GTA V to have First-Person Mode, PS4 and Xbox One First to Receive Update

Rockstar Games, the owner of Grand Theft Auto franchise, unveiled a new footage of Grand Theft Auto from the version set for release on the PS4 and Xbox One on 18th November, and on PC on 27th January, 2015.

There are so many new things about this version, Grand Theft Auto V, but this time around, Rockstar has delivered more than a technical upgrade – it’s given players an entirely new way of playing the game. The GTA maker has added a mode to this version where you can play it out in the first-person. According to the company, this mode will be customisable, so you can play from a first-person perspective while walking around on foot and while driving, but not during a gunfight while hiding behind cover.

    screen-shot-2014-11-04-at-3-13-13-pm

“It’s a very intense, in-your-face experience… literally,” says Rob Nelson, the GTA 5 Animation Director. “Obviously, we felt like one of the most compelling things you could do to make an experience people have had before feel different was the new first-person mode.”

This new perspective will also give you a better view of the amazing graphics all over the San Andreas, including pedestrian and traffic density, a farther draw distance, and more real weather effects. It also changes how you’ll experience the story, as events that take place in a mission happen around you rather than from the zoomed out view you got in the original.

Along with better graphics, Rockstar has thrown a bunch of little improvements into the world of Grand Theft Auto V. The developer has stated that there will be 20 new species of wildlife, 150 new songs, more random chatter from pedestrians and 32 new vehicles.

Ahead of the release of GTA V for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Rockstar also announced the release of limited edition collection of the game’s music on both CD and Vinyl. Through a partnership with Mass Appeal Records, the soundtrack collection will go on sale in December.

Top 5 PS4 Games We Can’t Wait to Get Our Hands on

There are plethora of PlayStation 4 games coming in 2014. Lots of indie titles are going to debut as well as some big franchises come up with their annual releases. While there are still games out there with a rumored 2014 release date, we’ve decided to only include games that have been confirmed for a 2014 release.

We’ve rounded up 5 of most anticipated pS4 games of 2014:

    5. Final Fantasy XV (Fall 2014)

    Final_Fantasy_XV_-_Cast

When Final Fantasy XV is released this Fall, it will have officially been in development for 8 years. The game started production back in 2006 and features a darker and more realistic atmosphere than previous Final Fantasy games. The game was originally meant for release on the PS3 under the name “Final Fantasy Versus XIII”. For years, many thought the game was cancelled, but then Square Enix surprised everyone at the E3 2013.

    4. Destiny (September 2014)

    destiny_lower_marq_br

From the makers of Halo, Destiny is a first person action role play game, set in a vast science fiction world. Destine is built on a brand new engine by developer Bungie, who has been working on the game since 2010. It is one of the most hyped-up games this year, and there’s a lot at stake for developer Bungie and publisher Activision.

    Pre-Order now:

    3. Batman Arkham Knight (Fall 2014)

    Batman_Arkham_Knight_Sshot056

Revealed just days ago, Batman Arkham Knight is the latest entry in the Batman Arkham series, which have been tremendously successful for Warner Bros. Arkham Knight takes things to the next level, both visually and gameplay wise — the open world will be five times larger than in previous games.

    Pre-Order Now:

    2. Deep Down (Fall 2014)

    Deep-Down

Deep Down is arguably the best looking PlayStation 4 game we’ve ever seen. So far Capcom has shown us glimpses of gameplay that surpass even the tech demos we’ve seen of the Unreal Engine 4. Deep Down is a fantasy action RPG, an ode to the classic dungeon crawlers, with all sorts of dragons and creatures looming deep down.

    1. The Order 1886 (Fall 2014)

    2051289-718917_20130820_004

The Order 1886 is set in an alternate history in a Victorian-war London, where an old order of knights protect the city (and the world) from monsters. The game reminds us a lot of Van Helsing, and has a unique art style, not to mention some gorgeous visuals. The Order 1886 has been in development since 2010, but Sony kept things under wraps until E3 2013 with the reveal of FFXV.

  • Microsoft Streams Halo 4 To Demonstrate Cloud Gaming

Microsoft Streams Halo 4 To Demonstrate Cloud Gaming

Microsoft’s Halo franchise is set in space, but the cloud is where today’s most interesting advancements seem to be happening for the Mast Chief-helmed video game series.

Microsoft has long been suspected to have been working on its own brand of cloud streaming technology for Xbox software, and the latest reports suggest they’re making progress on that front.

The Verge writes that sources familiar with Microsoft’s internal machinations describe a demonstration by company officials that showed Xbox 360 blockbuster Halo 4 running smoothly via network streaming on both a PC (presumably running Windows 8) and a Windows Phone device, specifically the 4″ Nokia Lumia 520.

We understand that Microsoft is building the service as a way to stream games to its Windows devices. Microsoft’s demonstration included a Windows Phone with a Xbox controller attached through an accessory, and a low-end hybrid PC. Microsoft has not yet branded the cloud games service, and officials stressed it was simply prototype at this stage.

It seems unlikely Microsoft will have their cloud game streaming service ready in time for the launch of PlayStation Cloud, which Sony has announced for release in early 2014.

This could be the company’s answer to making the vast library of Xbox 360 backward compatible with the forthcoming Xbox One console. It could be utilized for “more complicated things like rendering full games like a Gaikai and delivering it to the box.”

  • Sony PS4 Interface video shows off the new connectivity, sharing and community

Sony PS4 Interface video shows off the new connectivity, sharing and community

Sony has officially shown off the new interface and does it look impressive. The double tap multitasking is a feature people were asking for for a long time and looks like Sony may have just pulled it off.

Within games you can now switch over to your messaging and switch back to the game, alternatively you can be on voice chat throughout, while downloading a game in the back ground.

The promo shows off a man trying to play knack but he is stuck in one area of the game, he then watches a video uploaded by a friend to clear that area. While another friend is asking him to join him on Killzone, which he must download from the Playstation store.

The video also shows off micro management, where you can use your smartphone to download games ota to the PS4. Now if only sony could implement it like they show it off, we could very well have the next gaming console.

  • PS4 Blu-Ray Drive Is 3x Than PS3’s, Features Boosted Storage Sub-System

    PS4 Blu-Ray Drive Is 3x Than PS3’s, Features Boosted Storage Sub-System

The Game Developers Conference in San Francisco is well under way, with some details on Sony’s upcoming next-gen console, the PlayStation 4. Sony Senior Staff Engineer Chris Norden went into greater technical detail on some of the PlayStation 4’s underlying hardware.

Contrary to rumors stating that Sony would abandon the numbering structure for its next-gen console, the next PlayStation will, indeed, be called the PlayStation 4.

PS4’s Blu-Ray drive is three times faster than the current PS3 drive, Norden confirmed. Keeping in mind that the PS3 is equipped with 2x BD drive capable of reading Blu-ray discs at up to 9MB/s speed. The three times faster solution is a 6x BD drive that can read discs at up to 27MB/s, which should be enough not only for modern games, but also for next-generation 4K video discs, assuming that they are Blu-ray or compatible with the drive (or use the same 405nm wavelength as BD).

He added that the hard drive in every console will be “very large” and that real names can be used within PS4’s friend system, subject to the players’ approval. PS4’s social functionality will also allow for more than 100 friends, the current limit on PS3.

PS4’s Eye motion camera comes with a tilt sensor so it can tell when a player is facing in the wrong direction, or if the camera itself has fallen off of your TV stand (or wherever you choose to place it).

Norton explained that PS4s memory outperforms the DDR3 you can find in many high-end PCs, and that its 8GB of GDDR5 RAM offers developers “Crazy high bandwidth”. Simplicity was also key, said Norton.

“If you’re coming from the PS3 you’re probably quite used to the headache of having to split memory architecture, you can’t quite use all of it, the speeds are really wacky on some of it – we don’t have that with PS4. It’s eight gigs, it’s there, it’s easy,” he said.

“You’re getting some really amazing memory with PS4 and we’re really excited about it.”

Other hardware related improvements that the engineer mentioned are all-digital buttons and sticks on the DualShock 4 controller, ability to charge the controller while the console is off as well as a mono headset in every PlayStation 4 box.

  • EA Reveals Battlefield 4 With A 17-Minute Trailer

EA Reveals Battlefield 4 With A 17-Minute Trailer

Battlefield 4 will land on PCs this autumn following EA’s reveal of the upcoming shooter within a 17-minute gameplay trailer.

Powered by the Frostbite 3 game engine, EA touted a more open world single player than previous entries to the Battlefield series, and stated that users would “experience huge environments”, although the 17-minute trailer, which you can view below appears to show the title’s more linear elements.

“We are so humbled and proud to debut Battlefield 4 on a global stage with simultaneous events in San Francisco and Stockholm,” said EA executive Patrick Soderlund.

The 17-minute video is jam packed with amazing graphics, intricate story lines, and plenty of action.

Small details like facial animation and ridiculously realistic lighting effects are definitely very apparent. Maybe a new graphical coat of paint is all it’s going to take for us to get excited about the first-person video game genre again. It’s expected that Battlefield 4 will go head-to-head against Activision’s still un-announced, but very expected, next-generation Call of Duty title later this year.

The YouTube video is titled “Fishing in Baku” and  was released on Battlefield’s website as well as the “Battlefield 4” YouTube page.

“These 17 minutes of ‘Battlefield 4’ gameplay provide an exclusive look atBF4‘s single-player campaign. With dynamic destructible environments, epic vehicular combat and the chaos of all-out war, ‘Battlefield 4’ gives you the freedom to do more and be more for an unrivaled entertainment experience,” says a statement on the video game’s website.

The game will be released on the PlayStation 4 and next-generation Xbox but it will also, surprisingly, receive a pared down PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release.

Players can pre-order Battlefield 4 now, which will entitle them for a Premium expansion pack. Meanwhile, PC gamers can order the Digital Deluxe edition currently on Origin, which includes the title and additional in-game items.

Those who pre-order will also be granted access to Battlefield 4’s multiplayer beta once it launches.

  • Nvidia Announces PhysX And APEX Support For AMD-Powered PS4

Nvidia Announces PhysX And APEX Support For AMD-Powered PS4

Nvidia Corp. on Thursday announced support for Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation 4 with the popular Nvidia PhysX and Nvidia APEX software development kits (SDKs). While Sony PS4 will not use Nvidia’s chips, it will still rely on development software designed by Nvidia.

PhysX and APEX technologies are used by developers for collision detection and simulation of rigid bodies, clothing, fluids, particle systems etc on pretty much every current platform. Nvidia PhysX and APEX technologies are designed to run on a variety of CPU architectures and can be accelerated by any modern Nvidia GPU, GeForce 8-series or higher.
Mike Skolones, product manager for the PhysX at Nvidia, said: Great physics technology is essential for delivering a better gaming experience and multiplatform support is critical for developers. With PhysX and APEX support for PlayStation 4, customers can look forward to better games.
Both PhysX and APEX are already integrated into a handful of games. NVIDIA boasts that PhysX alone is featured in more than 150 games, and is used by over 10,000 developers. Some games that are taking advantage of NVIDIA’s technologies include Borderlands 2, the Batman Arkham series, Mirror’s Edge, and Metro 2033.

The Sony PlayStation 4 is based on a semi-custom AMD Fusion system-on-chip that integrates eight AMD x86 Jaguar cores, custom AMD Radeon HD core with unified array of 18 AMD GCN-like compute units (1152 stream processors which collectively generate 1.84TFLOPS of computer power that can freely be applied to graphics, simulation tasks, or some mixture of the two), various special-purpose hardware blocks as well as multi-channel GDDR5 memory controller.

The PS4 will come with 8GB of unified GDDR5 memory sub-system (with 176GB/s bandwidth) for both CPU and GPU as well as large-capacity hard disk drive. Sony PS4 will be equipped with Blu-ray disc drive capable of reading BDs at 6x and DVDs at 8x speeds, USB 3.0 connectivity in addition to a proprietary aux port, Gigabit Ethernet port, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR wireless technology as well as HDMI, optical and analog outputs. The new system will also utilize new DualShock 4 game controller with integrated touchpad as well as better motion sensing thanks to new PS4 Eye tracking cameras.
