LG Launches the G4 Beat, Price Soon to Be Announced

After launching the LG G4 Stylus yesterday, LG has released another variant called the LG G4 Beat. The new phone is the latest in the G4 line-up after the G4 Stylus and G4c. With this phone, it seems LG is trying to imitate Samsung’s successful Galaxy series, which offers a wide range of affordable and premium phones.

Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics said

Too often, mid-tier phones sacrifice overall usability in order to include that one killer feature. Our goal with the LG G4 Beat was to create a phone that was not only well- balanced in terms of display, camera, performance and design but delivered terrific value and satisfaction.

The G4 Beat sports a 5.2-inch full HD IPS LCD display with 423 ppi. The phone is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. The internal storage of 8GB can be expanded, allowing you to store more images, music and videos. The G4 Beat will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with LG UX 4.0.

The phone will sport an 8MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. For some reasons, LG has decided to include a 13 MP rear camera in the G4 Beat for select Latin America countries. A  2,300mAh removable battery will power the phone. As far as connectivity is concerned, the phone supports LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.

LG has not disclosed any pricing for the G4 Beat, which is expected to be launched first in countries like France, Germany and Brazil followed by Canada, India, Russia, Singapore, South Africa and Turkey, among others.

The Korean smartphone manufacturer LG has scheduled the official unveiling of its next flagship for April 28. But after this leak, we don’t think there’s much left to wait for. The reliable leaker, Evan Blass (@evleaks), discovered a yet unannounced LG G4 microsite that uncovers most of the concealed details about the handset. The site suggests that the unannounced LG flagship will have swappable leather back, which will come in multiple shades and styles. The image speaks of nine different back panels, out of which three are standard, and six are crafted back panels made of real leather. The shades of the leather back plates would be subtle brown, dark blue, maroon, silver, yellow and sky blue, while the textured traditional backs would come in white, grey and silver colour options. The leather back plates have a fine detailing of fiber weave running down the middle.

  • LG Teases its New User Interface Ahead of the G4 Launch

LG Teases its New User Interface Ahead of the G4 Launch

The South Korean equipment manufacturer LG is forcing spotlight on itself, by revealing information about the LG G4 bit by bit. A recent disclosure by LG’s display manufacturing department claimed that the G4 will have an enhanced 5.5-inch Quad HD display and now LG has officially announced the arrival of its ultra-advanced user interface, UX 4.0.

A teaser video publicized by LG exhibits the UX 4.0 as a step towards making UI friendly to customers. The clip depicts quite a lot of features that seem to be a step in the right direction. The Quick Shot feature allows users to click photos instantly. One doesn’t need to unlock the screen first and surf into the vast array of apps to start a camera. Just tap the volume button twice and the camera will be ready to shoot.

    LG-UX-4.0

The camera comes with various camera modes along with Expert mode that is claimed to have DSLR-like qualities. This mode is said to use geo-location to group photos into an album taken at a single location.

Then there are a few other smart injections like its updated Calendar app, Gallery, Smart Board and Smart Alert. With the Calendar on LG G4, users can drag and drop any event to Calendar from their social networking site. The refurbished Gallery now lets you commemorate memories by grouping them according to date or location.

    lg ux4.0

The Smart Board feature accumulates information from various apps within your device like Calendar, heath and music, and throws them on a single widget as collective information. The Smart Alert is where the smartness of the new UX 4.0 gets apparent. It not just notifies users about the weather, but also gives suggestions depending on the climatic conditions. Which means it will suggest you to go for a swim, play basketball, go for cycling on a sunny day.

Nevertheless, we would be able to see UX 4.0 in action only with the launch of LG G4 on April 28. Till then, here’s the official teaser:

LG Confirms the G4 Will Come With a 5.5-inch Quad HD Display

Much has been spoken about LG’s next flagship, but till now they’ve only been rumours. However, an official confirmation has arrived from the display manufacturing unit of the company which confirms that a newly-developed Quad HD LCD panel will be fitted on to LG’s forthcoming flagship.

LG Display brought out a 5.5-inch QHD IPS panel that offers a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The pixel density stands same as LG G3, at 538ppi, but the company claims that the new display technology offers richer and more accurate colour quality. As compared to the 100 percent gamut of the latest available LG smartphone, the upcoming device display would have a 120 percent colour range.

    lg g4

Also, the contrast ratio of the next LG flagship is enhanced by 50 percent as compared to the standard QHD LCD panels, while brightness is upped by 30 percent. The modifications help users have a better view of the screen especially under bright sun. It should be noted that the display upgradations would not hamper the battery consumption at all, and users can experience better display with the conventional battery of the device.

More details about the LG G4 will unfold on its official launch on April 28. Keep checking back for updates.

  • LG Sends Out Invites; the G4 Expected to Arrive on 28th April

LG Sends Out Invites; the G4 Expected to Arrive on 28th April

South Korean company, LG, has started sending out press invites for an event which will be held on April 28th. This event may likely see the launch of the company’s next flagship, the LG G4. The South Korean electronics giant will hold the events on April 28 and April 29 (due to time zones) in six cities: New York, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul.

The official invite simply reads ‘See the Great, Feel the Great’. The invite also features a leather background signifying that the new LG G4 may sport a leather rear case. The invite also hints that LG will focus on using high-end materials for the phone.

According to GSMArena, the rumored specifications of this handset include a 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It is also said to feature Android Lollipop, possibly Android 5.1. Camera specifications include a 8 MP front camera and a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilization and Laser Auto Focus. The flagship is also rumored to sport a radically new design, including a curved display.

According to reports, the G4 launch was delayed until April to avoid the MWC clash, which took place from 2nd March to 5th March. This was done with the intention of avoiding the hype created by Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The reports also suggest the LG G4 might be a complete change from the previous generation LG G3.

  • Report : LG is Working on a G4 Phablet, Expected to Arrive Later This Year

Report : LG is Working on a G4 Phablet, Expected to Arrive Later This Year

Samsung may soon have a competitor in the already competitive market of phablets. LG is expected to launch its first flagship phablet in the coming few months. According to sources, LG plans to roll out the smartphone, named as the ‘G4 Note’, undoubtedly made to measure up against the likes of the Samsung Note line and the iPhone 6 Plus. LG has also filed for the trademark at the Korean patent office in February. The development sounds exciting, though we certainly hope that instead of blatantly copying their competitor, they come up with a more creative name.

Nothing has been disclosed about the device apart from its name. In a recent interview, Juno Cho, CEO of LG Mobile, stated that they want LG to push ahead to become the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

In its history of smartphones, LG had launched the Optimus Vu back in 2011. It featured a 5-inch screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio and an inadequate stylus integration. This device did not manage to make a mark in the smartphone market, and neither did its next two iterations.

According to the Korea Herald, LG has major plans to fuel up its smartphone line-up, with the G4 Note phablet and an unknown device that is stated to be more powerful than the G-series. Cho also mentioned that several high-end devices are planned to be released in 2015, and the customers will have more than just the G4 to look forward to.

  • Exclusive Leak : LG is Reworking the G4 Design to Take on Samsung Galaxy S6

Exclusive Leak : LG is Reworking the G4 Design to Take on Samsung Galaxy S6

The Mobile World Congress 2015 became the spectator of the recently unveiled flagships from Samsung. The two phones launched by Samsung tried to address the concerns raised by the critics and they were well received by the industry. But the other major Korean manufacturer, LG, is yet to reveal its cards. Rumors have been whirling about LG’s next flagship, the G4. This new device is expected to trump over the G3 with a revamped design and upgraded specs. However, with Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 making records within a week of its launch, there’s mounting pressure on LG to pack the G4 with invincible specs and features. We have received exclusive information that LG is taking “inspiration” from Samsung’s flagship for its new handset to bring out a worth challenger in the market.

As per exclusive information, LG is Planning to transform the G4 on the lines of the Galaxy S6.
As per exclusive information, LG is planning to transform the G4 on the lines of the Galaxy S6.

According to a reliable source close to iGyaan, the Korean producer is ditching plastic and metal body plans in favour of an all metal design with strengthed glass protection. The new LG G4 will come in a bold metallic casing, which will guard the phone against accidental drops. Besides the layout, the battery capacity and camera of the upcoming LG flagship will also be overhauled so as to give a tough competition to the Galaxy S6. For the camera, LG G4 will tie in the already existing laser autofocus with improved optics for better shooting capabilities.

The LG G4 is expected to launch in the second quarter this year, and our sources have confirmed that the roll out of the device will begin much later after its unveiling. LG has time to remodel its top segment device by estimating the responses for HTC One M9 and Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. But it should make a quick and smart move so that it can bring a worthy competitor in the market to challenge the flagships from Samsung and HTC.

  • LG to Launch the G4 Along with a Brand New Flagship Later This Year

LG to Launch the G4 Along with a Brand New Flagship Later This Year

LG was one of the major company that didn’t bring out any major flagship device at the MWC. LG said that they needed to do work on their new device and hence decided to postpone the launch of this year’s flagship. Instead, the company brought four mid-range devices at the conference. The Korean company though had some big news in its kitty; it announced that it would be bringing a new flagship that will be a step above the G-series.

LG Electronics Mobile chief Cho Juno said that the company is working on a new device that will have higher specs than the G4. This device will be brought to the market in the second half of the year. This means that the LG G4 would be losing its status as the LG flagship. There aren’t any more details about this new device as of yet.

Cho Juno did talk about the upcoming LG G4 and gave away some details about the new device. The new G4 is expected to be radically different from the previous generation G-series devices, both inside and outside. It might feature a new metal body along with an overhaul of the software too. They will be unveiling the new LG UX 4.0 before the announcement of the G4. The phone might be announced in the coming few months.

Mr. Juno also said that the company is working on high-performance processors to break free from the Qualcomm ecosystem. There is an indication that the chipset might also appear in the LG G4, but that doesn’t seem like a possibility as of now. The company plans to bring the new chipsets to all the new handset offerings. Samsung has already powered its new flagship, the Galaxy S6 with its homegrown Exynos processor. It seems the companies are doing everything in their power to establish a unique space for themselves in the brutal terrain of the smartphone market.

  • LG G7, G7 Plus Could Be Launched In May 2018

LG G7, G7 Plus Could Be Launched In May 2018

The LG G7 was expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), similar to its predecessor. However, LG announced its plan to rework on its flagship smartphone strategy. The CEO of LG Mobile conceded that the company would now launch smartphones as and when it deems fit. While reports claimed that the LG G7 was completely rehashed a few days before Mobile World Congress 2018, it was showcased behind closed doors.

Leaked images of the LG G7 revealed a vertically placed dual-camera setup and an iPhone X like notch. While it is possible that this was just a prototype, more reports have solidified the counter-argument. A new report from in ETNews claims that the LG G7 and G7 Plus will be launched in May 2018. Also, the devices will be very similar to the images leaked at MWC 2018.

    Asus Zenfone 5Z

This means that the LG G7 and its Plus sibling will join an increasingly long list of iPhone copycats on the market. MWC 2018 saw a lot of smartphone makers take the Apple iPhone X route. But, without really justifying the need for a notch. However, LG is still one of the most renowned mobile manufacturers in the world and wouldn’t just put a notch on their device because it’s a “trend”.

The LG G7 and 7 Plus will also have the AI camera found on the LG V30S ThinQ. The devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and feature a dual-camera setup on the back. If LG does go with a notch, the company could also introduce a proprietary Face Unlock feature as well.

    Conclusion

When the LG G7 and G7 Plus are launched, the devices will usher in a new strategy for LG. The company is also expected to push the launch of the LG G40 to later in the year instead of its traditional September launch. Whether the new strategy along with a drastic design shift will work in favour of LG or not is to be seen.

It is also worth noting that the OnePlus 6 expected to be launched in June 2018. It will also have a notch and a new glass design at a price similar to the OnePlus 5T.

  • Samsung Galaxy S7 or LG G5: Who Will Win at MWC 2016?

Samsung Galaxy S7 or LG G5: Who Will Win at MWC 2016?

The Mobile World Congress 2016 is just a day away. The technology fest will see some major unveiling and some next-gen tech on display. In the smartphone department, two names have been given a lot of hype for many weeks now, and rightly so. Samsung and LG are both ready to unveil their flagship devices. We’ve heard rumours and leaked renders of both and now it’s time to see which flagship does better based on what we know so far.

    Design

    Galaxy S7 01

Samsung achieved a beautifully crafted phone with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and there is no reason why the Korean-based giant would want to steer away from that. From what the renders have told us the upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will follow the same design language as their S6 counterparts. Only the standard 5.1-inch S7 will have a curved edge at the back rather than a flat one seen on in the S6. The renders of the devices look great and Samsung may just have another great looking device on their hands.

    lG G5

The LG G5, on the other hand, is likely to go with a more squarish look as compared to the G4. The back may not be as curved as its predecessor. It is also rumoured that LG is incorporating a modular design with the G5. The G5’s modular design, according to rumors, involves a detachable bottom, which will reveal the battery and allow it to simply slide in and out. Not only does this design help in making a thinner looking device, but it also gives easy access to the removable battery. Furthermore, it is also rumoured that the G5 will feature a secondary display above the primary one that will display apps and notifications, similar to the LG V10.

    Camera

    Samsung Galaxy S7 Back

When it comes to the camera, Samsung has done extremely well in decimating its competition with some superb camera modules in the S-series. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Plus had incredible cameras that won last year. This year, Samsung wants to take its camera up a notch which is why it’s using a new Britecell technology for the Galaxy S7. Rumours peg the rear camera at 12MP with f/1.7 aperture, which means that Samsung is focusing a lot more on quality while the front camera will be at 5MP.

    LG G5 Camera

The LG G5 is set to sport a dual camera set-up at the back – 16 MP and 8 MP. Leaked images posted in December show a dual camera fitted under a back panel. There’s also a flash and what looks like a fingerprint sensor below which is also expected to double up as the power button. LG has also done extremely well in the camera department and the V10 is one such phone in LG’s lineup that stands as proof. The cameras on the G5 is said to be developed by Sony.

    Hardware

Both the flagship devices are expected to feature top-of-the-line and next-gen specifications. The Samsung Galaxy S7 upon launch is expected to  to feature a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution, a new 12 MP BRITECELL camera with f/1.7 aperture, and a 5 MP secondary camera. Two SoC configurations are expected – one being the new Exynos 8890 and the other being Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820. 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is expected as well as a MicroSD card slot this time around and the battery is expected to be upwards of 3500mAh. A fingerprint sensor will be housed in the home button.

The LG G5 is rumoured to come equipped with a 5.3-inch QHD display, sporting a Snapdragon 820 processor and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. It’s also suggested that LG G5 might include an eye scanner, USB-C connectivity and a fingerprint sensor.

    Features

    Galaxy-S7-in-the-rain-702x336

It has been rumoured that Samsung has been working on an Apple 3D Touch-like feature for the Galaxy S7 devices. The pressure sensitive feature, reportedly called ClearForce, is being developed by Synaptics. If this is true, we may just see apps for Android being updated to include pressure sensitive features as well, much like the apps for iOS. Meanwhile, another set of rumours suggest that the S7 will have Apple Live Photos-like feature which makes tiny GIF-like videos.

A recent teaser video posted by Samsung’s Indonesian page showed that the Galaxy S7 will be waterproof to some extent.

    LG-G5-Always-On-01

LG is planning to launch the G5 with market disrupting specs and features, according to rumours. Now while one unconfirmed feature involves a modular design with a removable bottom, LG has teased some other features as well such as an ‘Always On’ mode which displays notifications on the screen without having to turn the screen on. A dual rear camera setup and a secondary display will be the other highlights of the G5.

LG to Unveil Stylus 2 at MWC 2016

LG is gearing up for a busy week ahead it seems. The company had already revealed plans of unveiling the G5 and the new X series mid-range smartphones to the tech world next week at the Mobile World Congress 2016, and now the marketing guys at LG have gone ahead and dropped another bombshell.

The South Korean tech giant has now revealed that a sequel to last year’s G4 Stylus, which will be called the Stylus 2 will also be unveiled at MWC 2016. The Stylus 2 will also come with a pen, but unlike the last iteration, it will come with nano-coated tip instead of the previous rubber-tipped pen. According to LG this will offer increased accuracy.

    lgstylus2solocrop

Specifications of the phone list the Stylus 2 to be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, and sport a 5.7-inch HD display. RAM is 1.5GB, while internal memory is 16GB which will be expandable up to 128GB. The phone will also house a removable 3,000mAh battery which will be great news for users.

On the camera front, the device features a 13MP rear shooter and an 8MP front shooter. Dimensions of the phone are 155 x 79.6 x 7.4mm and it weighs at 145g, the handset will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and will be available in three colors namely titan, white, and brown. Pricing details were not announced, but LG did reveal that the “Stylus 2 will be exceptionally priced.”

In an official comment, Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said “LG Stylus 2 provides both the big screen and premium notetaking functions of a premium large phone at a price of a mid-tier phone. This device is another example of our commitment to the mass-tier segment where there is so much opportunity for growth and creativity.”

The Stylus 2 will also come with special features aimed at improving user experience. These include Pen Pop and Pen Keeper. Pen Pop “toggles a popup menu when the stylus is removed to offer shortcuts to Pop Memo and Pop Scanner,” Pen Keeper will help prevent the stylus from being misplaced by displaying “a popup message when the phone is detected as being in motion when the stylus bay is empty.”

LG G5 Specifications Revealed in Benchmark Test

As we approach closer and closer to February 21 where LG, among others, will unveil its flagship G5 smartphone, we will find a number of details in online that want fans to know everything about the device before it is unveiled. LG yesterday made official one of the features of the G5 and today we have some specifications confirmed by Geekbench benchmark test.

Apparently, someone with an LG G5 model decided to run a Geekbench test on the device and has posted the result online. We find that the device with the model number F700 will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB of RAM and will run on Android 6.1 Marshmallow. The test also reveals the G5 scoring a 2248 in single-core test and 5061 in multi-core.

Now, these specs are but a few and aren’t all that surprising. Being an Android flagship device in 2016, one expects to see the above specifications. The F700 model number logically implies the G5 as the F600 and F500 in the past stood for the V10 and G4, respectively.

Other specs still unconfirmed include a dual rear camera setup, an 8MP front camera, 5.6-inch QHD display. The device is also said to come in a modular design for easy access to the battery. We’ll know if any of the alleged rumors are true in just a few days time.

Making another addition to the category of mid-range phones is LG’s Ray X190 with a 5.5 inch IPS display. The phone measures a 9.3 mm in thickness and is quite similar in terms of design to a previous LG device, the G4.

The highlight of the phone is the front camera marked at 8 MP. The main camera is of 13 MP with 1080p resolution. Rest of the specs are a little disappointing, making the phone pretty much selfie-oriented. The screen has only a 720p resolution (267ppi); the phone has no LTE and only supports 3G. LG Ray is a dual-SIM phone but the battery is capable of only 10 hours of talk time.LG Ray X190 2

The operating system is Android 5.1 Lollipop and imitates the flagship G-series with features like Knock Code and Gesture Shot. The device packs only a 1 GB of RAM and MediaTek MT6592M chipset with an octa-core processor.

Currently LG Ray X190 is priced at RUB 15,000 in Russia, which is about $232 or Rs. 15,000. The price is likely to be higher when the device arrives in India. However not sure if the phone is meant for you if you are willing to do anything other than clicking selfies with it.
