The unique feature of the Galaxy Note Edge is its flexible display panel at the right-hand side, which is a completely separate display panel alongside the primary display panel. Apart from the curved display, the phablet is more or less identical to the Galaxy Note 4 when it comes to features and peripherals.
Specs-wise, the smartphone has a 5.6-inch Quad HD 2560×1440 display and is powered by a 3000 mAh battery. It comes with Snapdragon 805 or Exynos 5433 chipset, Android 4.4 KitKat, 16 MP OIS camera and S Pen stylus. With this launch, Samsung proved that it still has an eye for innovation.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge, the world’s only smartphone with a functional curved touchscreen, finally gets a launch date. The phone will debut on 14th of this month, but in the US only. Samsung Telecommunications America officially announced this yesterday.
The Galaxy Edge is a one of a kind device with a fully functional curved display for hassle-free access to notifications. The edge screen gives access to e-mail, internet, apps, notifications, news and more without the need to navigate from the main screen. The phone did grab some attention at floor shows this fall for its bizarre design.
The Galaxy Note Edge will go on sale via major carriers across the US. AT&T is reportedly offering it at a starting price of $400 on a two-year contract.
Apart from the curved display, the phablet is more or less identical to the Galaxy Note 4 when it comes to features and peripherals. As of now, there is no word regarding its price, but we can expect it to cost a bomb, as the Galaxy Note 4 is priced at a staggering Rs. 58,300. Samsung has also revealed that the Galaxy Note Edge will be a limited-edition phablet and won’t be produced in large stocks.
Following up the launch of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Note 4 in India, new reports have emerged suggesting that the Galaxy Note Edge featuring a curved display will be arrive in India before the end of the calender year.
The unique feature of the Galaxy Note Edge is its flexible display panel around the right side, which is a separate display panel alongside the primary display panel. Apart from the curved display, the phablet is more or less identical to the Galaxy Note 4 when it comes to features and peripherals.
The Galaxy Note Edge flaunts a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display, with a QHD resolution, adding an extra 160 pixels on the third side of the display. It is powered by a 2.7Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor or an Exynos 5433 octa-core processor (1.9GHz quad-core+1.3GHz quad-core), depending on the region. The one with the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy Note 4 was launched in India, and we expect that same would be the case with Galaxy Note Edge as well.
It has a 16MP rear shooter with OIS, along with a 3.7 MP front camera, massive 32GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, and a 3,000mAh battery. The phablet runs on the latest Android KitKat atop with TouchWiz UI.
As of now, there is no word regarding its price, but we can expect it to cost a bomb, as the Galaxy Note 4 is priced at a staggering Rs.58,300. Samsung has also revealed that the Galaxy Note Edge will be a limited edition phablet and won’t be produced in large stocks.
Samsung introduced a one-of-a-kind smartphone today. It stands out in the crowd for its unique screen, which extends and runs over onto the right side of the device. And if you’re thinking the curved panel is simply a marketing gimmick, you’re wrong.
The extended side screen is super functional as well – it has 7 scrollable panels which are customisable. When the Galaxy Note Edge is locked, the side-panel can be used to have a quick look at notifications and get faster access to certain features such as time and date display, flashlight, camera, messages and even a ruler. Preferred apps can also be shifted to the side panel, frequent use of which will help users conserve battery life.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge comes as a pleasant surprise which was kept well under wraps. It is one of the few devices launched recently which left no virtual trail and had no ‘leakster’ tracking its every more.

So, the new bent display not only gives Samsung’s new smartphone a sleek look, but it actually might help keep the main screen clutter-free. Samsung has also announced that will release the API so that third-party app developers can make use of the new screen and create appropriate apps for the screen.
Specs-wise, the smartphone has a 5.6-inch, Quad HD 2560 x 1440 display and is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. It comes with Snapdragon 805 or Exynos 5433 chipset, Android 4.4, 16MP OIS camera and S Pen stylus. With this launch, Samsung proved that it still has an eye for innovation.
Missing the stealthy black Note 7? Looks like Samsung is missing it too, as they launch the black pearl Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in India for Rs. 56900 with a 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
The upgrade in storage comes in replacement of the ill fated Note 7 smartphone which was recalled by Samsung, and the iPhone 7 which is selling really well in the 128 GB model. This is also a take on the OnePlus 3T which now offers up 128 GB of storage for a lesser Rs. 34900, however, seems to be missing from sales.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge remains one of the best phones of 2016, with the addition of this new variant it makes the deal even more sweeter. However, with 2017 just around the corner and rumors of that brilliant edgeless S8 surfacing in the tech industry, will it make sense buying this phone?
Samsung s trying to sweeten the deal by adding things like discounts on the New Gear VR which will be sold for Rs 1990 with the S7 edge and the Korean company is also offering one time Screen Replacement for Rs. 990.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 may as well be the most leaked handset from Samsung. With new information out almost every day, it seems there is little left to imagination for the upcoming launch of the Samsung Flagship.
Steve Hemmerstoffer put some interesting images of the upcoming Note 7 claiming it to be a Note 7 prototype. The images seem to be pretty accurate. The iris scanner appears above the main display, there seems to be an S7 Edge style dual edge on the display. The phone also appears to be slim and identical in design the to S7 edge with a larger and wider screen. One image shows off the lock screen with the camera and phone shortcuts and 3 notifications. ]
Recent benchmark leaks have put the specifications of the Note 7 lower than earlier expectations of a Snapdragon 823 powering the phone, with information now pointing towards a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU, another variant with Exynos 7420 processor was also leaked. The Note 7 will also carry a maximum 4 GB of RAM as opposed to the expected 6 GB previously leaked.
In an internal memo obtained by iGyaan, the Note 7 is also expected to have two new features to in the Air View menu, along with a confirmation of the Iris scanner and a border-less display expected to be the Edge Display. Earlier leaks have also pointed at three colour options of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with a gold option missing this time.
Rumors are pegging the release of the Note 6 and the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus earlier than its usual IFA launch for July 2016. The segment defining Note series that still comes with a stylus may launch at the time Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus along with a successor of the same.
One of the smartphones pegged for July will feature a large 5.8 inch Edge display, much like the S7 edge and will come with Android N on board. Soon after which most Samsung flagships will start to get their own builds/ upgrades of Android N. The Other will feature the same size, however with a flat display.
There is also talk of a 4000 mAh battery, which may not be such a problems thanks to the large size. The processors seem to be the same as well, according to the tip, with no major changes under the hood. However, the Note 6 for the US market will get Snapdragon 823.
Both the devices will feature the same cameras already found in the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, along with features like a fingerprint sensor and an iris scanner. While the latter does not seem very likely.
Reports suggest that a Reddit user, under the alias ‘joelrtaveras’ has revealed images of the soon to be released Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+.
The pictures reveal that the edges of the Galaxy Note 5 are made with a metal frame and that the S Pen will be spring loaded at the bottom of the phone. When compared to the iPhone 6Plus, the Note 5 is said to be thicker and has a tapered back. While it won’t have an SD card slot, the model will reportedly have a 32GB storage capacity.
The S6 Edge+ plus has been compared to the iPhone 6 Plus as well as the Note 5. It is said to come with a feature called Apps Edge, that allows one to swipe from the right in order to view app shortcuts.
While, these images leave nothing to one’s imagination, it is yet to be seen what the devices are going to be priced for at Samsung’s Unpacked Event on Thursday the 13th of August 2015.

Samsung has not verified any of the rumours, so we might have to wait till the August 13th unveiling to confirm all of it.
While everyone was looking forward to the Samsung Note 5 and the S6 Edge Plus to be launched together, rumour mills have now gone bust. A recent report shared says that the two devices will now be launched on different dates and venues.
For those waiting for the Note 5, looks like the wait is going to be extended as the Note 5 will be launched in the first week of September, at the IFA Berlin. The S6 though, will be launched mid-August almost 2 weeks earlier than the Note 5.
The reasons for delaying the launch can be a strategic move to create hype and increase profits and also to avoid the clash with the iPhone 6s Plus, which is speculated to release on the 14th of September. Therefore, since this is Samsung’s highly anticipated device, the company naturally wants to do everything right.
Meanwhile, the S6 Edge Plus will hit the markets soon. Watch this space for more information on the launch.

The latest smartphones will have a centre-mounted punch hole near the top bezel that houses the front-facing selfie camera. As the images exhibit, they have an extremely high screen-to-body ratio which is due to minimal bezels that surround the display.

Speaking of which; specs, price and availability information of the devices will be revealed at the Galaxy Unpacked event which is set for the 7th of August (later today) in New York.
