Yi Action And Yi 4K Action Cameras Go On Sale In India
Yi is a Chinese camera manufacturer that is backed by Xiaomi. The company had previously launched the Yi action and Yi 4K action cameras in China. The cameras have a small form factor and can be mounted to various surfaces with the help of brackets which are sold separately. Both the cameras can click still shots, capture videos and also shoot time lapse pictures. The cameras have been unoficially available in India from sites like Amazon and eBay but they were priced much higher due to import duties. Now Yi technology has officially launched the cameras in India which are exclusively available on Flipkart.

Design

Both Yi Action and Yi 4K Action cameras have a cuboidal shape with a protruding camera lens from the front. The biggest difference between the two cameras is that the Yi 4K has a 2.19-inch touchscreen display which the Yi Action camera lags. The devices have side and top mounted buttons which allow for easy operability. The Yi Action camera weighs in at a mere 76 grams and the Yi 4K weighs in at 96 grams.

Specifications And Optics

The Yi Action camera has 16 MP Sony IMX 206 sensor and the Yi 4K Action camera has 12 MP IMX377 sensor. Sensors on both the camera are equipped with f/2.8 aperture and both cameras use Ambarella processors. Both the Yi Action and Yi 4K cameras have a 55-degree field of view. Most notably the former has 6 layered glass while the latter gets 7 layered glass.

The Yi Action cam can capture 1080p videos at 60 fps while the elder Yi 4k can capture 2160p videos at 60 fps. Both cameras have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that allows the user to wirelessly share files with a smartphone. The cameras also have a micro USB port which can be used for charging and data transfer. The Yi Action camera duo supports memory cards of up to 128 GB. The Yi 4K has a bigger 1240 mAh battery compared to Yi Action’s 1010 mAh.

New Yi Action Cameras Launching On Flipkart On December 17

The Yi Action Camera and the Yi 4K Action camera will go on sale on Flipkart starting December 17th. Yi cameras were previously available on Amazon’s India website since 2017 exclusively.

The 4K+ action camera can shoot 720p videos at 60/120 and 240 fps and 4K at 60fps. It can also shoot 1080p videos at 60/50/30 and 25 frames per second and 1440p at 30 and 25 fps. The 4K camera takes 2.5K videos at fps rates of 30 and 25 as well. The camera also has slow motion video capture and can record video and take time lapse pictures at the same time. The video length captured by this camera is 5 min, 20 min, 60 min and 120 min. It also features a built-in 3 axis gyroscope and 3 axis accelerometer. Yi 4K+ action camera reportedly also has video stabilisation built in. It uses a cross-border compensation algorithm to compensate the motion change to produce stable videos. The camera also senses the available light and adjusts the frame rate and parameters automatically.

Yi is one of the biggest competitors for GoPro in the action camera segment and have been doing well in many markets owing to their low pricing.

Inside the hood, the camera has a Sony IMX377, 1/2.3″, 12 megapixels CMOS image sensor with Exmor R ability. The Exmor R is a back-illuminated version of Sony’s CMOS image sensor. It boasts of a 2.19 inch touchscreen with a 640x 360 resolution. The screen’s aspect ratio is 16:9 and has a 160 Degree field of view. It also features a 128 GB flash memory. The camera has a 1400 mAh battery which is also decent. The two cameras are marked as “Coming soon” in Flipkart at the moment. While the current landing page for these cameras are displaying exorbitant prices, the two cameras will reportedly be priced at Rs 4,999 and Rs 9,999 respectively. It is available in two colours which are Black and White.

Yi Action Camera

Unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, the Xiaomi-manufactured Yi Action camera is a device taking the Chinese brand into a new arena, ruled by GoPro. The camera priced at CNY 399 (approximately Rs. 3,900) holds 16MP camera with Sony’s Exmor R BSI CMOS image sensor that records a video at 1080p (60fps). Weighing a mere 72 grams, Yi Action waterproof camera holds a storage capacity of 64GB.

Mi TV

A series of Mi TVs have been launched by Xioami in the international market. The 47-inch 3D Mi TV is virtually frameless with 8.4mm frame and features a 1920x1080p Full HD display. Inside the TV is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.7G processor, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB DDR3 of memory and 8GB of storage. Users can connect their gaming controller and headphones via Bluetooth 4.0 to their television sets. Along with that, Xiaomi’s TV supports Dolby Stereo and DTS.

Mi Wi-Fi 6TB Router

Firming foothold deep into the consumer electronics market, Xiaomi recently launched a new Wi-Fi router that offers high-speed connectivity and is claimed to improve 2.4G performance by 100 percent and 5G connectivity by 30 percent. The device holds a 1.4GHz Broadcom 4709c dual-core chipset and 512MB flash memory along with offering 6TB hard drive for content storage. The 6TB Mi Wi-Fi will cost 2,999 Yuan (approx. Rs. 30,800). Xiaomi also introduced Mi Wi-Fi Amplifier along with Mi Wi-Fi. When the Amplifier is plugged into the router, it expands the Wi-Fi range without any hassle of wires. The Mi Wi-Fi Amplifier is priced at 39 Yuan (somewhere Rs. 400).

Yi Smart Webcam

Yi Ants Smart Webcam, is a multi-purpose camera that works as a webcam for chatting as well as security camera with recording capabilities. With 111 degrees wide-angle lens and 4x zoom, the Yi Smart Webcam offers a resolution of 720p and allows users to make two-way voice calls. Xiaomi has also launched a night vision edition, which can record even in the dark with 940mm infrared sensor. It is priced at 149 RMB, which translates to Rs 1,532 (approx.)
