  • Apple Watch to Arrive in India Next Month, Priced Starting Rs. 24,999

Apple Watch to Arrive in India Next Month, Priced Starting Rs. 24,999

Apple’s very first wearable was unveiled last year along with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Today, a year later, there is no sign of it in India. However we have some good news for those waiting to get their hands on the device – it arrives in the country next month.

The wearable went on sale in March, worldwide, after the Apple Spring Forward event. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant claims India to be an important market, it did not launch the Watch here at the time. The Apple Watch comes in three variants – Sport, Regular and Gold Edition. Apple Watch Edition (pure solid gold edition), available in a block of 18 carat yellow, or rose gold went on sale starting at a whopping price of US$ 10,000 for the 38mm version, however, this watch will not be released in India just yet. And if we are to believe sources, then the Apple Watch Sport will be priced starting Rs. 24,999.

    Apple watch Features Design 15

The Apple Watch is created in order to make interaction simpler and intimate. One doesn’t have to constantly be on their phones in order to check the time, reply to emails, take calls, respond to text messages etc, instead all these activities can be completed by a few glances and voice notes.  It also has some unique gesture supports that will make it easy to use and to interact with others. Here is the catch, you have to have an iPhone (or any product by Apple) too so that all the information from your device can get synced to this new iWatch.

  • Ask iGyaan : What is ppi (pixels per inch) ?

Ask iGyaan : What is ppi (pixels per inch) ?

We often get similar questions from multiple users, this new section is to address exactly that, and we begin with the most asked question in recent times.

    User Question :

Bharat Addresses to “ppi” in his videos, what does this mean? and does it have any relation to the camera resolution?

    iG Answer :

PPI (pixels per inch), often referred to as pixel density is a measurement of the resolution of display of the device in question. this can also be the density of the images captured by a camera, but in Bharat’s reference it is always in terms of the display of the device in question.

PPI, is an actual count of the number of pixels found in one inch of a display, which varies depending on the resolution of the display and the overall size of the display.

    Lets clarify further:

                 1. Calculate d_p.

    d_p = \sqrt{w_p^2 + h_p^2}

    2. Calculate PPI:

    PPI = \frac{d_p}{d_i}

    where

    • d_p is diagonal resolution in pixels,
    • w_p is width resolution in pixels,
    • h_p is height resolution in pixels and
    • d_i is diagonal size in inches.

The HTC One M9+ has a screen resolution of 1440×2560 px

    So,  d_p =  [underoot of = (2073600 + 6553600)] =2937.2 (approx)

    The diagonal size in inches is 5.2 inch, therefore d_p/d_i = 2937.2/5.2 =  564.84

Therefore the pixels per inch (ppi) of the HTC One M9+ = 565 (rounded)

WhatsApp Introduces New Vulcan Salute and Middle Finger Emoji

WhatsApp has introduced a couple of new emojis for its users. The new emoji includes the middle finger and the Vulcan Salute from Star Wars. Both these emoji are available in different skin tones within the app. While the middle-finger emoji seems Android-only for now, the Vulcan emoji is also supported on iOS, though it is not part of the stock emoji keyboard.

WhatsApp has recently upgraded itself and comes with a bunch of new features. Among them, is a new custom notification setting that allows you to set different notifications for the different chats you’re in or mute specific conversations entirely.

You can also mark your chats as read or unread and WhatsApp has even included an “low data” usage feature to make voice calls. This reduces the amount of data that is used during phone calls made through the app.

Apart from all of this WhatsApp has also made sharing contact information easier, by allowing you to save the information or even start a new WhatsApp message from within the app itself.

  • Facebook Brings Out its Very Own Artificial Intelligence Assistant Named “M”

Facebook Brings Out its Very Own Artificial Intelligence Assistant Named “M”

We all know about Siri, Cortana and Google Now, but yesterday our favourite social media platform, Facebook launched “M”. M is its very own text-based virtual assistant, which is also integrated with Facebook Messenger. What is different about M, is that it relies on both human and artificial intelligence to fulfill requests. This is something that both Siri and Cortana need to catch up on.

Reports suggest that there is a team of M Trainers, who are prepared and trained to fulfill requests that the artificial intelligence component cannot answer. It is also said, that as of now, the artificial intelligence does not have access to all the social data that Facebook collects and therefore has to depend on the information available through earlier conversations and follow-up questions. This however could change “with proper user consent” says Facebook’s VP of messaging products, David Marcus.

    facebook m 2

What makes M’s activities different from Siri, Cortana or Google Now? Well, an example of what it can do is this – it can allow people to get recommendations for vacations and restaurants for instance, and can also follow through with bookings or purchases.

David Marcus also added that Facebook is planning to hire thousands of M trainers in the future. This artificial intelligence assistant can be good for Facebook’s financial strength, since it can generate money via various partnerships with businesses.

The sad part is, that currently M is only available to residents of California’s Bay Area. This has been reported to be an intentional move, so as to, ensure commonality between M trainers and the people making requests. The product will be launched on Messenger apps all around the world, soon. Watch this space for more updates.

  • Pengate : Read the Manual Says Samsung

Pengate : Read the Manual Says Samsung

Last year, Apple had trouble dealing with Bendgate for the iPhone 6 and now Samsung is dealing with ‘Pengate’ on its new Galaxy Note 5. The recently launched handset comes with a standout 5.7 inch and the ability to write notes on the screen with the S-Pen even when the phone is locked. The Pengate is being called merely a misplaced pen, while reports point out that the main problem with the Note 5 is not the phone in itself but the stylus.

    Galaxy-Note5_back-with-spen_Black-Sapphire

It has been found that the stylus can be inserted back into the slot in one correct way, otherwise it gets stuck. Moreover, after freeing the stylus, apparently the phone’s ability to automatically detect the stylus’s removal is no longer works.

Samsung has put out a statement saying:

“We highly recommend our Galaxy Note 5 users follow the instructions in the user guide to ensure they do not experience such an unexpected scenario caused by reinserting the S pen in the other way around.”

So, basically now if you do not pay heed to the instructions then it’s your fault not theirs. And if you’re in a rush while handling the device and mistakenly insert the stylus backwards, it is your fault not theirs.

This isn’t the first time smartphone users have had a problem with their new device. Previously, the iPhone 4 had come with the ‘antennagate’, and users were asked not to hold the iPhone in a particular way. In short, a smartphone is only as good as it’s user, whether it’s an iPhone or Samsung.

  • New Leaked Video of the Apple iPhone 6s Tells All

New Leaked Video of the Apple iPhone 6s Tells All

This is perhaps the most exciting leak for today – the much anticipated iPhone 6S has now been leaked. There is a video and some images showing us all we need to know, about the upcoming iPhone’s exciting features, such as, the Force Touch and the A9 chipset.

The images are said to reveal an iPhone 6s logic board with components such as the rear shell and battery, both of which enable the device to display a screen showing a gear icon. The video shows us the boot up process, logic board, LTE baseband modem and its radio frequency transceiver chip.

The first feature that we are most excited about, is perhaps the Force Touch, but the device that has been leaked does not prove the existence of the feature yet. However, there are some differences that have been noticed in this device, as compared to the iPhone 6, such as the shielding on the rear of the display being glued in place rather than screwed in.

Secondly, the pictures apparently also suggest that the iPhone 6s logic board will include Qualcomm’s WTR3925 radio frequency transceiver chip, in order to pair with the new modem for better cellular network.

Last but not the least, the pictures received by the source unfortunately do not show the presence of an A9 chip. The logic board seems to be a pre-production product unit and hence is said to be missing the A9 stamp and markings that could have revealed how much RAM is included in the package.

All this information however, has not been confirmed by Apple itself. So we will just have to wait until September 9th to see the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The event is also rumoured to feature announcements including a revamped Apple TV with support for Siri control and third-party apps.
