Quick Charge 4 Will Give 5 Hours of Usage after 5 Minutes of Charge

Qualcomm new Snapdragon 835 chipset is said to be the next big release from the chipset manufacturer. The chipset which will offer big performance improvements is also said to feature the new Quick Charge 4 tech which will allow for super fast charging of your smartphones.

The Snapdragon 835 which may be announced as early as CES 2016 will feature this new tech and give a phone 5 hours of battery life after charging for just 5 minutes, or up to 50-percent of a battery’s capacity in just under 15 minutes. QuickCharge 4.0 is designed keeping recent battery issues and safety in mind. With cable quality detection, the technology can adapt the current as necessary, while three levels of voltage protection and four levels of temperature protection ensure devices won’t dangerously overheat and in turn explode.

Previous iterations of Quick Charge, from 1.0 up to 3.0 have not been USB-PD compliant. The new Quick Charge 4.0, however, fully compliant with USB Power Delivery (PD), meaning consistent power delivery using the latest USB Type-C cables and future usb cable standards.

Samsung is apparently helping Qualcomm manufacture these chipsets due to the high demand, and it is more than likely that the US variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature this new Snapdragon 835.

  • Google To Launch a Toilet Finder For India

Google To Launch a Toilet Finder For India

Google has partnered with the Indian Government to launch a toilet finder built into Maps in India. India has one of the worst toilet problems in the world. With over 70 % households lacking basic toilet facilities, this tool aims to help people with access to smartphones, which surprisingly is more than those with toilets.

Google and the Ministry of Urban Development in India have made this tool simple enough that a user can search in multiple Indian languages for words like “toilet,” “lavatory,” “swachhata” and “shulabh.”

This is also a crowd sourced platform which will populate the condition and availability of toilets as users use it more and more. It is expected to be rolled out in the coming months, however, no proper timeline exists.

Now if only Google could work on a currency filled ATM finder, India would be a better place.

  • OnePlus 3T To Launch Tomorrow, May Have 8GB RAM

OnePlus 3T To Launch Tomorrow, May Have 8GB RAM

There is already a lot of information out on the upcoming OnePlus 3. However, the only confirmed piece of news from OnePlus is that the phone will launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. The company is claiming that its new smartphone will have “More Precision” and “More Power”.

OnePlus is working on making the phone fully equipped, with a new 16 MP camera, a larger battery and possibly dual rear cameras. The 8GB RAM seems to be a bit of an overkill, as the OnePlus 3 already features 6 GB of RAM. Which is already more than many other flagships in the market.

New rumours surround the display resolution and technology, the company may upgrade the resolution to a Quad-HD but will resort to a more easily sourced IPS LCD. Other reports claim that the company will stick to AMOLED, even though they are facing supply issues, as also confirmed by Carl Pei (Co-founder OnePlus), calling it the way forward. But, supply restrictions may force the hand of the company and they may need to resort to means which will help it manufacture efficiently.

The OnePlus 3T will keep the design elements of the OnePlus 3 with a solid Unibody Aluminium shell and may feature Gorilla Glass 5 on the front. The phone will also feature a new version of the Oxygen OS built directly on Android 7.0 Nougat.

The OnePlus 3T is also expected to feature a larger storage with 128 and 256 GB storage options as a possibility.

    OnePlus 3T Coming November 15th

While the OnePlus 3 is already one of the best phones of 2016, there is confirmed news of a OnePlus 3 revision, possibly dubbed the OnePlus 3T to be launched on November 15th. Oneplus has tweeted out claiming that the Qualcomm 821 chipset is coming and the company will give more details on November 15 about the handset.

Rumours have however, pointed towards a 5.5-inch Full HD LCD display, a 16-megapixel camera, and Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. If the OnePlus 3T is running the Snapdragon 821 chip it will be clocked at 2.35GHz.

There were also reports earlier that OnePlus will drop the Optic AMOLED due to supply issues, however, the company later denied that rumour. The OnePlus 3T may be the company’s first phone with a dual camera setup and 128 GB of storage.

  • The iPhone of the Future Could Fold According to Apple’s Latest Patent

The iPhone of the Future Could Fold According to Apple’s Latest Patent

Apple has just been awarded a patent for anew device which the patent application defines as an iPhone. According to the patent  Apple is researching foldable iPhone designs starting from back in 2013. This patent was filed in August and awarded today shows a new design iPhone which will look identical to the current iPhone when folded, but will unfold into a larger display device.

The patent application uses the words “carbon nanotubes” to define the mechanism that will hold the bendy iPhone together.

Conductive carbon nanotube paths can form signal paths that are flexible and resistant to cracking. The carbon nanotube structures may be incorporated into signal cables such as flexible printed circuit cables, rigid printed circuit boards, printed circuits that include rigid portions with flexible tails (sometimes referred to as “rigid flex”), portions of display structures, portions of touch sensors such as capacitive touch sensor arrays for displays or track pads, camera structures, antenna structures, housing structures, internal device structures, electrical components, substrates, brackets, housing walls, other structures, or combinations of these structures.

The application also mentions that the structure may have a hinge or a bendable joint. The iPhone of the patent may never come into play or could simply be the next iPhone of 2017.

Samsung too has been showing off bendable screens for a while and did showcase a bendable screen last year that could potentially become a smartphone of the future. Samsung patents range from various devices to various display and bend technology types and can be seen here.

iPhone 8 May Have Wireless Charging And Full OLED Display

According to a new report Apple manufacturer Foxconn is already testing the iPhone 8’s wireless charging technology. Something which may be exclusive to the premium variant iPhones.  According to the report Apple may finally be working on the Long Range Wireless charging that was seen in Apple’s patent filing many years ago.

More news has suggested that the iPhone 8 will come in place of the iPhone 7s which would according to refresh cycles launch next year. However, in order to make a big impact for the redesign and 10 years of iPhone, the iPhone 8 moniker will be used.

Apple is said to be working on a new design of the iPhone 8 that will feature an all glass front removing the physical button and reducing the bezels significantly much like the Xiaomi MIX. However, Apple will continue to keep the earpiece and front facing camera in the top region and will put the fingerprint scanner behind the display.

Previous leaks have pointed to Apple bringing back an all glass design, which would be a single piece of glass folded from front to back, alternatively Apple has shown that they are able to make ceramic casing with the Apple Watch series 2 and is possible to make an iPhone with a ceramic back.

  • Lenovo Overtakes Micromax to Become No.2 Smartphone Manufacturer in the Country

Lenovo Overtakes Micromax to Become No.2 Smartphone Manufacturer in the Country

Lenovo has overthrown homegrown Micromax and become the number two smartphone manufacturer in the country just behind Samsung, who don’t seem to be having a good time either. Xiaomi has also climbed up to the fourth spot behind Micromax thanks to their new offline sales models.

While the Smartphone market in India has grown 25%  many hown-grown brands have suffered market share losses due to lack of innovation and high yield costs. Both Lenovo and Xiaomi have focused on offline this year and the results have shown. Micromax’s market share reduced to 9.8% in September from 14.1% last quarter. Intex market share also came down from 8.4% to 6.4%.. While Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo, and Vivo have gained market share with focus on the mid-ranged smartphone segment.

Samsung has also suffered huge losses not only in market share but also market goodwill dropping for a 26% to a 21% in one quarter. Although all companies have focused strongly on the festive season returns seem to be poor, with a lot of interest going towards launches from Apple, Google, Moto, Lenovo and Xiaomi. Lenovo also recently launched the Z2 plus which offers great specs for Price ratio.

India Is Not Pre-Ordering the Pixel Like Expected

The Google Pixel is a successor to the successful Nexus line of phones which started to dwindle in popularity towards the end of their cycle. Google’s new Pixel and Pixel XL are what iPhone and iPhone Plus are to Apple, proprietary phones, designed to work perfectly well with their software. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL also break the traditional price barrier for Nexus devices pricing them upwards of US$ 649 and in India starting at a Rs. 57000 slightly short of the iPhone 7 price tag. pixel-colors However, the Google Pixel has failed to excite the Indian consumers like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus did, according to our source at Flipkart. The company has received little pre-orders and are falling short of expectations the sales teams had. Google has also started pushing advertisements  in India for the Pixel in order to excite potential customers. However general expectations of price have been off from he users and the pricing seems high despite the specifications on the Pixel handsets. The most expensive Pixel Xl with 128 GB storage is expected to sell the least and is priced at Rs. 76000.

Presently the Very Silver and Quite Black colours of the phone are on sale and the Really Blue colour is not expected in India. Are you waiting to buy the Pixel or the Pixel XL or would you rather buy something else?

  • Samsung Note 7 Fiasco Will Cost Samsung US $ 5.3 Billion And 40 % of It’s Customers

Samsung Note 7 Fiasco Will Cost Samsung US $ 5.3 Billion And 40 % of It’s Customers

The state of affairs are poor for Samsung Mobile, as the company deals with its biggest disaster yet. The Note 7 has truly turned out to be a problem for the brand, an expensive problem at that.

The reported recall and disposal of the Note 7, will cost the parent company a whopping $5.3 Billion. However Samsung has assured its investors that it plans to recover the losses in less than three quarters after the Note 7 process is complete.

    Note 7 hands on 5

Samsung claims it will expand sales of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and will not be releasing updated versions of those devices. Samsung has recalled 1.9 million Note 7 units in the US , 200,000 phones in China and about half a million phones in South Korea. This after a total 96 reports of the batteries of the Samsung Note 7 exploding emerged.

Surprisingly most reports of the Explosive Note 7 handsets has come from the US, also the largest market where the Note 7 was on sale. However, Samsung claims that the financial loss reports are incorrect and issued the following statement. :

Samsung India is appalled by the incorrect reporting of company’s financials based on reports by various research agencies.

The reports covered in some news articles quote different revenue loss estimates for Samsung India. These research reports are not based on empirical facts. Such projections by any research agency or analyst, therefore, is incorrect.

Samsung has not sold Galaxy Note7 in India. However, we can confirm that contrary to these reports, we are headed for record sales of mobile phones this year. The festive season has started for Samsung on a high and we have strong support and trust of our customers.

However, according to the Branding Brand survey, over 40% of current Samsung consumers say they won’t buy another phone from the brand. Out of which:

    • 8% will buy a Google Pixel
    • 30% will switch to iPhone
    • 62% will go with another Android phone

    What would you do?

  • Samsung Giving US $ 100 Credit To People Who Return Their Note 7

Samsung Giving US $ 100 Credit To People Who Return Their Note 7

The Note 7 is Dead and with it Samsung has essentially lost market share, customer loyalty and a whole lot of goodwill for the fiasco, not to mention billions of dollars of losses and enormous environmental trash. But, in a last ditch effort to save face with Samsung owners atleast in the US, Samsung is offering US $ 100 in Samsung Credit (for future purchases) to those who exchange the Galaxy Note 7 with another Samsung device.

Samsung will still give you just $25 if you decide to rather switch to Apple, HTC or any other brand. The best option might be to avoid the exchange and get a full refund where available.

The Note 7 is not the only device affected with the battery issues, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are also reportedly prone to battery explosions and the Galaxy S7 Active limited to certain regions also has Battery explosion issues.

Samsung has had a horrible time getting control of the issue, and it still does not have a system in place for all the unofficial phones that pose a life risk in countries where the Note 7 has not been officially launched but available via the grey markets.
