Microsoft’s Acquisition Of Nokia Is Now Granted By The European Commission

It will not be long, when you can see Microsoft made Windows Phone 8 smartphones in the market. The Microsoft and Nokia deal which was in the picture a while ago, is not final.

As reported by Reuters, the European Commission has granted final approval to the $7.3 Billion deal of Microsoft and Nokia. This deal will allow Microsoft to make Windows Phone 8 devices with Nokia’s assets. The Union has approved this deal without any condition on Wednesday, the commission concluded:

The Commission concluded that the transaction would not raise any competition concerns,” the European Commission said in a statement, adding that it was unlikely “to lead to competitors being shut out from the market”.

Microsoft Office Remote Lets You Control Excel, Word and PowerPoint From A Windows Phone

Microsoft has unveiled a new application which will help users to control some of the Microsoft Office products. Now, with the help of Microsoft’s Office Remote, users can control Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations from any Windows 8 device.

The Office Remote application is a joint effort between Microsoft Research and the Office team, “We want to make sure that we continue to create tools that deliver the best possible experiences to presenters and audiences.” “The world is constantly evolving, though, and presentations need to evolve with it.” says Darren Edge of Microsoft Research.

The application is now available and works with all versions of Office 2013 except for Office 2013 RT. You will need a Bluetooth enabled computer to start with, as it will be the medium to connect these devices together. Moreover, users will also need to install a software in the computer, “add-in” to start using a Windows 8 phone as a remote.

One Click Login For Facebook Coming To Windows Phone 8

Android and iOS users have been using their Facebook account for single click logging in to apps from a long time now, and soon Windows 8 and Windows Phone users will be able to do the same as well.

This feature on Windows Phone 8 is still in the early stages, Microsoft has announced that Foursquare, Adobe and iHeart Radio are the first to get in on this action. Just like the Facebook Login on other platforms, by using this it will be easier to share content from within the app, and to connect account information without the need to input anything again and again.

Nokia Lumia 929 Leaks Out in a Video

Many of us were surprised when Nokia did not unveil its Lumia 929 smartphone in the event held in Abu Dhabi last week. This can be a good news for people waiting anxiously for the phone to launch, as recent leaks show us the images and video of the alleged phone.

WPCentral forum member Falorin has posted images and a hands on video showing more details of the Nokia Lumia 929 which is with a US carrier Verizon. The phone looks like the Nokia 1520 and is believed to sport a Full HD display with a 20 MP camera. The device is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset. What showed up in the video was a nano SIM card which is has not been Nokia’s cup of tea, however, the device is also rumored to be released on 28 November on the occasion of Thanksgiving. Nokia Asha 500, 502 and 503 Unveiled Priced at $69, $89 and $99 Respectively

Nokia has not only focused on high end and Mid range devices with the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 respectively, the company has also launched its feature phones, the Nokia Asha 500, 502 and the 503.

Nokia said that 26 million Asha phones have sold so far, the company has announced that it’s adding three new phones to the Asha series. All the three feature phones showcases the same primary colored plastic casing as we have seen on the 501, the only difference one can easily catch is the new glass like layer of transparent polycarbonate.

The Asha 500 has a 2.8-inch screen and a 2 MP camera, where as both the 502 and the 503 have 3 inch screens and 5 MP cameras with LED flash. The 503 also has Gorilla Glass 2 and 3G connectivity. All three phones have WiFi, quad-band EDGE and showcases one month of battery standby time. The 500, 502 and 503 are priced at $69, $89 and $99 respectively. These phones will be available by end of this year in bright red, bright green, yellow, cyan, white and black.

On the availability of Whatsapp on the Asha phones the company proudly claimed that Whatsapp registers 250,000 users everyday through Nokia handsets. Nokia also announced that the social feature on Fastlane, Asha’s list-like view of recent activity, is now customizable. All these features would also be updated to the already available Asha 501.

Nokia Launches Lumia 1320 a Mid Range Device With 6 inch HD display

Nokia has announced the Lumia 1320, a new smartphone in the Lumia series along with the Lumia 1520 at the today’s launch in Abu Dhabi. Nokia also announced other device like the 2520 Windows tablet and the Asha Phones.

The Nokia Lumia 1320 features a 6 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device is powered by powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipse, the device runs on Windows Phone 8 OS. Lumia 1320 sports a 5 MP camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera.

The device is packed with a 3400 mAh battery which is same as its big brother Lumia 1520. The device has an internal storage of 8 GB which is expandable via micro SD and is coupled with a 1 GB of RAM. The phone is available in black, white, red and yellow color and is priced at 339 USD. The device will be available early 2014.

Nokia Unveils Lumia 2520 10 – inch tablet with Windows RT and LTE

Nokia at Nokia world today has launched the Lumia 2520 tablet. A device which has been a design mystery for over a year and a half, with numerous leaks and hints pointing towards the existence of the Lumia tab. As expected the Nokia Lumia 2520 runs Smartphone hardware but has Windows RT as the main OS. The Lumia 2520 comes with LTE, and a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU inside, with a bright 650nit screen made out of Gorilla Glass 2. The 6.7MP rear camera features Zeiss optics and the tablet has a 2MP front facing camera.

The Lumia 2520 tablet will be available in 4 colors red/white glossy finish, or cyan and black matte finish, by the end of 2013 for a price of US $ 499 roughly Rs. 30,000 outright. Nokia Lumia 1520 Officially Launched With 6 inch Full HD Display, 20 MP Camera Priced at 750 USD

Nokia has put all rumors aside with the official launch of the Nokia Lumia 1520. Nokia today unveiled its new phablet device at Nokia World held in Abu Dabi.

This flagship device from Nokia features a 6 inch Full HD 1080p display resolution is a first for Microsoft’s mobile operating system for that matter of fact this might a first windows phone with a Full HD 6 inch display. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor and is powered by GDR3 the lates Windows Phone Build. Leaked: Nokia Lumia 1320 Ahead Of Launch

Along with Lumia 1520, Nokia is also expected to unveil the mid range device the Lumia 1320 in the event today. The new leaked images from evleaks reveal a new Lumia 1320 code-named Batman.

Nokia Lumia Achieved Record Sales Last Quarter

Sales of Nokia Lumia smartphones have hit a record high as Nokia gears up to release another batch of Windows Phone 8 devices. It represents the fourth consecutive quarter in which Nokia Lumia sales have hit a new peak.

According to the Wall Street Journal‘s sources, Nokia sold “at least eight million” Nokia Lumia phones between July and September. Obviously this doesn’t even approach Apple or Samsung figures, but for a Windows Phone platform that comes a distant third to iOS and Android in usage numbers it’s truly noteworthy.

It’s an improvement on the previous quarter’s record-smashing 7.4 million sales. It’s also a massive increase on the same quarter last year, during which Nokia sold only 2.9 million Lumia phones.

Nokia is expected to release as many as six new devices including the Lumia 2520, which will be the company’s first tablet, and Lumia 1520 at the Nokia World event. A Nokia smartwatch patent emerged just last week, but we don’t expect launch of this device from Nokia this time around as it may very well be in a prototype stage.

Not helping matters is the fact that Apple is expected to the launch its latest iPad on the same day, meaning that Nokia will have some seriously stiff competition as it vies for the world’s attention.

The event will also be the first big public appearance for Elop since the acquisition, which saw him emerge as a leading candidate to take over from current Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer when he goes into retirement in 2014.

Nokia Leaks Lumia 1520, Confirms 20 MP PureView Camera and Snapdragon 800

Nokia Lumia 1520 is spinning in the rumor mills for quiet some time now, we have seen various leaks showing that Nokia will launch its first phablet device within this month.

The company’s official Tmall store -which is an online marketplace in China- recently published a product detail page for the phablet Nokia Lumia 1520. However, the page has no images of the product itself, but the listing shows the same information that we have seen in the leaks lately, 6-inch 1080p display and 20-megapixel PureView camera. The page also shows a Snapdragon 800 Chipset and the price of the device is shown as 4,999 Yuan (about 50,000 INR) price tag.

While this could just be an intentional display of the specs, just like what happened with Nexus 5 when Google accidentally placed the phone on the Play Store. The Nokia Lumia 1520 is supposedly the first phablet like device for the company. We have seen various leaks for this device now and then, and the latest leaks for Lumia 1520 shows all the specs for the device.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to have a 6 inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels(367ppi), the rumors also suggest that it will be an AMOLED display. The processor is expected to be a quad-core Snapdragon 800, clocked at the 2 GHz, which would make the Lumia 1520 the most powerful Windows Phone ever, coupled with its 2 GB of RAM. Sources are claiming also a 64 GB variant, which seems unlikely if we are going to get a microSD slot as well.

The device is expected to sport a 3400 mAh battery and run on Windows Phone 8.1 OS, Lumia 1520 is rumored to feature a 20.7 MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens, improved Panorama and optical image stabilization. In a few weeks at Abu Dhabi at Nokia World, the company will announce its latest product strategy, the Lumia 2520 Tablet. Notorious Tipster @evleaks is back with some fresh images of the upcoming Lumia 2520 tablet in the expected cyan color.

What is currently unknown is the list of specs of the device, however we did hear that it will carry a Snapdragon 800, an outdoor-ready 1080p screen and LTE, the tablet would last a healthy 10 hours on battery. Leaked: This Is What Nokia Asha 503 Might Look Like, Launching This Year

We have been hearing rumors since a long time now, that Nokia is to launch the Asha 503. With the recent news, Nokia Asha 503 is revealed in an image showing different colors.

Evleaks shows up yet another leak for the latest upcoming feature phone from Nokia, the rumoured Nokia Asha 503 on Twitter. The tweet also shows that the phone might launch by the end of this year. The leaked image of the Asha 503 shows the feature phone in multiple colors, with a 5 MP camera sensor accompanied with the LED flash. The image also shows the power button, volume rocker, audio jack and a Micro USB port.
