Samsung Launches 4G-Equipped Galaxy S5 in India

At the very least, we can give credit to Samsung for understanding the need of the hour. With Airtel and Aircel racing to provide India with 4G cover, Samsung has decided to launch a 4G variant of its Flagship Device at the price of Rs 53,500.

While most of its features remain the same as the 3G S5, some of the key features of the new 4G variant include:

  •  Qualcomm 8974 Pro 2.5 Ghz processor
  • Supports Eight 4G LTE bands support
  • Advanced Camera (HDR mode, Selective Focus)
  • IP67 protection (Dust and Water Resistant)
  • Ultra Power Saving Mode (24 hours standby time with 10% battery)
  • Download Booster
  • Wi-Fi MIMO

For this device, Samsung and Airtel have tied up and are making a special data offer to Samsung S5 customers. All existing and new Airtel 4G subscribers will get 5GB 4G data/month free for 2 months. The device will be available in India from 20th July in Copper Gold, Charcoal Black and Shimmery White colour options.

One of the impressive features of this phone is the Download Booster. It allows users to access 4G and Wi-Fi simultaneously, resulting in super high connectivity.

All this sounds pretty fancy, but we’d advise recommend you not to make a hasty purchase, since the brand is notorious for reducing its prices.

Hi, I am not a very tech savvy person and I wish to upgrade from my BB 9790 to a another smatphone. I am willing to invest a amount on a phone which i can use for another 4-5 years and doesn’t get obsolete in terms of technology.
Hence, i have narrowed down on a Samsug Galaxy S5 4G-LTE model, mainly because of the 4G compatibilty. I understand that it supports following 4G bands: B1(2100),B2(1900),B3(1800),B5(850),B7(2600),B8(900),B28(700)
Can somebody suggest, would be a good bet and would be able to support current & future 4G spectrum in India?

Bought the best smartphone on the planet. Loving it. :) Even went inside the sea with my Samsung Galaxy S5 4G Copper Gold :) Even the looks are amazing :) A phone without having water – proof features and a camera better than the IPhone 5s is no good..

Why did Samsung first launch the 3G version in India? Did they think that Indians are stupid and they would lap up their crappy products for a whopping amount 52000/-? When the sale did not pick up within a month they reduced the price drastically and now it is selling for about 35000/-. What is this stupidity? 20000/- reduction within 2 months.Don’t buy anything from cheaters who disparage us by releasing an inferior product in India and a better one in their own or other countries.

Not a fanboy but I would rather buy the HTC ONE E8 for 34k.
    *4g LTE
    *A better unibody design (polycarbonate)
    *Snapdragon 801@ 2.5 ghz
    *13 megapixel
    * the best part is that there is no bloatware.
CRAPSUNG FOR 53500?? No thank you :P

    Why make multiple 3G / non 3G and 4G / non 4G versions?
Just make one global version like the iPhone! Out of the box connectivity around the world!
