Is this is the next Google Nexus : Motorola Intel based ICS phone

Motorola’s Intel based Ice Cream sandwich phone has been leaked. The image, which depicts a slim Android smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The handset is said to feature an updated version of MotoBlur as well as an impressive new camera. The Motorola smartphone is expected to debut at Mobile World Congress later this month.

With the Motorola and Google merger getting the yes, this could very well be the first Nexus device that Google manufacturers themselves. Specs should tout a quad core processor and a high res Amoled or equivalent display.

LG Optimus 3d 2 ready to be showcased at MWC, leaked ahead of launch

Leaked image of the Optimus 3d part 2 has been outed. The device looks impressive especially in this new color tone. Looks like LG has started to follow in Apple and Samsung’s footsteps seeing the success of white devices. The new Optimus 3D will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor, has a new tapered design which is 9.8 mm at its thinnest point. Its also much lighter , about 20 gms, compared to the original Optimus 3D.

The specs are comprised of a 1.2GHz dual-core Texas Instruments processor, a 5-megapixel camera which captures 3D photos, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth 3.0, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), NFC and support for 21Mbps HSPA+ networks.

The device will launch in Q1 2012 in Korea, but there is no info on pricing.

Samsung releases Galaxy Tab 2 (7 inch) with ICS out the box
Samsung has just announced its new 7 inch Galaxy Tab, aptly dubber “Tab 2.0”. The new galaxy Tab 2.0 will come with Google’s ICS “Ice Cream Sandwich” upgrade to android pre installed. Two versions – 3G and Wifi with specs that include :
- 1GHz dual-core processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 1024 x 600 LCD
- Android 4.0
- 3 megapixel rear-facing camera, VGA front
- HSPA+ connectivity
The device is set to launch in the UK by March and to hit India soon after.

Light and portable, the GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) is the ideal personal on-the-go device, available in 3G and WiFi versions. Starting from UK, the GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) will be launched in global market from March.

Samsung’s first Android 4.0 Tablet

Samsung’s first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)-powered tablet offers a variety of new and improved Android OS features. An upgraded Android Market enables access to more than 400,000 applications which can be enjoyed across phones or tablets. Furthermore, a more intuitive user interface includes the ability to swipe-control applications as well as a wholly redesigned app gallery for easier sharing of content. The new OS’s vastly faster performance and response times across multiple applications is further enhanced by HSPA? 21Mbps or WiFi connectivity.

Google finally getting into free cloud store options : Google Drive

Google is preparing to launch a new cloud storage service that will compete directly with the likes of Dropbox, pogo plug, Rapidshare et all. The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday evening reported that Google is almost ready to announce the new service, which will be called Google Drive. Similar to Dropbox, which creates a virtual drive containing files that are mirrored on a user’s local hard drive and on cloud servers, Google Drive will allow users to store photos, videos, documents and other files in the cloud, and it will be accessible from computers as well as Android tablets and smartphones.

Expect at least 8 Gig of Free storage from the company and this number can be as high as 15 if you consider how generous Google is usually.

HTC announces ICS updates rolling in March for Sensation and Sensation XE

HTC has just updated their Facebook to announce its ICS rollout plan. ICS or Ice Cream Sandwich is the most anticipated Android update since android Froyo. it brings a whole host of changes to the table, and it will be interesting to see how HTC updates their Sense UI to add to ICS. According to HTC’s announcement the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE will be the first to get the updates followed by HTC EVO 3D, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD

HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon thereafter by the HTC Sensation XL.

In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC EVO 3D, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks

FOr those in the US HTC has announced ICS updates for the Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G and EVO Design 4G. The US devices will get updates by the end of 2012.

Google Launches Chrome browser for Android Devices (video)

Nothing less than expected, Google on Tuesday announced the first beta release of its Chrome Web browser for Android-powered smartphones and tablets. With Chrome, Google is focused on aligning its mobile browsing experience more closely with its desktop browser.

Like the desktop version, Chrome for Android Beta is focused on speed and simplicity, but it also features seamless sign-in and sync so you can take your personalized web browsing experience with you wherever you go, across devices.

Supposed Samsung S II Plus Leaks ahead of MWC launch

A supposed leak of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II + running Android 4.0 with TouchWiz UI has appeared on the inter webs. Industry insider Eldar Murtazin is responsible for the above image of the suspicious looking phone. A close look reveals that the buttons below have been updated to host the new flavor of the Android platform, Ice Cream Sandwich. The device is being considered as the Samsung Galaxy S2 plus purely because of its resemblance to the S2 and the fact that a benchmark score has also popped up on an3dbenchxl website. The device is running a 1.5 GHz processor on a Android 2.3.4 platform, but that could have changed by now.

Airtel releases official manual GPRS / 3G settings for those in doubt

Possibly sick of the millions of Android / iPhone / Blackberry adopters asking for correct APN et al, Airtel has officially released settings for all possible handsets in this image graphic below.

While their main APN remains “airtelgprs.com” other settings may be needed for some devices.

Samsung Galaxy S III will be announced at a separate event much later than MWC

Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy SIII, the highly awaited successor of the Galaxy SII will be announced at a separate launch event, much later than MWC and close to commercial availability of the device.

The phone earlier rumored to being launched at the Mobile World Congress 2012 held this month in Barcelona, will now be launched later. The phone is rumored to have a dual core processor which will run upto 2.0GHz natively.

Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.

Samsung makes US $ 42 Billion in Sales and $ 4.7 Billion in operating profit

Samsung has released its Q4 results and it shows that the company is headed in the right direction to becoming bigger than ever before. The electronics mammoth company has posted a 5.3 trillion won ($4.7 billion) operating profit in Q4 2011, with a sales revenue of 47.3 trillion won ($42 billion). The major of the chunk of its income is thanks to the impressive smartphone sales by the company , with over 300 million phones sold in 2011.

The earnings also reported that the mobile division stood accountable for 40% in the total earnings, while other major contributors were Samsung Semiconductors and Display divisions with 2.3 trillion won ($2 billion) and 8.55 trillion won ($7.6 billion) in sales respectively.

Samsung reports that in 2012 the sales from mobile phones will account for 50% of its total revenue considering it has an impressive lineup coming. Shipments of Samsung’s smartphones jumped 30 percent compared to the previous quarter (holiday quarter). Looking forward, Samsung expects the demand for entry-level smartphones and LTE will grow the smartphone market by more than 30 percent over the year, and the company expects tablet demand to grow as well.

Motorola Ties up with JCB to add Extra rugged on UK Defy + (PR)

Motorola has tied up with power machine maker JCB to release the UK variant of the Defy +. The limited-edition handset comes pre-loaded with branded-applications for the construction site including a spirit-level, theodolite, decibel meter and a DIY store locator. The remaining specs are the same as we saw on the Indian version of the Defy + including 1GHz processor, 2GB internal storage and a 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass display along with a 5MP camera. CyanogenMod 9 Alpha Brings ICS to Much awaited HP Touchpad

The buggy build of ICS on the Touchpad we saw earlier has been let out to public. Among the things that currently don’t work are Market access, hardware accelerated video and the camera. The project is developing fast so fixes should be expected really soon.

The source code for the release has also been outed so if you want to play around with your own version of the build you can do that quite easily. Triple boot of webOS / CM7 / CM9 is possible but the developers are currently recommending against it.

Devs Break Nook Tablet bootloader – Android 4.0 gets installed

Developer Brandon Bennet (aka Nemith) has managed to get an early version of the Android 4.0-based CyanogenMod 9 up and running on the device, thanks to the previously broken bootloader.Other devs are able to boot the tablet off -a microSD card and some are even working on Ubuntu builds for it. Xda-Devolopers is very active in the android development portion of the Nook Tablet with such activities .
