    Hyundai launches Celebration Edition Santro Xing

    Hyundai has now been in India for 15 years. The company is celebrating its success with the first car they had launched in India. The first generation Santro, with a 1 liter petrol engine, gave India its first tall boy hatchback. 

    Soon in 2003, Hyundai launched the updated version of the Santro, known as Santro Xing with a 1.1 liter petrol engine. Now, its a decade this car is stil running successfully, as per the sources Hyundai sells 4,000 units a month on average.

    The car’s “Celebration Edition Santro Xing” is the latest revision in the series of updates the car has received. The Celebration Edition adds some interesting new features like – Graphics on the flanks, Rear Chrome garnish, Reverse parking sensors with LED display, Manual sun blind for rear windscreen, new floor mats and Blaupunkt audio system.

    If we talk about the mechanics of the car it remains the same, the 1,061cc-4 cylinder petrol engine that outputs 62 Bhp of peak power and 96 Nm of peak torque with a 5 speed of manual gearbox. But, the new Celebration Edition would be available both in petrol and LPG variant. Pricing is still not out but is estimated to be starting from 3.81 lakhs(ex-showroom). The company is planning to offer up the Celebration Edition Santro Xing with special finance options as well.

    Hyundai Grand i10 Set For Launch Next Month

    India’s second largest passenger car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, will launch its fifth small car ‘Grand i10’ next month with an expected price of Rs. 5-7.2 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs. 5.5-7.5 lakh for the diesel variant.

    Positioned between its two existing small cars i10 and i20, Grand i10 will compete directly with rival Maruti’s bestseller Swift. Hyundai’s small car line-up also includes Santro and Eon.

    Also, Hyundai is likely to build the 1.1-litre diesel engine in its Chennai facility. At present the company imports its diesel engines from South Korea and this move will help them reduce cost as Sriperumbudur plant is capable of producing both petrol and diesel engines. With a 1.1 litre diesel engine, Grand i10 will be Hyundai’s cheapest diesel offering in the country. 

     

    This car is built on an absolutely new platform and will be offered with the 1.1 litre diesel engine in India for the first time,” said Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president, sales, Hyundai India. “It is very different from the current i10.”

     

     

     

    The Grand i10 will be superior with this segment as it could be the first offering rear AC along with all usual goodies Hyundai offers, its makes a very strong point for itself.The festive season is just around the corner, so it is indeed good time for Hyundai to launch the new and the only product for this year in the Indian market.

    Hyundai unveils the new Sonata at Auto Expo 2012, along with new Elantra and Veloster

    Hyundai has launched their new Sonata at the AutoExpo 2012, the new design vehicle comes after along pause of almost 5 year. Designed with Hyundai’s fluidic design concept, the new Sonata has a new design front with a wide grille. The Sonata has a 2.4 litre GDI engine thats capable of 201PS of power, and comes with Variable Timing Valve Train (VTVT) to increase fuel economy and improve performance. The vehicle will be available in two options 6 Speed Auto or a 6 Speed Manual variant.

     

     

     

    Apart from the Sonata the company also launched the new Fluidic Elantra, which has a all new exterior. The car also has a revised interior layout with plush seats and a new design center console. The Elantra has two engine options, 1.8 litre petrol engine with VTVT and 1.6 litre CRDI VGT and an option of Automatic or Manual Transmission.

    The Veloster is the first Crossover from the company that offers a totally new segment for the younger car buyer. Three 1.6 litre engine options, two petrol engines , one MPI unit and the other a GDI, the third engine is a diesel unit. All engine options will have both Automatic or Manual 6 SPeed transmission options.

     

     

    Hyundai also showed of its Hexa-Space Concept, in a global launch at the Indian Auto Expo. The Hexa-Space is the only segment vehicle that offers multi seating layout within the same vehicle. It revolutionizes the way we use our interiors by allowing reorganization of the layout. The centre seats fold flat, the second row of seats can be folded for limousine like space for third row passengers, alternatively the second and third row of seats can be folded down to create a large cargo load bay.

    Hyundai is planning to bring the 2012 Sonata Hybrid to India sometime next year. The Hybrid revamp of 2011 Hyundai Sonata, one of the most sold cars of this segment in the US in 2011, the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will also be launched in India at a starting price of 23 Lakhs. 

    The new Hybrid Sonata comes with a  2.0-liter Theta II turbocharged GDI engine which offers 274 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 269 lb-ft of torque from 1,800 – 4,500 rpm with regular fuel and offers a Mileage of 13.16 KM/L . The new breakthrough Hybrid Blue Drive technology lithium polymer battery pack with powertrain with engine decoupling, significantly reduces the amount of energy required to maintain speeds, resulting in a increase to 19 KM/l sustained.

    The Sonata Hybrid comes with a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control or a standard six-speed manual transaxle. The addition of a sixth gear enables closer spacing between gear ratios providing a better balance of performance and fuel economy while the wide overall gear ratio helps deliver strong acceleration.

    The Sonata Hybrid shares the same “Fluidic Sculpture” design language with all other 2012 Sonatas. The new design features re-shaped front and rear fascias with a deeper air dam, extended rocker panels and lower drag wheels allow the air to flow around the body with less resistance.

    For safety the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid (and non hybrids) have a hot stamped ultra-high-strength steel body structure, advanced airbag technology with 6 air-bags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard.  As an option – higher models will include four-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) including Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Other passive safety features include shingle-style rear-seat head restraints for improved visibility, three-point seatbelts for all seating positions, front-seat seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters, and a rear-seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system for child seats.

    It is unknown if in Car entertainment will be the same in the Indian version of the Sonata. All international versions come standard with a 7 inch multitouch Navigation system and Digital Radio(N/A in India). The Unit supports iPhone and Bluetooth Mobile phone pairing, Also features voice activated- and voice guided Navigation. The in Dash Unit also has iPod/USB/auxiliary inputs and an 8GB of flash memory.
