OnePlus 5T Sandstone White Is The Star Wars Edition Minus The Logo

In late-December, OnePlus started teasing the launch of another variant of the OnePlus 5T. It was expected that the company will launch a new phone with a sandstone finish, that became famous thanks to the OnePlus One and OnePlus Two. On January 5th, the company launched the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White at the same price as the original OnePlus 5T.

The OnePlus 5T Sandstone White is essentially the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition minus the promotional bells and whistles. Right from the red colour alert slider to a different hue around the fingerprint sensor, the Sandstone White is the same Star Wars Edition but, for other markets. The Star Wars Edition OnePlus 5T that we unboxed, was an India-exclusive device hence, it is fair to assume that the Sandstone White variant won’t be entering the Indian market anytime soon.

OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition

The Sandstone White is no way close to what the OnePlus One looked or felt like. Even though the back is textured, it is just not as grippy as the original OnePlus One and its sandstone finish back panel. However, a textured aluminium back will always be grippier than a brushed aluminium back found on the original OnePlus 5T. This also gives OnePlus 5T buyers a different colour option other than the Midnight Black which has become increasingly common.

Apart from the Sandstone White, the OnePlus 5T in a Lava Red colour is expected to be launched in India in late-January. A new report claims that in order to utilise the holiday sales, OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 5T Lava Red in India on January 23rd. It also supports the argument by stating that Amazon (OnePlus’ preferred online partner) rarely launches a device on a national holiday or weekend.

OnePlus 5T Midnight Black

Considering the company’s pricing strategy for the Sandstone White variant, the Lava Red colour could enter the Indian market with the same price tag as its Midnight Black sibling. If so, then the new colour could well become the new fan favourite.

OnePlus Could Be Launching A Sandstone Variant Of The OnePlus 5T

OnePlus might be bringing back a fan-favourite in the coming weeks. On its official YouTube channel, OnePlus released a video of average London citizens explaining what they’re feeling about the product inside a mystery box. The video proceeds with people giving their own versions of what could be inside the box and a few people point out that it felt like the sandstone OnePlus One from back in the day.

OnePlus Two

The OnePlus One was a groundbreaking smartphone in more than one ways. It became famous for providing flagship specifications at less than half the price of an average flagship. But, another standout feature of the phone was the choice of easily replaceable back panels of the phone. The one that became the most prominent was the Sandstone finish panel. OnePlus continued the trend with the OnePlus Two but, with the OnePlus X and then the OnePlus 3, the company moved on to more conventional finishes for their phones with brushed aluminium built.

The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T again saw a shift in design and finish of the phone. However, in December of 2017, the Chinese smartphone maker launched the OnePlus 5T Star Wars limited edition variant with a back panel that had a similar finish to the original OnePlus One Sandstone finish. Although not entirely sandstone, the slightly textured back was definitely reminiscent of the old OnePlus devices.

The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T have already been launched in limited edition variants in 2017. It could be possible that OnePlus is looking to attract a few forgotten consumers with an offering which is as close to the OnePlus One (barring the price) as it could get. The OnePlus 5T has a great modern design with thin bezels and a tall display, and with the addition of that signature Sandstone finish, the OnePlus 5T could be a great phone for a lot of people who prefer the feel of the OnePlus One but, also want the latest specifications on a budget.

Review : OnePlus SandStone Case for iPhone 6 / 6s

To our surprise we got a OnePlus Sandstone Case for the iPhone 6 / 6s in the mail and we were excited to unbox it. Once we got the cover out into our hands we were surprised by how well the case is built and the texture of the back panel resembles or some may argue betters that on the OnePlus Two.

Looks like OnePlus hit everyone in the right place as far as marketing is concerned for the holidays.

Inside the Box

The box is nicely made and comes with a case fitted nicely inside the cutout. You use a red thread to open the box. Hidden inside is a OnePlus X invite under the top case.

Review

The car is built well and fits perfectly on the iPhone. The inside has the marking ” Get a Grip, Never Settle” perfectly taunting you. The cutouts for all the ports are generous, while still protecting the phone from crucial areas.

The OnePlus Sandstone Case for the iPhone 6 / 6s also has a OnePlus logo on the back which may not make the owners happy, but hey we don’t mind it.

The Sandstone case adds a reassuring grip to the iPhone 6 / 6s for obvious reasons and very little weight. Giving the iPhone a more reassuring feel in the hand.

The frontal portion / also known as a front lip raises far above the iPhone adding protection and a lay on the table design.

While OnePlus may not be competing with Apple in sales, it may have made iPhone 6 / 6s owners curious with this case for sure.

OnePlus gets 10/10 for making people buy this cover for US $ 19.99 or Rs. 1,199 when it goes on sale later this month. Basically making people pay for marketing their brand. Good Job OnePlus , Oh and its a fantastic cover too.
