Breaking : Micromax Launches new Funbook Talk P350 with Phone Call Ability for Rs 7249

Micromax has just announced plans for a new Funbook Tablet, the P350 Funbook Talk, which features the same specs of the P300 with phone call ability and a dedicated sim card slot for GSM networks.

All other features remain the same, with a 1.0 GHz Cortex A8 Dual Mali 400 chipset, Android 4.0.4 and a 7 inch capacitive screen. You do have a front facing 0.3 MP camera and a microSD card slot, along side a 2800 mAh battery and a 3G dongle support.

The Tablet has been announced for a price of Rs. 7250, expect full video soon.

Sony Xperia Tipo coming on 16th September 2012 for Rs. 9850
Sony Mobile Communications India will launch their next Xperia phone the Tipo, targeted at the budget buyer, on the 16th of September 2012. The Xperia Tipo may not be the cream of the crop when it comes to specifications, but surely adds another to the list.

ACI launches ultra budget laptop for Rs. 4999
UK-based computer brand ACi unveiled a fully-functional high-resolution screen laptop – Aci Icon 1100 – at Rs 4,999 in the Indian market. The laptops will be marketed in India by a BSE-listed group company, Allied Computers International (Asia) Ltd.

New India only BlackBerry 9220 launched for Rs 10990/- (PR)

Blackberry is really trying hard to regain lost traction in the Indian Mobile market. After several price drops the company is now considering desperate measures, and in the said attempt has launched a new mobile device for India. The new Blackberry 9220 belongs to the curve class, and is know as the “most affordable” Blackberry, priced at Rs. 10990 (US $ 219).

Whats more the company is adding in a free set of apps worth Rs. 2500 (about $50) if you get on board before June 30th. This unique blackberry also has a FM radio and Wifi capabilities, but is lacking a 3G radio. You also get a 2MP (no flash) camera and 512MB of Ram, an expandable microSD slot. The display is a 2.44 inch 240×320 px LCD and the battery is a fairly big 1450 mAh.

Nokia is finally bringing the Asha 303 to India for a price of Rs. 8899 this QWERTY phone was announced in 2011, and is now on sale for as low as 7750/- at some online retailers. It also comes bundled with 1GB of free Vodafone 3G/2G data per month for 4 months incase thats your network of choice.

Micromax SuperFone Lite A75 Hands On

We just got hold of a unit of the Micromax A75 SuperFone and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on with the device. Before i get down and dirty unboxing the unit, here are a bunch of sneak peak images for the A75.

The build quality of the device is fairly surprising, its really well built. The overall form factor and shape feels really good in the hand and fits well. First impressions of he unit show that the display is bright and vivid and the screen is very responsive. The device does not show lag or slow down while moving from screen to screen or navigating the menus. The device comes preloaded with Android 2.3.4 and is supposedly good enough for Ice Cream Sandwich, But no official words on that. (We are still struggling with 2.3 on A70). The device is more expensive looking than it actually is. It also comes with unique UI enhancements done by Micromax that make the experience a little better.

Specs include a 650Mhz processor, a nice 3.75 inch 320×480 capacitive screen, Android 2.3.4, 10.9 mm thickness, 1300 mah battery, the standard Wifi b/g/n- Bluetooth 3.0. Not to forget the fact that this is a dual sim phone, both gsm+gsm.

Most of Micromax’s new marketing and dev team is from HTC so you will start to see some Ui flavor(maybe its because i already know this fact). The device is an excellent add on the the Under 10k list and will definitely make the holiday list of the phones to get under 10k. The Motorola XT615 has been spotted getting FCC approvals and stickers. XT615 remains targeted solely at international markets with dual-band 2100 / 900MHz WCDMA and quad band GSM support. Powered by a modest 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227A-0 CPU, the phone has sleek design addressing to younger consumers. A 4-inch touchscreen edge-to-edge display with FWVGA (854 x 480) resolution, Moto Switch UI 2.0, 512MB of RAM, a 1GB of ROM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 3.0., an 8MP rear-facing camera with a LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera for video calls, and a MicroSD card slot supports up to 32GB expansion.

Samsung Galaxy Y Full Review

Times have changed over the years, but never did we see the smartphones reach the consumer market with such a blow that feature phones would almost disappear.

The new Samsung Galaxy Y offers a complete package for a fairly low budget, But is it actually a full smartphone ?

Lets find out in this iGyaan review :

Build Quality and Hardware

The Galaxy Y is well built to an extent where you wont be disappointed by any thing in terms of the exterior of the device. The screen is not tough so a screen protector is essential for the device. Every-thing else is built to last and will not need any extra care, solid built, tactile buttons and no rattle or noise from the body of the device.

Screen and Multimedia

The screen on the device is a 3 inch 320×240 px capacitive display, its a relatively low res display, but its leaps and bounds better than the one found on the Pop and Fit. Why ? You ask. There is a massive difference in the pixellation levels of the Galaxy Y and the POP, on the Pop you aslo only get Android 2.2, this device comes preloaded with 2.3.5 and a display that does not bother you at all with reading webpages etc.

The screen is decent for movie playback and the speakerphone is loud enough to get the message across. This device will feature as a portable media player for many a youth, but don’t expect it to replace a TV or even an iPod. Audio quality is good but is only limited with the hardware chip used. The maximum throughput of sound is limited hence will not deliver performance compared to even the Wildfire S. The Audio is not really an issue because an everyday user will not notice it, as the device produces a loud sound with or without the earphones, whcih is mostly enough for a consumer.

Phone, Network and Messaging

The device is an excellent phone, with robust network connectivity and a solid signal strength. We noticed no dropped calls in the extensive network tests conducted. Audio (incoming and outgoing) on both channels was crisp and loud, with no feedback issues. The “Y” gets a great rating because it does a good job of what its basic purpose is: to make and receive calls.

Messaging on the device is also easy and is demonstrated in our video review. Typing is simple thanks to an error correction algorithm by Samsung, which utilizes a most common error path and auto corrects the text errors. Pretty fancy for a sub 7k phone. You also get SWYPE inbuilt on the keyboard making it very useful indeed.

Data, Internet and Battery

By now we have learnt that Android devices are no too data friendly. Turning data on and off when required will boost your battery life enormously. That being said this device also features 3G data connectivity and HSDPA upto 7.25 Mbps. The connections are stable and not too power consuming, the Wifi Hotspot feature works great and does not suck the life forces from your device, like it used to on previous devices.

Internet connectivity is stable on both Wifi and 3G and the browser loads all sorts of Flash content, with a bit of hiccups. Browser is easily readable and on a screen this size you cant expect much more. The basics can be accessed from this browser, but its not a replacement for your computer.

Companies talk about battery life in their own mood, we do some extensive real life tests to get out the best from the device.

Conclusion:

The Galaxy Y is now available for a price of 6800 INR on most online portals, possibly at a cheaper price at local vendors. At that price to get a 800+ MHz processor with native Android 2.3.5 capacitive touchscreen Wifi , 3G and Hotspot, we have no complaints from this device. Why should we? This is a complete device and offers anything you would need as a first time Android user on a budget, and also basics for somebody looking for a secondary device. It looks great, is manufactured by a trusted brand and has great service and support for a budget.
