Honor Rolls Out Its Wearable Portfolio In India

In a launch event earlier today, Honor rolled out a collection of three wearable devices under the Honor Wearable Portfolio in India. Some exciting devices to look at, Honor is aiming to target a far more wide audience with the latest wearables, which include the Honor Watch, the Honor Band 4 and the Honor Band 4 Running. Read on to find out the specs and the features that these devices bring to the Indian tech market.

HONOR Band 4, Honor Band 4 Running Edition

When the Honor Band 3 was first released in India, it impressed a lot of people. A sleek look combined with the aggressive pricing was one of the major factors that accounted for the success of the Honor Band 3.

This time around, Honor Band 4 is here to stay. With hints of design from the predecessor, and a lot of fresh features, the Honor Band 4 looks like an attractive wearable, which is equally functional too. With a full color AMOLED display and Real-time Heartbeat Monitoring, it’s an amazing piece of tech to get a lower price than the competition.

The Honor Band 4 features a full colour touchscreen display, crafted from 2.5D glass. This ensures a high resistance to scratches, so that the Band may be used during your day-to-day activities. Huawei’s TruSleep technology allows you to track your sleep in a whole new detailed manner. It even provides you advice regarding common sleeping problems. Also, TruSeen helps you to track your heart-beat in Real-time, ensuring that you get high heartbeat alerts immediately.

Every wearable device is expected to be water resistant these days. Why? Because nobody wants to take their band/watch off every time they shower or go swimming. Fortunately, the Honor Band 4 is water resistant up to 50 meters. It can even recognize your swimstrokes and calculate the number of your turns and calories. Who said that fitness bands have to be limited to running?

The Honor Band 4 Running Edtion is specifically made for running though. Also, a key difference between both the bands is the availability of 5 dual-colour finishes in the Running Edition instead of the conventional 3 colours in the Honor Band 4. The Running Edition has almost half the display size of the Honor Band 4, but the catch is not that.

The Band 4 Running Edition has an inbuilt 6-axis sensor, which can monitor your running posture . How does it do that? Simple. You fix the device on your shoe. It even measures your landing pattern, angles and step lengths that professionals go for. This is something that hasn’t been focused on before, but here you go!

You can always use your Honor Band to locate your phone if you have misplaced it. It’s a workout trainer, notifier and even a remote control if you want to take those amazing selfies with your Huawei device. As far as the battery is concerned, the Honor band 4 can last up to 17 days under normal use, and that too on a single charge. That’s a whole lot of battery life, we have to say.

The Honor Band 4 will be priced at Rs. 2,599. The Running Edition of the same will be priced at Rs. 1,599, which is comparatively lower.

HONOR Watch

While the Honor Band 4 focuses more on fitness, the Honor Watch Magic aims towards embedding itself in your daily activities, in addition to being the watch that it is. It’s 9.8 mm thick, and is crafted using 316L stainless steel, making it extra lightweight and comfortable for day-to-day use. Laser Engraving gives a really catchy look to the whole design. The watch is available in two colours, and is available with a two-sided strap.

The Honor Watch sports a 1.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen, with a resolution of 390 x 390 px. At 326 ppi, the Watch aims to offer a colour-rich usage experience. As per Huawei’s claims, the Watch runs on a dual-chipset, which intricately balances power consumption and the performance of the smartwatch. It even strives to provide a 7-day battery life.

Just like the Honor Band 4, the Honor Watch is equipped with HUAWEI TruSeen™ 3.0, which brings real-time heart rate monitoring to this wearable too. It has the same features which the Huawei Honor Band 4 boasts of, but more. The Sports version of the Honor Watch will be priced at Rs. 13,999, whereas the Premium version of the same will be priced at Rs. 14,999.

Super Thin Nanoscale Tech Can Be Worn Like A Second Skin

Its time to ditch those bulky and rigid health sensors and make way for much more comfortable and wearable electronics. While there have been lot of skin based wearables which monitor heart rate and other vital health signals, Scientists have come up with a new lightweight, super stretchy tech which can be directly attached onto the skin for more sensitive and precise measurements with durability as an added plus. This ultra thin and stretchable gold nano-mesh is the latest development in the wearable tech department. Scientists have created a stretchable electronic film that could monitor health by being attached to our skin. Like straight out of a sci-fi movie, this tech is capable of recording data through skin. Unlike most skin based sensors available today which are bulky and impractical, the nanoscale skin eliminates the factors which cause discomfort like rigidity, uneasiness which makes them less popular.

How Does It Work

Scientists use a mesh-like structure of metallic nano-filaments which dissolve under water, leaving the electronic part directly on the skin allowing you to easily bend and flex as you would. Twenty participants who wore it for a week reported no problems with the external skin. The skin didn’t get itchy or inflamed and the wearable didn’t break for the duration of the test. This makes the new skin an ideal solution for precise long-term medical monitoring and as an added plus, it looks like a funky gold tattoo.

Each nano-filament i.e. electrically charged thread is about 300-500 nm in diameter and coated in a thin layer of real gold. The entire mesh-like film structure is then put on the skin and just as mentioned water is sprayed to dissolve the ultra-thin layer of polyvinyl alcohol – a water soluble synthetic polymer, which has passed hypoallergenic testing. The gold threads remain and can be used to send data to a laptop or power an LED. A flexible battery can placed at the end of the nano mesh conductor to facilitate the flow of the electric current to power the LED. The only downside to this wearable is the sensor is delicate and may not be durable in the long run. But, that’s the next step of the process.

BitBite is Your Mom on the Move, Tells You to Eat Right and Chew Slowly

Eating healthy is hard. With the massive amount of junk food options in the market to gobble up, a healthy diet takes a back seat. So how do you keep fit in the times when you have to be on the move and eat fast to get back to work? Your mom cannot be everywhere with you to make sure you eat right, but one tinsy tiny gadget might just take her place to maintain your eating habit.

Say hello to BitBite, a tiny wearable that slips comfortably in your ear and using sound and motion, observes if you are eating right and chewing through. This wearable tracks what you eat, when you eat and how you eat. Using the analysis of sound and tracking patterns of your jaw movement, it observes what you eat. In the future, the device will be able to suggest you healthy alternatives to what you are eating.

The mobile app does the number crunching and analyzes your eating habits.

According to the creators of the device, this minuscule device was developed in co-operation with dieticians and nutritionists. It contains a microphone and additional sensors that record and perform initial processing of the incoming sounds, after which the smartphone app takes care of the number crunching bit. Fortunately, unlike your mom, you can turn it off when you are really in a mood to indulge into some gooey goodness.

If you don’t want to join the BlueDouche tribe, then there are some other options to get BitBite by which can start healthy grubbing. The device gives you the option of wearing it on your lapel with a clip in a wristband. It functions as a regular Bluetooth device when not eating.

There are multiple attachments for the BitBite.

The device works with both iOS and Android devices. The company has achieved 75% of its initial goal of $60,000 on Indiegogo, with 22 days still left to go.
