The Iconic Moto RAZR Might Come Back As A Foldable Smartphone

Back in 2004, way before the rise of Android and iOS, the Moto RAZR was one of the most sought-after phones. The flip phone looked premium and at the time of the launch, was wanted by almost everyone. Nokia, at that time, was the most successful phone maker and the Moto RAZR was a worthy competitor. It sold over 130 million units during its run.

Since then, Motorola has gone on to be owned by Google, and then Lenovo. It now makes Android smartphones that are nothing like the Moto RAZR. However, there is still hope. There is a possibility of the Moto RAZR making a comeback in the smartphone industry. However, don’t take our word. This is according to a comment made by the CEO of Lenovo:

With the new technology, particularly foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design. So hopefully what you just described (referring to the Moto RAZR brand) will be developed or realized very soon.

When asked to confirm if he was specifically referring to the RAZR, he replied, “I think I have already answered the question”. It is fair to say that the company has plans for reimagining a classic with the modern-day technology. However, don’t hold your breath to it as this smartphone could be a few years away.

However, what will be interesting to see is the implementation of the modern-day smartphone. Much like what Nokia has done, we could see a revamped Moto RAZR with updated features, camera, and a build reminiscent of the old Moto RAZR. On the other hand, it could be a complete revamp of the old phone. Lenovo could launch a foldable smartphone running Android which folds to look like the Moto RAZR. Opportunities, as they say, are endless here.

    Conclusion

HMD Global, in particular, has been instrumental in reviving a few Nokia classics. Right from the Nokia 3310 4G model to the recently launched Nokia 8810 4G, some classics have been revamped to suit the current market. Since the Moto RAZR was such an iconic phone and has been a part of the pop culture in that era, it could be a great move for Lenovo-Moto.

Nokia 8110 4G Officially Launched At MWC 2018

Nokia launches a refreshed version of the infamous version of the Nokia 8810 with 4G capability. The company calls the Nokia 8810 4G as the vacation or weekend phone. However, for the phone of this calibre, it packs powerful internals and an impressive design.

    Design:

The Nokia 8110 4G comes with unique curved design, with a swappable keypad cover, which comes in black and banana yellow colour. However, the device will be available from April 2018 for an average price of 79 Euros.

The Nokia 8810 4G takes the design hints from the original Nokia 8810, which was launched in 1998. The phone comes with a T4 keypad with a replaceable back panel. The design does bring back the nostalgia feelings back into 2018.

    Specifications:

The Nokia 8810 4G comes with a 2.4-inch display with 240x 320 px resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 1.1 Ghz dual core chipset with 512 MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage. However, the smartphone does memory expansion using an external SD card.

The phone comes with 2 MP primary camera with an LED flash, with VGA quality video recording capability. The phone packs in a user replaceable 1500 mAh battery with micro USB port for charging and data syncing. However, there is no front-facing camera on the phone, which is little disappointing.

The device supports dual SIM cards with support for 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. In fact, the 4G data can be wirelessly shared using the built-in WiFi hotspot feature. Unlike the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 8810 does retain the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The smartphone runs on custom Smart Feature OS, which comes with Google Maps, Google Assistance and Google Now. In fact, it also features apps like Facebook and Twitter. Additional apps can also be downloaded via the app store.
