Facebook For Android Update Brings Better Cover Photos Management

The official Facebook for Android application has been upgraded in the Google Play Store to make life easier on those who tend to change their profile cover photo quite often. Users can now make the change right from their timeline instead of having to dig through settings and go through the grueling, nerve-wrecking task of pressing button upon button upon button.

No one ever accused Facebook of being swift or thorough with its app updates, but they’re at least usually very welcome when they arrive. Back in 2011, the social network introduced ‘Timeline’, the now-mandatory profile layout that gives you one giant photo at the top, with a secondary profile picture in the bottom-left corner. Up until recently, you couldn’t change your cover photo on mobile. Now, in version 2.2, you can.

Again, not a huge feature but certainly appreciated. We’d love Facebook to redesign the app or, barring that, improve the performance of the one we have. But the company clearly has different priorities.  That said, today’s upgrade is waiting for you in the Google Play Store so get over there to check it out.

Temple Run 2 for Android has also been updated, the developers have added the ability to restore the coin doubler if you happened to have re-installed the app on your device and purchased the power up.

Temple Run 2, the mobile infinite runner, has surpassed 50 million downloads in just 13 days. This breaks a record established by Angry Birds Space, which went on to achieve the coveted 50 million downloads milestone in 35 days.

The game was launched on January 17 on iOS, and arrived in the Google Play Store on January 24, proving one of the most popular mobile titles out there very fast.
Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of parent company Imangi. “The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time.”
The original Temple Run saw 170 million total downloads during its tenure. Christmas downloads were explosive for the first version, seeing 2.5 million on Christmas day alone.

The Temple Run franchise was created by a husband-and-wife development team Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanova in Raleigh, North Carolina. The studio has since added a team of additional developers.

Temple Run 2 is available on iTunes and Google Play now as a free download but, as with the first game, there are plenty of in-app purchasing options to buy coins and gems in order to enhance the game in a more speedy fashion.

We expect 100 million downloads to be here quick.

The highly-acclaimed Temple Run for Android has just its deserved sequel. Keith Sheperd, co-founder of Imangi Studios, creators of the game, has just announced Temple Run 2 has been published on Google Play Store.

The sequel to the popular endless runner game promises “beautiful new graphics, gorgeous new environments and new obstacles”. And as well as running, sliding and jumping, you can now also swing on a rope and ride in a mine cart.

Initially launched on iOS, Temple Run 2 shot to the top of the free-app chart last week within eight hours of its release. Within 24 hours it had clocked up an astonishing six million downloads and on Monday, just four days after it first landed in the iOS app store, maker Imangi Studios announced it had been downloaded over 20 million times. Expect the Android version to follow suit.

Thanks to in-app purchases, Temple Run 2 has also landed in third spot in the iOS top-grossing-apps chart.
”The response from fans has been overwhelming. We are thrilled players want more of the Temple Run universe, and we hope to grow and expand the game over the coming months,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi.
In June last year, Imangi Studios had teamed up with Disney for a special edition of the game and brought Temple Run Brave for iOS and Android, with the the locale and character based on the Disney – Pixar movie, Brave. You are in control of Merida, the main protagonist – helping her run, slide, jump and turn and shoot your way across the wilds of Scotland.

Temple Run 2 Hits 20 Million Downloads in Four Days

Temple Run 2, the sequel to Imangi Studios’ immensely popular mobile game, has been downloaded over 20 million in its first four days on the iTunes App Store.

It didn’t hurt that upon its release Apple promoted the run-for-your-life game to Editors Choice, putting it front and centre in its App Store carousel. The brand, however, speaks for itself. The original has been downloaded over 170 million times across the Android and iOS ecosystems (including Amazon) but its sequel looks to quickly surpass it. The free-to-play game emphasizes in-app purchases, too much in our opinion, but it’s still a great game to play with a few minutes to kill.

The game’s co-creator, Keith Shepherd, tweeted over the weekend that Temple Run 2 had surpassed 10 million users in Game Center, Apple’s online leader board, and was quickly catching Cut The Rope and Angry Birds: Seasons in overall usage. Pretty incredible stats considering the number of game choices out there for people to peruse.

Last year, Angry Birds Space rocketed to 10 million downloads in its first three days, but those numbers included Android, Amazon and Windows Phone platforms as well. It will be interesting to see in a week or so how the addition of Android contributes to Temple Run 2?s download numbers.
