Samsung launches the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India for INR 57,900 and INR 64,900, respectively. The phone will go on sale on May 5th and will be available exclusively on Flipkart and on the Samsung Store.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the company’s first major launch since the Note 7 which never made it to India. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are pricer in India, when compared to global prices, however, if you preorder the phone here you get a free wireless charger.

Samsung had launched the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ globally on March 29th, the new infinity display is one of the most interesting features of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, but general user perception leads to the phones being that much more fragile. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ for India will belong to the “Make in India” program from Samsung.

Both the phones run a new 10 nm chipset, The S8 has an Octa core (2.3GHz Quad + 1.7GHz Quad), 64 bit chipset while the S8+ will have an Octa core (2.35GHz Quad + 1.9GHz Quad), 64 bit chipset.

    Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have a 4GB RAM (LPDDR4), 64GB (UFS 2.1) storage, the Galaxy S8 has a 5.8” (146.5mm) Quad HD+ 2960×1440 px display with a 570ppi while the S8+ has a 6.2” (158.1mm) Quad HD+ 2960×1440 px display  with a 529ppi density. Both have Samsung’s own super-AMOLED display.

For cameras both phones get a main Dual Pixel 12MP OIS (F1.7), Front: 8MP AF (F1.7). While the battery on the Galaxy S8 is 3000 man, the S8plus has a 3500 mAh battery. Both support fast charging and wireless charging as well.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ has a HDR certified display, which should give the best color and contrast for video content. Both the phones have iP68 water and dust resistance.

The home button sits below the display, where if you press down on the screen near the bottom it mimics the feel of the button much like Apple’s latest Touch ID haptics, but inside the main display.

Samsung has also launched Bixby, an intelligent Artificial interface. The phones have a new Bixby button that allow you to navigate through services and apps with simple voice, touch, vision and text commands. Contextual awareness capabilities enable Bixby to offer personalized help based on what it continues to learn about the user’s interests, situation and location.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ both have an iris scanner merged into facial recognition just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ users will get a Double Data offer on the Jio network. On a monthly recharge of INR 309 users will enjoy 448 GB of 4G data over 8 months. With this Double Data offer Samsung Galaxy S8 users can experience a truly unconstrained Digital Life on Jio’s world-class all-IP data strong only-4G network.

  • New leaked Image Of The Samsung Galaxy S8 Shows No Home Button and Dual Edge Display

New leaked Image Of The Samsung Galaxy S8 Shows No Home Button and Dual Edge Display

Samsung may have to make some hard choices this year with their Samsung Galaxy S8. Rumors are already pointing to the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack and the inclusion of the wireless headphones. Samsung may have a lot of disappointed fans due to this move. But, just like with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, consumers will move on from this.

The new image leak of the Samsung Galaxy S8 from Chinese website notorious for leaks indicates a thin top and bottom bezel on a the old dual edge display, except this time there is no home button and fingerprint scanner. If the image is an actual leak, the Samsung Galaxy S8 could very well be the first phone with a fingerprint sensor that sits behind the display, hence, removing the need of a separate component.

If the design is real, and it appears to be either real or an exceptionally good replica, then the Samsung Galaxy S8 may also lack touch capacitive buttons and utilize on-screen buttons from the Android OS. Alternatively the controls could be on either side of the Samsung logo seen at the bottom.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 May Be Bezel-less And Sport 4K Display

Samsung Galaxy S8 May Be Bezel-less And Sport 4K Display

According to reports from Korean publications Samsung is moving hard and fast towards the Samsung Galaxy S8. The upcoming phone will apparently ditch the home button for a full screen experience killing the top and bottom bezel as well.

The full display front will still house a fingerprint scanner, but it will be under the touchscreen OLED Display and not in a button. The display will be a big play for Samsung for the Galaxy S8 launch allowing Samsung  to fill the front side of the phone with an edge-to-edge display.

Samsung will keep the Dual Edges seen on the S7 Edge, while rumours in the past have mentioned a 4K display for Samsung’s next years flagship.

Samsung is barely moving on from the Note 7 Explosion fiasco, a launch of its next model flagship may actually save the hugely affected mobile business.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is also expected to appear with a new Exynos chipset for Global markets and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830s Chipset for the US and select other markets. Samsung will launch only one S8 with the edge display removing the non-edge phone from its lineup.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first Samsung phone to feature a dual-camera setup on the rear camera. However, unlike Apple iPhone 7 Plus, the 16 megapixels and 8 megapixels sensors will not be used for a zoom feature. Samsung will also jump on the RAM cart with 6 GB of RAM and offer 128 and 256 GB storage options.
