  • Report : Sony PocketStation To Make A Comeback, Announcement Set For Nov. 5

Report : Sony PocketStation To Make A Comeback, Announcement Set For Nov. 5

Sony has released a very odd trailer for its discontinued PocketStation device. It was a companion device for PSOne that boasted an LCD screen and worked in tandem with a variety of titles.

The PSP-precursor was only ever released in Japan. What it was, was a memory card that you could play games on, similar to the VMU you’d find on the Dreamcast. The device supported multiplayer functionality via its infrared capabilities, which also allowed users to transfer data such as game saves between devices. In 2002, Sony announced that it discontinued production of the peripheral.

Sony seems to be teasing something related to its resurgence. According to a teaser site, whatever Sony is cooking up is “something that will shake the gaming industry”

It is unclear how Sony plans to revive PocketStation, and whether a possible relaunch will coincide with the PlayStation 4 launch. Whether the peripheral will emerge in all territories, if re-released at all, is not known.

We think that there could be some form of PocketStation mobile app on the way. What do you think?

    · The latest model in Sony’s Xperia range of premium smartphones, Xperia C has powerful 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor
    · Showcases Sony’s screen technologies with a beautiful 5” qHD display
    · Create stunning self-portraits with the new voice guide and “Beauty Mode”

Sony India introduces Xperia C, a beautiful 5” smartphone for immersive entertainment that features Sony’s digital imaging expertise and enhancement technology.

Xperia C is designed to bring Sony experiences to life through the combination of its high quality, qHD display, a powerful 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor and a stunning 8 megapixel camera with Sony’s Exmor™ R sensor.

    Openness with Android
Xperia C features an 8 megapixel camera with Sony’s Exmor™ R sensor and HDR for photos, a smart voice guide and “Beauty Mode”. To take a self-portrait with the main camera, users simply enable the smart voice guide and the phone will use voice commands to help frame the shot. “Beauty Mode” offers users a way of softening skin tones to ensure that harsh lighting conditions or blemishes never ruin the perfect picture.

    Premium, signature Sony design
Xperia C boasts Sony’s now familiar OmniBalance design, first introduced in flagship Xperia Z. The aesthetic language takes the form of a precision-crafted skeleton frame, and gives the phone a premium, symmetrical look with a curved back panel for ergonomic comfort. Designed to complement the minimalist style, Xperia C also features colour-changing illuminations to visually alert users to incoming calls, texts messages and alarms.

    Consistent Sony entertainment experiences
As with all Xperia smartphones, Xperia C will allow users access to Sony’s suite of media applications, offering consistent entertainment experiences across mobile, tablet, desktop and console platforms. The “WALKMAN”, Album and Movies apps, provide online and offline content through a single access point with new ways to enjoy and share that content. The “WALKMAN” application provides access to all your downloaded music, with Facebook social integration. The Movies application collates your films and TV series. The Album application enables easy access to Facebook friends’ photos, as well as the ability to organise images both by location and, through the new “Faces” function, by the people that feature in them.

Sony’s entertainment technology turns content into experiences, and with Xperia C users will be able to enjoy these experiences for longer thanks to Battery STAMINA Mode. The latest version of Sony’s battery management technology improves standby time of the smartphone by four times or more[1], by preventing battery-draining apps from sending and receiving data whenever the screen is off, while still allowing you to receive notifications. Simply pressing the power button will wake up your screen and everything starts running again.

    Dual-SIM
Xperia C is a dual-SIM smartphone – users are prompted for SIM selection before making a call or sending a message. Each SIM card can also be customised separately – for example, a formal ring for business or another tune for pleasure – perfect when users want to separate work from play, and handle calls more efficiently.

There is accidental damage cover on Xperia C for 6 months from the date of purchase.

Sony has tied-up with Airtel to offer 1 GB free data download for the first two months of product purchase.

The newly launched Xperia C will be available across all Sony Center and major electronic stores across India.[/toggle]
