  • Lenovo and Moto Bring Back Hello Moto

Lenovo and Moto Bring Back Hello Moto

Lenovo may have fully acquired and integrated with Moto (previously Motorola), but it appears the chinese parent wants to keep the heritage of the Moto brand alive. What appears to be a reimagined sound for the original “hello moto” slogan was now tweeted by Moto and you can find the tweet below.

This also just comes shy of the 4th October launch of the Moto Z and Z Play in India. The company wants to build the brand around the new logo language and you may see excessive use of the #hellomoto branding hashtag. Either way, it does bring back some exciting memories of the Moto Razr, which we though Moto will release, but they won’t. So the “Hello Moto” jingle works for the time being.

  • Moto Z and Moto Z Play Coming to India On 4th October

Moto Z and Moto Z Play Coming to India On 4th October

Lenovo brand Moto is launching Moto Z and Moto Z plus in India on the 4th of October. Hopefully the smartphone should reach the country with all its Mods including the awesome Hasselblad Camera attachment.

The Moto Z is a first foray into the “Z” segment on a global level. Lenovo had launched the phone at their global event two months back. The company promised that the Moto Z would be made available outside the US end of September, and October 4 is just a few days off.

    moto-mods-hasselblad-pdp-featex-hass-2-experience-d-vzw-1

The Moto Z has a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display and runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM. You get 32 or 64GB of storage with SD card expansion, 13-megapixel camera with f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization and the new fingerprint scanner that we saw in the G4 Plus. The Moto Z also gets a 2600mAh battery. The phone is super slim at just 5.2mm and light at just 136g.

The best part about the Moto Z phones is the modular capability, which allows you to snap on mods on the back of the phone and instantly shifting the purpose of the phone. Covers that snap can be had in a variety of materials or finishes, such as nylon, wood, or leather.

Moto Z Force Droid Edition lifestyle photography

The SoundBoost Mod, built in partnership with JBL, is a speaker with upgraded two three-watt drivers and adds an extra 1,000mAh of battery capacity. The Power Pack Mod adds a 2,220mAh cell to the Moto Z. Of-course the Hasselblad camera mod adds the pro-camera capabilities of Hasselblad and a 10x zoom. You also get a projector mod that allows a 70″ screen from the back of the phone.

Moto Z Play will be a more affordable version of the Moto Z and will come with a Snapdragon 625. The Moto Z Force which has the shatter-sheild display remains a Verizon exclusive and will not launch in India, which is a pity.

Price wise no clear indication of what the phones will be priced in India. However in the US the phone is priced for $ 699, in India we expect it to be priced similarly between the 45k-50k price. The Moto Z play on the other hand will be the more affordable and more sought after product, seemingly around the Rs. 25,000 – 30,000 price bracket in India.

  • The Moto Z Just Got a Thousand Times Sexier with This Hasselblad Attachment

The Moto Z Just Got a Thousand Times Sexier with This Hasselblad Attachment

The Moto Z is already a good looking phone (have you seen the black and rose gold variant?), However, the new Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod is one series piece of eye candy.

    moto-mods-hasselblad-pdp-featex-hass-2-experience-d-vzw-1

It gives you 10x optical zoom, using a 1/2.3-inch 12 MP sensor, with a 1.55 micron pixel size. It shoots in RAW, you get a real Xenon flash, along with full manual Focus, white balance, f-stop, ISO and exposure controls. The little downside is that it shoots only 1080p video, but it does add OIS to the mix.  You will also get Dual Microphones and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for those who were missing it on the slim Moto Z.

The Hasselblad True Zoom, is pretty identical in form and design to the Sony Q series lenses, considering that Sony now has a partnership with Hasselblad, much like Panasonic has one with Leica (both uber premium range manufacturers), this strategy was ported over to the Moto Mod.

    moto-mods-hasselblad-pdp-specsexpanded-d-vzw

Moto Z and the Z force are modular just like the LG G5, however, the biggest difference remains that Moto Z’s Moto Mods do not require you to remove the battery and re-insert the module like they do on the LG G5. The Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod also works with the similar principle. It Attaches to the back of the Moto Z, Moto Z Play or Moto Z Force (Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play Droid in the US) and the phone automatically recognises it.

Early reviews have pointed to really sharp and quick images, with excellent low light capabilities. Which is what is expected from a large sensor.  The Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod uses the phone’s battery so no recharging the Mod, it also saves images directly on to the phone storage or micro SD, which means no hassle of transferring.
