Dell Launches XPS 13 Ultrabook in India

Dell has Launched the new Ultra slim Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook in India. With that Dell becomes the latest to follow in on the ultra book trend in India. Made from composite aluminum and carbon fibre, the XPS 13 is slim at just 6mm at its thinnest point and has a 13.3-inch display with a size of a 11-inch netbook.

Varying in price range from Rs.79,900 to Rs.99,900 the ultrabooks are still expensive. For Specs a Core i5 or Core i7 ULV processors, 4GB of DDR3 RAM comes as standard and along with a 128GB SSD. Of course you have he optional 256 SSD Upgrade. Here are the surprise options – a backlit keyboard and one USB 3.0 plus one USB 2.0.

Hp Launches new Ivy Bridge based g4, dv4, dv6 and dv7 Pavilion Laptops(video)

HP has announced four new Pavilion laptops for the new Ivy Bridge platform the dv4-5000, dv6-7000, dv7-6000 and g4-2000 (the G4 is still on Sandy Bridge).

The dv4 and dv6 have a 2.3GHz i7-3610QM processor with GeForce GT630M graphics impressive Beats Audio and 14-inch or 15.6-inch (1366 x 768) displays respectively.

The dv7 model up the ante with a 2.6GHZ i7-3720QM chip, GeForce GT 650M graphics and 17.3-inches of 1920 x 1080 screen. The g4 will stick to options of i3-2350M and i5-2450M Sandy Bridge, along with a 14inch screen.

Hands on with Intel’s Medfield – Penwell Android 4.0 ICS Tablet codename Red Ridge

We went hands on with the Intel Medfield reference tablet for OEM manufacturers, at the Intel Retail and innovation tour 2012, developed by Intel to give manufacturers an idea of the performance of the Intel SOC.

Initial impressions of the Tablet were quite impressive, it was very lightweight and sleek, the tablet has a very responsive touchscreen and the usual Android lag was un-noticeable. The tab is8.5 mm thin (0.33-inch), weighs under 1.5 pounds (less than 680 grams) and packs a 28Whr battery for upto 9 hours on the go usage and a heavy 30 day battery standby claim. Further specs including processor speed and GPU were not disclosed.

The Tablet also has inbuilt NFC and HDMI Out.

Sony Releases Alpha A57 translucent mirror camera with a 12fps snapper (PR)

Sony has upgraded their Alpha A55 translucent mirror camera, to the new Alpa A57 translucent mirror camera. The new DSLR has a higher ISO to 16000 and a faster shooting capability of 12fps compared to the 10fps on the A55. Other features include a 15-point autofocus system, including enhanced object-tracking and quick AF in Full HD.

The A57 is equipped with the same 16-megapixel APS HD CMOS sensor from the past and also features a 1920 x 1080 video capability at 60p, 60i and 24p/25p. Bionz imaging engine along with a bunch of new added effects and image tweaks are also on board the new chipset. The LCD is a swivel down type with a 921,600-dot resolution.

Price is kept at $699 (INR 35,000 approx) for Body only and $799 kit (INR 40,000) with an 18-55mm lens.

The innovative Translucent Mirror design directs incoming light to the CMOS image sensor and the AF sensor at the same time, allowing full-time continuous AF during both still and video shooting. Users can also frame, focus and preview shots in real-time on the high-resolution Tru-Finder™ electronic viewfinder, which offers a wide viewing angle and 100% field of view. A natural successor to Sony’s acclaimed ?55 camera, the ?57 is positioned for a wide audience of DSLR users. It can shoot still images at up to 12 frames per second, capture full HD video at 60p, 60i or 24p frame rates and has a variety of creative modes including Auto Portrait Framing, a world’s first technology

“Today’s DSLR consumer is looking for a higher level of control and flexibility in their camera,” said Mike Kahn, director of the Alpha camera business group for Sony Electronics. “With the introduction of the new ?57, we’re bringing blazing fast response rates, enhanced artistic capabilities and other advanced features to the mainstream DSLR marketplace, offering professional-grade performance at affordable prices.”

With the ?57 camera, shooting speeds of up to 12 frames per second are achieved in new Tele-zoom Continuous Advance Priority AE mode, maintaining continuous auto focus and auto exposure with fixed aperture. Magnifying the central portion of the sensor’s image by 1.4x, it’s perfect for capturing split-second action close-ups with a burst of sharply focused images, even when the subject is moving. In this shooting mode, aperture is fixed at either f/3.5 or the maximum aperture of lens in use (whichever is smaller) and image size of photos is about 8.4 megapixels.

Additionally, the ?57 camera lets people create powerfully expressive Full HD movies. To get closer to the subject, 2x Clear Image Zoom digital zoom technology doubles the effective magnification of your lens and is a highly practical alternative to travelling with a bigger, bulkier telephoto lens. Nokia Lumia will come to China on March 28th

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has confirmed that the company will bring its pride Windows Phone Devices AKA “Lumia” Series to the Chinese waters later this month. No specifics on the models available , but looks like China will get Lumia 900 Global, 800 and 710 at first followed by the 610 later this year. Both China Telecom and China Unicom are said to be partners with Nokia for the upcoming launch.

Apple has updated the processor chipset in the new gen iPad to the A5X processor and quad-core graphics chip. Apple even claims its newest sliver of silicon can deliver four times the performance of a Tegra 3 chipset.

Retina Display

Apple has updated the iPad Display to a brand new Retina display, a 9.7-inch screen with 3.1 million pixels in a 2048 x 1536px setup delivering 264ppi.

LTE

The new iPad is has 21Mbps HSPA+ along with LTE radio capable of 73Mbps downrate.

Siri

Well not full Siri, but Siri Dictation comes to the new iPad.

Apple Claims a 10 hour battery with the new iPad aswell, 9 hours with LTE usage.

5 MP camera

The new iPad also has a 5 MP Camera at the back with backside-illuminated sensor, five-element autofocus lens with IR filter and captures video at 1080p with image stabilization. The ISP (Image Signal Processor) has been built right into the new A5X chip for better performance.

Price

The price remains same at $499 for the 16GB WiFi model and scaling up to $829 for the 64GB version with 4G. Expect a difference of atleast least 100$ when it finally comes to India.

The new iPad will go on sale March 16th 2012.

Nokia Lumia 800 Software update will triple battery life

A leaked build of upcoming software revision 1600.2487.8107.12070 should be a welcome to those who made the dive to Nokia Lumia 800. According to reports from WPCentral , who force updated their devices to the currently unreleased version of the software update, the battery life on the Lumia 800 seems to have nearly tripled after the update. In more technical terms the idle battery discharge has been reduced to a mere 70mA vs the earlier >150mA.

How To : Upgrade Micromax A85 to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, Step by Step ( iGyaan Version)
Happy March 2012 people, since we promised a stable workable rom for the A85/ cherry Magnum / K Touch k700 with Android 2.3 , we are here to deliver in time.

Before we begin with the update process there are a few things we would like to clear out few important things with you people.

Important Notes
1. We do not take guarantee that this rom will work perfectly and could crash / damage / brick your device. So proceed with your own caution.
2. This ROM has been cooked by iGyaan but is majorly based on the official Cherry Magnum 2x update (you will see once you flash your phone)
3. We have added bug fixes and tweaks from the Micromax Android 2.2 rom and K-touch K700 Rom to this upgrade.
4. Unfortunately during the update you will loose all data/ apps and most importantly gesture features from the Micromax 2.2 stock rom. So Please Backup Accordingly.
Here are our finding with this rom.

(Based on 3 test units)
1. Its very stable = Little or no crashes.
2. Audio quality is excellent and networks are solid.
3. Battery performance seemed better / depends on usage.
4. Very fast and snappy.
Okay now that you are aware of the above lets begin with the process.

Tutorial

What you need
- Micromax A85/ Cherry Magnum 2x / KTouch K700 (either will do).
- Windows PC.
- RAR expander ( winRAR etc.).
- USB-MicroUSb Data Cable.

- Finally , A strong heart and lots of patience.
Step One
- Make sure you downloaded the iGyaan Update Bundle : if not then [button link=”https://rapidshare.com/files/1042248031/igyaan_a85_bundle.rar”]Download Here[/button]
- Extract the RAR on your desktop.
Step Two
- Extract vcredist_x86.rar and install the software within ( its Visual C++ redistributable)
Step Three
- Power off your A85/ Cherry Magnum 2x / KTouch K700
- Once OFF : Hold the Power + Volume Up button till you see a Green Display
- Let go immediately after you see the green screen on the device
Step Four
- Plug in the USB cable into the PC and attach it to the A85/ Cherry Magnum 2x / KTouch K700
- Windows will try and install the drivers but will not be able to.
- Manually select the drivers ( included in the igyaan bundle in a folder called usbpcdriver)
- Once the drivers are successfully installed Reboot you pc
Step Five
- Once rebooted Navigate to the iGyaan bundle and then folder NvMultiDown
- Now run the NvMultiDOwn.exe
Step Six
- Once the program is running On the right side select the “iGyaan 2.3.4” update folder
- Uncheck the 2 boxes below the file location. (if they are checked.)
- Remove the battery and usb cable from you A85/ Cherry Magnum 2x / KTouch K700
- Repeat Step 3 from above and connect the Device to the USB cable
- Once you connect the device will show up in the NvMultiDown program
- Your device will start to update.
Step Seven
- Once Update finishes your device will boot with Android 2.3.4
- Enjoy!

Micromax Android 2.2 Stock Rom

Incase you are facing problems with the 2.3 build that you cannot find a fix for, we have instructions to revert to the original rom. in our update bundle we have also included the stock rom.

The stock Rom also includes the gestures app and all stock applications , incase you have warranty issues you can revert to the stock ROM aswell.

Tutorial to revert to Stock 2.2

Follow Step 1 – Step 5 Above

Step Six
- Once the program is running On the right side select the “Stock mmx 2.2” folder
- Uncheck the 2 boxes below the file location
- Remove the battery and usb cable from you A85/ Cherry Magnum 2x / KTouch K700
- Repeat Step 3 from above and connect the Device to the USB cable
- Your device will start to downgrade to 2.2
Step Seven
- Once Update finishes your device will boot with Stock Micromax Rom.

Micromax Tablet plans leak – 7inch capactiive
Micromax has started developing a nice and portable tablet that could be the envy of other tablet manufacturers in India. From the information available the tablet is a 7 inch monster with a nice resolution display and a set of specs to rival global manufacturers.

Specs include :
- 1 GHz Dual Core CPU
- 1 GB of Ram
- Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1
- Wifi only
- Mini USB port
- HDMI Out
- 3D Vision capabilities
Apart from the above information there is news that the tablet will be launched before the 15th of March and will be manufactured in India. Sources close to iGyaan tell us that the tablet will come with add ons including optional docks and cases, smart pens and accessories that can be bought separately but will be available to the device exclusively.

Our source was able to tell us that the tablet will be priced at about Indian Rupees 14,000 and will come bundled with a a mini USB to USB cable and a 3G dongle capable of making calls and accessing the internet to make the device access data on the go. No information is known of the storage capacity but the device will also have an expansion slot of some sort.
