Asus has launched its new ProArt PA238Q monitor in India. The monitor is a 23”, LED-backlit model with native 1920 x 1080 resolution and It reproduces 100% of the sRGB color space.
The company is touting a 178 degree viewing angles, preventing color loss and wash even from extreme vertical and horizontal viewing directions. The PA238Q uses a 10-bit lookup table for RGB coloration which results in smoother and more accurate color gradation and reproduction, as opposed to the 8bit in standard monitors.

Apple is in the last stages of testing a 15 inch ultra thin Notebook pc that will be part of the MacBook family. According to various reports by TUAW and MacRumors the devices will be 15 inch and 17 inch in size will fall under the Macbook Pro Lineup and will be available in time for christmas.
The ultra-thin market is also about to get much more competitive this fall as Intel’s partners begin launching their notebooks.
Canon does not fail to impress us, this time its a bluetooth laser mouse, which not only looks slick, but also packs a 10 digit full fledged calculator. Called the X Mark I Mouse, not only will this device serve as a calculator on your mouse , it will also act as a 10 digit bluetooth numeric keypad. The company’s camera design team helped to create the hybrid input device, which also includes a trio of mouse buttons and laser tracking.

We had a wonderful chance to sit with MSI India Chief Mr. Eric Kuo ( He is General Manager for India and Executive V.P. for Global Sales, MSI)
Of course, we had a lot to ask about MSI and their business in India, we stuck to a few questions that could summarize the whole outlook.
Mr. Kuo told us that MSI since its 5 years in India has become the top most company for motherboards an VGA cards (graphics cards), They recently added notebooks to their line up and currently stand at number 6 or number 7 in the lineup of notebook manufacturers in India. Their goal is to reach top 3, but currently are focused on the top 5 mark.
Mr. Kuo also told us exclusively that the MSI WindPad will be launched in end of July and beginning of August this year. Pricing he said would be based on the currently available models and their features in comparison to the WindPad.

For X Slim vs Macbook Air and other super slip laptops he said that , MSI is constantly upgrading its portfolio and a new variant of the X-Slim Series should be out by the End of this Year.
Wind-Top or the All in One PC , was being considered and later dropped as an idea for the Indian market, simply because MSI feels that they need to build up reputation as a computer manufacturer within notebooks and Tablets before considering other electronic items.

Anything can happen at MSI, We have already considered this option two years ago, and have a couple of units at our headquarters which are prototypes. A Mobile device requires a completely different strategy, we may not be ready for it yet”

Apple is known for its iPhones, iPod and Macs along with its many Patents and Lawsuits. A recently filed patent from Apple suggests that the company is looking at the possibility of eliminating keyboards all together in the future from its desktop and laptop products. The new keyboards will be a flat surface and will be compromised of various materials and mechanisms with metal, plastic and glass form factors.
The technology is based of multiple ideas that involve piezoelectric components, haptic feedback and acoustic pulse recognition, the combination would allow the keyboard or flat key surface to receive an input via your finger. The flat surface design will have either a plastic or metal construction with perforations to help recognize the keys, a glass overlay to identify them with a display and finally all of this will be led backlit. Looks like Apple is finally taking a stab at the age old keyboard.

Mac OS X Lion is available as an upgrade to Mac OS X version 10.6.6 Snow Leopard® from the Mac App Store for $29.99 (US). Lion is the easiest OS X upgrade and at around 4GB, it is about the size of an HD movie from the iTunes Store®. Users who do not have broadband access at home, work or school can download Lion at Apple retail stores and later this August, Lion will be made available on a USB thumb drive through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com) for $69 (US). Mac OS X Lion Server requires Lion and is available from the Mac App Store for $49.99 (US).

The Apple Online store is down and apart from the obvious – Mac OS X Lion Release – and listing upgrade across the board for the Machines already on the Online Store. We are also hearing rumors of a Macbook Air and Mac Mini Refresh. But we wont know till we know. So Hold On!
The LG D2000 has been officially launched and It features a glasses free 3D experience.

The monitors are already shipping in Korea with the DX2000 label and will soon hit India somewhat south of September 2011.

SEOUL, July, 13, 2011 – LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled the world’s first glasses-free monitor utilizing eye-tracking technology to maintain an optimal 3D image from a range of viewing angles. The 20-inch D2000 (Korean model: DX2000) monitor was developed as a fully functional entertainment display capable of reproducing games, movies and images in all their realistic glory. “With a full line-up of 3D TVs, laptops, projectors and smartphones, LG Electronics is by far and away the industry leader in all things 3D.” said Si-hwan Park, Vice President of the Monitor Division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “LG’s position has always been that 3D will and must eventually function without glasses. The D2000’s 3D effect comes courtesy of glasses-free parallax barrier 3D technology, and the application of the world’s first eye-tracking feature to the monitor. The combination of parallax barrier and eye-tracking in a single unit promises to open up new horizons for glasses-free 3D products.
Existing glasses-free 3D technologies generally require viewers to stay within a tightly restricted angle and distance to perceive the 3D images. However, the D2000 has done much to resolve this issue, allowing viewer much freer movement and more comfortable viewing. Eye tracking in the D2000 works via a special camera sensor attached to the monitor which detects changes in the user’s eye position in real-time. With this information, the monitor calculates the angle and position of the viewer and adjusts the displayed image for the optimal 3D effect.
In addition to playing back existing 3D content, the D2000 has a highly refined 2D to 3D conversion feature which adds a new dimension to existing movies and game playing.
The D2000, available in Korea this month, will be introduced in other markets around the world in the latter part of 2011.

Sony India today announced its strategy to double VAIO sales in India by selling 5 lakh laptop units in FY11. VAIO is already the fastest growing laptop brand in India (according to IDC report 2010) with more than 100% growth and the new product line-up will ensure that it becomes even more closer to the Indian audience. With the earliest models debuted last fall, Gigabyte has just officially announced at Computex 2011 the Booktop T1125P 3-in-1 computer: a laptop whose rotating screen can convert the machine into a tablet-like device, and which when docked into a special station can be used in a desktop configuration.
On the T1125P, is a 11.6-inch capacitive multi-touch display that is fixed to a 180-degree hinge, which lets the laptop be closed with the screen facing outward for use as a tablet. The device itself contains a USB 3.0 and HDMI ports, as well as two dual-channel stereo speakers and two woofers. an ultra low voltage intel core i5/i3 processor plus Nvidia GPU with 1GB dedicated visual RAM translates to a responsive, high-quality multimedia experience. a built/in 3.5G modem facilitates mobile internet connectivity, while the docking station features a DVD drive. when docked (which is necessarily in the vertical position), the device in addition to charging can be used for processing power and as a second screen to an external monitor.
Gigabyte also announced the Booktop M2432 which features a 14 inch backlit LCD and has a Core i3/i5 sandy-bridge processor. This allows the device to function as a laptop or a desktop when docked, but not as a tablet. The dock contains an in-built Nvidia GPU.
