Samsung Teases Galaxy A8s With A Camera Cut-Out And No Notch

Samsung has just taken the next step towards a truly edge-to-edge display, or so it seems. In its recent event, Samsung teased the Galaxy A8s. This device is as close as it gets to an all-screen display. The teaser by Samsung shows a clear display, free of any obstructions. But a well known Samsung leakster on Twitter said that the device will have a tiny camera cut-out on the screen.

    Galaxy A8s

Samsung is probably the only smartphone manufacturer to not jump on to the notch bandwagon. But this hasn’t stopped the company from ensuring that they work towards an all-screen display. Talking about the Galaxy A8s, which is the cause for all this excitement, some reports also suggest that it will for sure have a camera cut-out. The camera cut-out might even be disabled while viewing videos or playing games, ensuring that it does not obstruct the display. The placement for the cut-out is still not known. Some sources are saying that it will be on the sides and not the centre to avoid direct obstruction. A recent tweet, which is no longer available, showcased the possible placement options that Samsung has for the device.

Whether the company has cracked the code to making an all-screen display or whether we’ll see a camera cut-out is not clear at this point of time. They have not revealed anything more about the device which might see its launch in the early parts of 2019. A truly bezel-less and notch-less display is also possible as Samsung has recently patented a technology to have an in-display front camera. With this, the front camera will be present within the display, eliminating the need for a notch or a cut-out to house it. This technology is probably the only way to achieve a 100% screen-to-body ratio.

    Samsung’s Innovation Spree

It is not surprising that Samsung is stepping up its innovation game. The company can no longer hold on to new technology or save it just for its flagship smartphones. With increasing competition threatening it in almost every smartphone market, the company needs to go out with all guns blazing. Other reports about the company developing a technology which will turn the entire screen into a fingerprint sensor has also appeared, showing that there is no slowing down for Samsung as of now.

Could the camera cut-out be the new trend for smartphone manufacturers or is it just as inconvenient as the notch? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

  • OnePlus 6T To Have MicroSD Card Support

OnePlus 6T To Have MicroSD Card Support

The upcoming OnePlus 6T is one of the most awaited smartphones set to launch this month. The device has a lot of improvements over its predecessor, and some brand new features such as the in-display fingerprint sensor and water drop notch. Leaks had told us all about these features and even the alleged pricing of the device. Just when we thought there was nothing more to know, a German retailer listed the OnePlus 6T on their website with its details and price. But the surprising detail in the listing is the microSD card support.

    More Storage?

While you may think that this is not such a big deal, keep in mind that OnePlus has not provided SD card support prior to this. If this listing is true, it means that OnePlus users will finally be able to utilise their devices further by storing more data on them. Expandable storage is a boon for devices with limited storage. The base model on the OnePlus 6 has 64 GB of inbuilt storage which is quite restrictive for users. However, the OnePlus 6T might have a base model with 128 GB of internal storage which should be more than enough for average users. The addition of microSD card support to the device will take this a step further and users will now be able to carry all their data and apps with them without the fear of running out of space.

The OnePlus 6T has a 6.41 inch Super AMOLED display with a water drop notch. The device will run on the Snapdragon 845 SoC and has 6 GB and 8 GB RAM variants, according to reports. It packs a bigger 3,700 mAh battery, compared to its predecessor. The device will run Android 9 Pie and the ‘best version of Oxygen OS’, according to the company. The OnePlus 6T will launch on 29 October.

  • Samsung’s New Patent To Make The Entire Screen A Fingerprint Reader

Samsung’s New Patent To Make The Entire Screen A Fingerprint Reader

With great leaps in smartphone technology, users are getting safer and more convenient ways to unlock their smartphones with each passing year. The first major breakthrough after basic security features such as pins and patterns was the inclusion of biometric security in smartphones. Slowly, that evolved, became faster and more secure. It is now present under the display, eliminating the need for a physical sensor. However, the latest patent by Samsung is now taking this a step further. Samsung is planning to turn the entire screen into a fingerprint reader.

    The Future Of Displays

Currently, in-display fingerprint readers only cover a certain area of the screen and are not very accessible. The positioning of the fingerprint sensor is of the utmost importance. Just having it limited to a certain area on the screen is not ideal for any user. The latest patent from Samsung might solve this issue. The patent describes a way to make the entire display into a fingerprint scanner. This means that no matter where the user will place their hand, the device will be able to read the fingerprint and unlock.

The patent also describes that the device having this feature will have two processors. This consists of a main processor and a second, low power processor. The low power processor functions even when the display is not on. At the same time, the main processor is in sleep mode to save power. This secondary processor will then detect any touch and thus activate the biometric sensor. The smartphone will then conduct three scans for which it needs between 60 to 90 milliseconds. The processor needs 200 to 300 milliseconds to compute all this.

It is reported that the technology is being made for use on a folding display and might be seen on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy F device. However, some sources also say that the technology in the patent will not be seen anytime soon and that we will have to wait a few more years for it to be available. But, immense competition from Chinese manufacturers might just drive Samsung to crack the whip and bring out this innovation faster.

  • Honor Magic 2 Official Images Surface

Honor Magic 2 Official Images Surface

The Honor Magic 2 has been in quite a few leaks recently, as is the case with any smartphone these days. These leaks have given us a rough look at what the device looks like. Now, a few more images have surfaced, which are official images by the company itself. These images give us the first proper look at the device and some of its features.

    Design

The images show the Honor Magic 2, along with its box. They show two new colours, a gradient blue and a gradient pink. The design language and use of colours is very familiar as it has been seen on a few Honor devices before. The images also show us the box, which is black in colour with Gold text on it. We do not know if these are retail boxes or are just being used for the purpose of this photograph.

Moving on to the most interesting aspect, the device itself. The back of the device shows off a triple camera setup which is quite unique. Although the setup is vertically aligned, Honor has coupled two sensors with the LED flash. A bigger sensor, is housed slightly away from the other sensors and the flash. This sensor appears to be bigger and might be the primary sensor of the camera setup. The design is unique, and it is refreshing to see something which is different from the rest.

    Features

On the front, we can clearly see the bezel-less display with close to a 100% screen-to-body ratio. The sliding mechanism shows two front facing cameras and a sensor for the 3D Face Unlock technology which Honor would be using for this device. Due to the placement of the front facing cameras and the sensors in the slider, the Honor Magic 2 can achieve its almost bezel-less display. None of the images show a physical fingerprint scanner. This can mean either of two things. The Honor Magic 2 might be using an in-display fingerprint scanner  or it might have not included a fingerprint scanner and will be totally dependant on the 3D Face Unlock technology for security.

Previous leaks suggest that the device has a 6.4 inch FHD+ display and is running on the Kirin 980 chipset. It has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage along with a 3,400 mAH battery. The battery is supported by Huawei’s 40W  fast charging technology. The device is said to run EMUI 9 based on Android 9 out of the box.

The launch of the device is set for 31 October where all the rumours and speculations about the device will be put to rest.

  • Google Pixel 3 Users Report Multiple Issues

Google Pixel 3 Users Report Multiple Issues

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices are the latest flagship smartphones by the tech giant. Google launched the devices a few weeks back. They carry on the legacy of Pixel devices with great camera performance and the best stock Android experience. However, it is not all smooth sailing for the Pixel devices as a lot of users are now complaining about various issues in the phone.

    Camera Problems

One of the most common complaints by users is that their Pixel 3 device is not saving they pictures they take. A lot of users on Reddit, are claiming so. With the Pixel series being well known for its excellent camera performance, this feature puts a blot on that image. But, a few users have said that this is due to the Doze Battery feature. Disabling this feature has fixed the problem for some users.

Continuing with issues related to the camera, users have also reported poor audio quality while recording video. Users complain that the audio seems to be of a low quality and has poor output. However, this does seem pretty unlikely. Google laid a lot of emphasis on the fact that they have made several enhancements in the audio recording capability of the Pixel 3. They aim to reduce background noise while enhancing dialogue or what is being spoken.

    Performance Issues

Issues have appeared in terms of performance as well as a lot of users are complaining about Memory Management in the Pixel 3. Apparently, the device is killing off apps which are running in the background to free up RAM. This includes music and podcasts apps which are closing without any warning. This could be due to the fact that the Pixel 3 has only 4 GB of RAM which isn’t really something seen in flagship devices in 2018. Additionally, users also complain about the device failing to automatically connect to Wi-Fi networks even when they are in range. Users have also complained about speed drop issues in the Wi-Fi network.

As of now, there has been no word from Google about these issues though quite a number of people are talking about it. We hope Google can solve the issues via an OTA update. Not counting these issues, the Pixel 3 is arguably the best camera smartphone out there with a smooth user experience.

  • Apple Demands Bloomberg To Take Down Chinese Chip Hacking Report

Apple Demands Bloomberg To Take Down Chinese Chip Hacking Report

A few weeks back, Blooomberg had reported that Chinese spies had compromised more than 30 US companies. This was apparently done by planting malicious chips into their servers while they were being manufactured in China. Through this chip, hackers where then able to create a backdoor into any networks running on the said server. The list of companies also includes tech giant Apple which has denied all the claims made by the report. Furthermore, Apple CEO Tim Cook had now asked Bloomberg to take down the report.

The incident took place back in 2015, and according to the report, Apple had discovered the said ‘breach’. The report also states that Apple had cut ties with the vendor, Supermicro and reported the incident to the FBI. While the tech giant not only denies the report, it also made a detailed company statement signed by the Vice President of Information Security, refuting the claims of such an incident. However, Bloomberg did not back down after this. They proceeded to publish a follow up story which further backed up the original report.

    Apple’s Rebuttal

    Tim Cook Apple

In an interview with a news agency, Tim Cook said that he was personally involved in the response to the story by the company. The CEO said that they searched through Emails, data centre records, financial records and shipment records and found nothing. He further said ,”This did not happen. There’s no truth to this”.  Bloomberg on the other hand, said that this the report is the result of more than a year of research and reporting which involves more than a 100 interviews. They claim sources such as government officials and insiders at companies who confirmed the attack. They further said “We stand by our story and are confident in our reporting and sources.”

This is the first time Apple has asked a company to take down a report for carrying false information. Earlier reports which showed the company in a poor light and were made from fragmented tales did not bother them so much. With both sides not willing to back down from their respective claims and defending their sides, it is difficult to say as to who is actually presenting the truth.

  • Samsung Working On An In-Display Front Facing Camera

Samsung Working On An In-Display Front Facing Camera

Samsung is reportedly working on an in-display front facing camera. If the reports are true, then we are going to witness one of the biggest jumps in smartphone technology. An in-display front-facing camera eliminates the need for a bezel or a notch to house the camera sensor. This could result in a truly bezel-less display without the hassles of a ‘sliding’ or ‘pop-up’ camera.

Samsung displayed the plan to do so at the 2018 Samsung OLED forum. The company announced that they will be working on other OLED technologies as well. This includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, a touch-sensitive technology and a screen sound technology. What these would do is not exactly clear as of now. But the in-display camera is the most exciting and arguably the most important out of the lot.

    A New Trendsetter?

Samsung has kept away from the ‘notch’ trend all this while. While every other smartphone manufacturer, including Google has jumped on to the bandwagon, Samsung has not. Recently, Samsung was teasing Google for the huge notch on its Pixel 3 XL device. It has also been mocking Apple ever since the launch of the iPhone X. With such confidence in their design and the need to bring something new, which will define the industry standard for design, Samsung might be looking to integrate this technology in the upcoming Galaxy S10.

However, reports also claim that this technology is in its infancy and is just being tested on a handful of prototype phones. With the launch of the Galaxy S10 not far away, this could mean that we will not see this technology in the device. However, we can expect many surprises from the company in terms of the Galaxy S10. The S10 is said to feature a bigger screen, a bigger battery and might even have a 5G variant, along with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

  • OnePlus 6T Launch Date Changed

    OnePlus 6T Launch Date Changed

The much awaited launch of the OnePlus 6T has been changed, owing to the fact that Apple has announced its own event on the same day. The announcement by Apple was made yesterday while OnePlus had done the same, earlier this month. The clash is made even worse by the fact that both the launches were supposed to be held on the same day, in New York City. However, the news isn’t all that bad for OnePlus fans as the OnePlus 6T will now be launching a day prior, on 29 October.

OnePlus announced this through a post on the OnePlus forum. The smartphone manufacturer revealed that after Apple’s announcement, they had to make a tough decision as they knew Apple’s event would ‘overshadow’ the launch of their ‘best product to date’. OnePlus has also announced that they will cover any costs that you will incur in order to change your plans. They already have a team getting in touch with all those who have purchased a ticket for the event and will make sure you don’t end up paying extra for moving your flight or hotel reservation. OnePlus is also offering a full refund on the ticket for the event for those who will not be able to make it.

    OnePlus 6T Launch In India

This does not affect the Indian launch which will take place on October 30. Since there are no change in plans for the Indian launch, the clause for refunds and covering extra costs will only be applicable to those attending the launch in New York. This also means that while the device is going to launch on October 29, fans in India will only be able to get a hands-on experience the next day.

The company claims that the OnePlus 6T is the most advanced and feature packed smartphone they have made till-date. The device has an in-display fingerprint scanner, a bigger battery, is faster and has a better camera with a dedicated night mode. Reports suggest the device to be running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 8 GB of RAM and upto 256 GB of storage.

Vertu Launches Aster P Luxury Smartphone At $4,200

Vertu, the well known manufacturer of handmade luxury phones is back with its latest device, the Aster P. The Vertu Aster P is an Android smartphone with a Snapdragon 660 chipset, 12 MP camera, 3,200 mAh battery and more. But, what really sets Vertu apart is the luxury build of the device. The Aster P has a titanium alloy frame, with a Sapphire Glass screen and back panels made from real leather. To add to all the glitz is the hefty starting price of $ 4,200 which translates to approximately Rs 308,637.

The device was launched in an event held in China after Vertu had sent out an invite earlier this week. This is Vertu’s first smartphone after a while as the company had some turbulent years after Nokia sold it. The ownership changed hands numerous times and might finally be making a comeback for good. Each Vertu device is handmade in Britain by specific craftsmen who resonate with the design ideologies and vision of the company.

    Specifications

The Aster P has a 5 inch AMOLED, FHD display. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and has 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage. Under the hood, it packs a 3,200 mAh battery and has a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The device has a 12 MP rear camera and a 20 MP front facing camera. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and has NFC support as well. While these specifications are surely not right for such a steep price, the Vertu Aster P shines in terms of other features.

As mentioned before, the device is handcrafted and is made form materials such as leather and Sapphire Glass. This is however, for the cheapest variant. The device also has a ‘Gold’ variant which sells at a price of $ 14,000. This specific model is made from genuine Titanium jewellery with Gold accents and Crocodile Skin lining. On the front, the screen is lined with 133 carat Sapphire Glass.

  • Honor 8X Vs Realme 2 Pro Vs Moto One Power : Specs Comparison

Honor 8X Vs Realme 2 Pro Vs Moto One Power : Specs Comparison

With the launch of the Honor 8X, competition in the crowded mid-range segment has shot up. With smartphones such as the Realme 2 Pro and the Moto One Power present in the same price range, it can be confusing as to which of the three is better. We compare the features to help you decide what might be a better pick for you

    Design & Build Quality

The Realme 2 Pro and the Honor 8X are the most stylish out of the lot, but the Moto One Power is appealing for those who are looking for a more subtle design. The Honor 8X is arguably the best looking device out of the three with a gradient finish. The Moto One Power does not have a glass back like the other two, but it sports a clean matte finish. The Moto One Power has a metal unibody design with a rigid frame. In our review we extensively tried to bend the phone but it survived. The Moto One Power is a tad bit heavier than the other two owing to its mammoth battery.

    Buy the Honor 8X

    Display

The three phones are similar in dimensions with subtle differences due to their build types. The Honor 8X has the biggest display out of the three with a 6.5 inch FHD screen. The Realme 2 Pro is the second biggest with a 6.3 inch display and the Moto One Power has a 6.2 inch display.  While the Realme 2 Pro and the Honor 8X share the same 2340 x 1080 px display resolution, the Moto One Power lags behind with a 2246 x 1080 px resolution . The Realme 2 Pro has a waterdrop notch while the other two sport a bigger, conventional notch. The displays on all three devices have good viewing angles.

    Buy the Realme 2 Pro

    Performance

The Realme 2 Pro runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset which is better than the Moto One Power’s Snapdragon 636. While pitting it against the Honor 8X’s Kirin 710, it had lower scores on benchmark apps. We tested the benchmark scores of the on Antutu and had the devices plugged in to a charger while doing so. This was done because the Realme 2 Pro’s processor is clocked down by the company to optimise battery life. We tested the 4 GB RAM variants of the Moto One Power and the Honor 8X and the 8 GB RAM variant of the Realme 2 Pro. The Realme 2 Pro is also the only one out of the three devices to offer an 8 GB RAM variant.

The Honor 8X leads in terms of storage as the device has 64 GB and 128 GB variants, with a memory expandability of upto 400 GB. The Realme 2 Pro also has 64 GB and 128 GB variants but the Moto One Power only has a 64 GB variant.

Checking out what’s under the hood, the Moto One Power dwarfs the other two with its 5,000 mAh battery. The device also has fast charging support. With these two features, battery backup will never be an issue for Moto One Power users.

    Buy the Moto One Power

    Camera

The Moto One Power has a 16 MP + 5 MP primary camera and can shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. The Realme 2 Pro has a 16 MP + 2 MP primary camera and the Honor 8X only shoots 1080p video. However, both the Realme 2 Pro and the Honor 8X have a 16 MP front-facing camera opposed to the 12 MP front-facing camera on the Moto One Power.

    Additional Features

The Moto One Power runs on the Android One Program, which means it has a clean, stock Android experience and will receive timely updates. The other two devices have their custom UIs based on Android which are favoured by some users. The Realme 2 Pro and the Honor 8X also have a Face Unlock feature. All the three devices have a fingerprint reader for security.

OnePlus 6T Price And Storage Variants Leaked

The upcoming flagship from OnePlus, the OnePlus 6T will be launching at the end of this month. The device had already caused a stir in the smartphone market when some of its key specifications such as the in-display fingerprint sensor and improved speed were made public. Latest leaks reveal the storage variants of the OnePlus 6T along with their respective prices.

    Pre-order the OnePlus 6T Here

The leak details three variants; a 6 GB / 128 GB, an 8 GB / 128 GB and an 8 GB / 256 GB variant of the upcoming device. According to the leak, these devices will cost Rs 37,999 , Rs 40,999 and Rs 44,999 respectively. If the leaks are true, the OnePlus 6T will be the costliest OnePlus device. However, something worth mentioning is that according to the leak, even the base model has 128 GB of internal storage. This is unlike the OnePlus 6 which had only 64 GB of internal storage in its base model.

The company had earlier hinted at the fact that the OnePlus 6T will be more expensive than its predecessor. However, the company also mentions that the numerous innovations present in the device will surely make it worth the price. The OnePlus 6T has an optical in-display fingerprint sensor and not an ultrasonic in-display sensor. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is more secure and efficient than its cheaper, optical counterpart. OnePlus, however, says that they have ensured this is the best in terms of both technology and security. Adding that they have worked really hard to make sure it meets ‘OnePlus standards’.

    What’s More

The OnePlus 6T is also expected to be faster than its predecessor and is said to have a water drop notch in its display. But, a small water drop notch means that there will only be enough space for a front-facing camera and not for the required sensors needed to securely unlock the phone using your face. This means that OnePlus will continue to use just the camera for Face Unlock, which is not very secure and won’t work in low-light.

Other expected features include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, a 3,700 mAh battery and Android 9 Pie out of the box. The device might feature wireless charging as well. Another change we will see in the OnePlus 6T is the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The company has provided a solution for the issue by launching a pair of Type-C Bullets which will be compatible with the device. OnePlus is also providing the Type-C Bullets for free, bundled with the device for those who pre-order the smartphone.

Huawei Launches The Huawei Mate 20, 20 X and 20 Pro

Huawei has launched its new flagship smartphones the Mate 20, Mate 20 X and Mate 20 Pro. The new devices replace the previous Mate series devices and offer improved specs and optics. The phones are built around Huawei’s new 7 nm chipset the Kirin 980 and offer varied specifications, along with varying price brackets.

    Huawei Mate 20

The lowest variant the Mate 20 is also the cheapest in price. The phone has a 6.53 inch display with a 2244 x 1080 px resolution and 381 ppi pixel density. The display has an 18:7:9 aspect ratio and features a water-drop notch on the top to house the front camera.

The Huawei Mate 20 has a rear mounted physical fingerprint reader and an IP 53 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone features a glass front and back design mounted on an aluminium frame. At the back of the phone are triple cameras with Leica lenses which were earlier teased by the company and placed inside a square camera mount. The primary camera is a 16 MP sensor with a wide-angle lens and an f/1.8 aperture. This is paired with an additional 12 MP ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. Finally an 8 MP telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens equipped camera completes the layout. This new camera setup allows Huawei to access a wide range of focus lengths from 16 mm to 270 mm.

The front houses a 24 MP f/2.0 sensor inside the water drop notch, allowing for larger screen real estate than the Pro. The Mate 20 has either 4 GB or 6GB of RAM and is paired with 128 GB of storage, the phone also offers expandability via the NM cards which are unique to Huawei phones for now.

The phone has a 4000 mAh battery and will be available in four colours ; Midnight Blue, Black, Emerald Green and including the popular twilight colour option

    Huawei Mate 20 X

The Huawei  Mate 20 X is the largest of the three with a 7,2 inch display and a 2244 x 1080 px resolution. The phone also runs on the Kirin 980 platform, but is designed to impress the phablet market which now primarily is based around the Samsung Galaxy Note series.  The Mate 20 X has HUAWEI Supercool which features a liquid multi-dimensional cooling system with a Vapour Chamber and a Graphene Film.

The Mate 20 X has support for the HUAWEI M-Pen, which can be used to activate the Memo directly from a locked screen. The screen has a 4096 high level pressure sensitivity, which according to the company makes using the Pen, lifelike.

While larger the Mate 20 X has an IP 53 rating for dust and water resistance. This is the only smartphone in the line-up to offer a dedicated 3.5 mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back under the square triple camera layout much like the Mate 20.  The camera layout is equipped with a Leica 40 MP Wide Angle Lens, f/1.8 aperture camera paired with a Leica 20 MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens, f/2.2 aperture based module. The 8 MP Telephoto sensor is the third sensor and offers a 3X zoom along with an f/2.4 aperture equipped Leica lens. The Mate 20 x has laser focus, phase focus and contrast focus along with Huawei AI Image Stabilisation.

The phone will be available in only one variant with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of Storage, and will be expandable via a NM card to upto 256 GB. The battery is a massive 5000 mAh unit which supports Huawei’s fast charge capabilities. The Mate 20 X will only be available in two colours Phantom Silver and Midnight Blue.

    Huawei Mate 20 Pro

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro as the name suggests offers better specs and is also the phone that will be sold globally and remains the true flagship launched by the company.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a 6.39 inch curved OLED display with a  3120 x 1440 px resolution and 538 ppi pixel density. The phone has a full sized notch display with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Just like the Mate 20 the phone is based on the new 7 nm Kirin 980 chipset. This has dual neural processing units which help it compute solutions of task based questions. This allows for AI based camera modes that will automatically detect what you are shooting (like food, landscapes or portraits).

The Mate 20 Pro also has larger camera sensors in comparison to the Mate 20. Still made in collaboration with Leica, the first is a 40 MP wide lens f/1.8 aperture based camera. Paired with a 20 MP ultra wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and an 8 MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture. While this gives the Mate 20 Pro more megapixels, the phone also features a wide ISO range up to 102,400 ISO. The camera also supports Super HDR capability and can shoot macro shots of objects as close as 2.5 cm. Just like the Mate 20 the varied camera setup allows for varied focal lengths ranging from 16 mm to 270 mm.

The Mate 20 Pro is the only phone of the three which is IP68 rated water and dust resistant. Huawei also provides a special underwater case for the Mate 20 Pro to allow for underwater photography upto a depth of 5 meter .

The dual NPUs present in the device offers features such as AI Portrait Colour video. With this, you can implement effects in your videos, in real time. The device also offers a 3D live emoji feature which looks pretty similar to Apple’s Animoji. It has a new 3D live object modelling feature. With this you can just scan an object and the smartphone will recreate it in 3D. You can then animate this 3D model or can even integrate it with your surroundings using a skeleton mapping system. You can even interact with the 3D model if you are taking a photo or video, and it will mimic your actions.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features an in-display fingerprint sensor a first for the Chinese brand. The fingerprint reader uses a 10 level dynamic pressure sensing technology which improves the unlock speed, which has increased by 30% compared to the previous generation. The phone also offers up a 3D face unlock with an IR flood illuminator and 3D sensor placed next to the front cameras in the notch of the display.

    Reverse Wireless Charging

The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro pack a 4,200 mAh battery, offering great battery back up. The company has also introduced a 40 W fast charger which it claims can charge 1 % in just 30 seconds. The fast charger and the device have gone through various security checks and procedures and are absolutely safe, according to Huawei. Huawei has also included a 15 W fast charging wireless charger. This is compatible with both the devices.

The most impressive feature however is the reverse wireless charging. The Mate 20 Pro can be used as a wireless charger for other smartphones. By placing another smartphone with wireless charging capabilities in contact with the Mate 20 Pro’s back, the Mate 20 pro can wireless charge the other device.

Huawei Mate 20 costs €799 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant and €849 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro costs EUR 1049 for its 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant.

Huawei Mate 20 X costs EUR 899 for its 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant.

All three devices will go on sale mid November 2018. The Mate 20 Pro will launch in India end November, with the Mate 20 and Mate 20 x to be launched subsequently. Huawei has also launched a variety of cases and accessories to go alongside the three devices, including a wireless charger for the Mate 20 pro and Mate 20 RS.

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 To Launch On October 25

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 To Launch On October 25

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, which is the next flagship from the smartphone giant will launch in an event on October 25. The announcement has been made by the company through a teaser on Weibo. The teaser in itself is very interesting. It also displays the sliding camera mechanism that we will see on the Mi Mix 3.

Apart from this, Xiaomi just posted another image on Weibo, teasing the Mi Mix 3. The image has two notebooks, and the covers read ‘5G’ and ’10G’ respectively. It is clear that with the first one, Xiaomi is hitting at the fact that the Mi Mix 3 will have 5G connectivity. However, the second notebook is a bit confusing. Xiaomi could be hinting at the fact that the device will have 10 GB of RAM. This is the only possible explanation as of now. While the lack of infrastructure and modems to support the 5G network is an issue, Xiaomi might have worked its way around the issue, hence posting the teaser. Also adding to this is the teaser from back in September. This image showed the Mi Mix 3 in a 5G testing station with its notification bar displaying a 5G network.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has some interesting features other than its sliding camera and ‘truly bezel less’ display. The device has a QHD+ AMOLED display by Samsung. It will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It might offer upto 10 GB of RAM as the teaser hints. The specifics of the primary camera are unknown. The device has a 20 MP front facing camera. The sliding back panel is manually operated and it slides out to reveal the front camera and a  few other sensors.
