Ready for the first OTA iOS update ever? The iOS 5.0.1 as promised by Apple is already being pushed out. The new update fixes the battery life problems as seen in the existing version of iOS aka iOS 5. This update will also enable app swatting gestures on the iPad which were earlier available only to developers. Siri Fully ported and running on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th gen yet with no future
Troughton-Smith has been able to successfully port Siri to the iPhone 4 along with a full connection to Apple Servers. The video below not only shows the Siri functionality on an iPhone 4, but is in depth and shows a side-to-side comparison against its newer, faster sibling, the iPhone 4S. The port proves that the software can easily be enabled on the older device and hence points a finger at Apple for not doing so.
Smith did use a jailbroken iPhone 4s to port the necessary files to the older iPhone 4 which was also jailbroken. When asked if he would seed Siri as a package on Cydia he replied
No, I could not be a part of that. I have no doubts that others will package this up and distribute it quasi-illegally, or try and sell it to people. I am only interested in the technology and making it work; proving that it works and works well on the iPhone 4 and other devices.
So despite the fact it can be done, Smith will not be the one to enable it on your device. Apple has to man up to the truth and enable it for the users, until some Jailbreak dev who is not afraid of Apple Law-Suits does it anyway.

German court permanently bans Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Apple vs Samsung, Indian courts approached
German judge Johanna Brueckner-Hoffman has ruled in Apple’s favor on Friday by banning Samsung from selling its GALAXY Tab 1o.1 tablets in Germany.
The court is of the opinion that Apple’s minimalistic design isn’t the only technical solution to make a tablet computer, other designs are possible
– Said the Judge
Apple has also blocked Samsung from selling its GALAXY Tab 10.1 in Australia until a court there rules whether or not the tablet infringes on 10 of Apple’s patents. Apple has also approached the Indian courts to seek ban on sales of the Galaxy 750 in India. The benefit for Samsung here is that Apple will not be able to use the german courts ruling, because the name of the two devices is different. i.e. the Galaxy 750 in India and Galaxy Tab 10.1 rest of the world. Whether Samsung India was already expecting the legal battle is unknown.
Samsung, meanwhile, plans to appeal the ruling in a higher court and a spokesman said
We are disappointed with this ruling and believe it severely limits consumer choice in Germany.”

Apple gets MagSafe patent for iOS based Portable devices
Apple ended the wire plug fury of Laptops, especially Apple laptops with the introduction of the magsafe connector in 2006. The Magsafe connector detaches on being pulled hence keeping the device safe when a clumsy owner trips over the wire. This is not the case with the current iPhone and iPad connectors, making them vulnerable to damage. With this new patent , Apple hopes to end that war of man vs wire and with wireless syncs just a iOS update away, one can see magsafe power connectors in the next gen iDevices.
