    Unboxing the Samsung Ultrabook NP530U4B-S02IN

Samsung’s new series of Notebooks have started to arrive at the iGyaan office. The first one to show up is the NP530U4B-S02IN, and it looks pretty impressive. The overall design of the laptop/notebook is really sleek and lightweight, the outer shell is metallic aluminum, while the underside is made with fiber glass that’s light but resistant to wear and damage. With fast boot the computer boots-up in just 20 seconds while Fast Start wakes from sleep in 2 seconds.

The laptop boasts the new Samsung Series 5 ULTRA’s 35.56cm (14.0) HD SuperBright screen which is coated with an Anti Glare coating, with Image Enhancer technology and an AMD Radeon™ HD7550M (1GB) graphics processing unit.

The company claims a battery life of upto 6.5 hours of usage, but we will test it out in a real world environment.

  • Sony Xperia U Hands On

    Sony Xperia U Hands On

Sony is just about to release the Xperia U in the Indian market, for a price of Rs. 17,000/-. For that price we believe the Xperia U has a lot to offer.

The first thing that comes to attention as soon as you handle the device is different light bar at the bottom of the phone. The bar is identical to the one on the Xperia S but with one major difference. It can change colors according to the theme selected. Not only the light bar, but also a small cover at the bottom of the device can be changed to match the theme of the phone’s screen.

In terms of build quality the phone is really solid, and feels really sleek and comfortable in the hand. It is fairly thick at 12 mm and has a light weight of 110 grams. It currently runs Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) (Upgrade to Android 4, Ice Cream Sandwich, planned in Quarter 2 2012) ,which is beautifully skinned with their Timescape UI, on top of a 1 GHz STE U8500 Dual Core processor. On the back it has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and will be available in two colors black and White, with several replaceable bottom caps.

Check out our hands on images below and stay tuned for the video.

  • Lava Xolo X900 Hands On featuring, One X, Xperia S and iPhone 4s

Lava Xolo X900 Hands On featuring, One X, Xperia S and iPhone 4s

The Intel based Android smartphone comes to India first, and has managed to create quite the buzz. The phone is powered by an Intel Atom Processor Z2460 which is a single core chip clocked at 1.6 GHz and Hyper Threading, there is also a 400 MHz GPU on the SOC.

The x900 has a 4.03 inch display with a 1024 x 600 px resolution and gorilla glass protection. The back of the device is home to an 8 MP camera with 1080p  whereas on the front has a 1.3MP and 480p for video chat

The overall look of the phone is quite a disappointment, the build looks cheap and plasticky, it also has flimsy panels and the buttons are not tactile. the phone can easily be passed off as a cheap chinese replica model. The back however, has a nice soft touch rubber finish and is possibly he only real thing working for this phone in terms of aesthetics.

Benchmarks on this device blew out of the roof with impressive results all around, you will see in our hands on video. The phone is priced at Rs. 22,000 (US $ 425) which seems justified for the hardware and the performance, but not for aesthetics or build quality.

Check out the hands on images, featuring the best of the devices from today. Stay tuned for the Hands on Video

  • HTC One V Unboxing and Hands on

HTC One V Unboxing and Hands on

The HTC One V was launched alongside the One X, but kind of remained on the back burner. Powered a single core processor vs the quad+1 core of the One X, the low price of the One V seems justified.

Hold the device in your hand and you are reminded by how HTC’s build quality has always been great, a metal unibody shell surrounds the device and the front sports a 3.7 inches 480×800 px display. On the inside you will find a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset, Adreno 205 GPU, 512 GB Ram and 4GB of storage(which is also consumed by the OS) You can choose to add a 32GB microSD aswell.

At the back of the One V you will spot a 5 MP camera which does do 720p video and there is no front camera. The design element follows on the first few android devices ever made sporting a frontward chin at the bottom of the phone.

The overall size and feel of the phone seems good, and it fits comfortably in the hand or in the pocket.

  • Samsung Star 3 Duos Gets Unboxed and Reviewed on iGyaan (Video)

Another one of those duos phones, the Samsung Star 3 Duos is the next version of the Samsung Star Series and is a great add on to their existing lineup. Priced just in the Rs.  5000 price bracket the phone delivers quite a bunch of surprises.

Wifi, Dual sim, Facebook, Twitter, and even Sammy’s own Chat On messenger – the TouchWIz esque UI is a good add on as well. The phone feels great in the users hand is well built for a long lasting experience.

Good speakers and microphone make it a good phone aswell. The network seems capable, although the range of the wireless is weak according to us.

We went hands on with the Intel Medfield reference tablet for OEM manufacturers, at the Intel Retail and innovation tour 2012, developed by Intel to give manufacturers an idea of the performance of the Intel SOC.

Initial impressions of the Tablet were quite impressive, it was very lightweight and sleek, the tablet has a very responsive touchscreen and the usual Android lag was un-noticeable. The tab is8.5 mm thin (0.33-inch), weighs under 1.5 pounds (less than 680 grams) and packs a 28Whr battery for upto 9 hours on the go usage and a heavy 30 day battery standby claim. • Intel Showcases new Technology at the Retail and Innovation tour in New Delhi

Intel Showcases new Technology at the Retail and Innovation tour in New Delhi

Intel on Monday introduced their new technology and features in New Delhi, India. Talking majorly on the new trend of ultrabooks, Intel showcased some reference designs and some already existing retails products.

The company also showed off its lineup of Tablets and All in One PC’s with touch screens. The new line also includes some interesting technological improvements including smart cache and better battery life performance.

The highlight of the event was Intel’s new smart security technology, which like Apple iCloud, lets you monitor and secure your laptop if lost or stolen. This new layer of security is added at the base level firmware below the Bios of the manufactured machine. Which will not change even if the laptop is re-flashed with a new operating system.

Intel also showcased the unique identifier for online security that is now inbuilt into their chipsets. Just like the One Time Password Generator handed out by banks to secure login credentials of your bank accounts, this technology can now be directly used via your personal laptop hence eliminating the need for a one time password device.

  • Samsung Wave M Unboxing and Quick Review

Samsung Wave M Unboxing and Quick Review

So we finally got our taste of the new Wave M, the cheaper version in the new range of BADA devices from Sammy. The Phone has a good set of specs and a decent price, but we sometimes feel Samsung is stretching its luck.

The device is well built to say the least, the touchscreen is very responsive and the list of included apps is interesting. The device does however lag a lot, and we saw this during our initial impression, its not a pretty sight.

In the Box is a charger, usb cable, 3.5mm headset with in-ear cups, the phone itself, a  1350mAh battery, a leather type cover and the warranty booklet along with quick start guide.

The back of the device is an interesting metallic texturized looking finish which is actually pretty smooth to touch and yet does not attract fingerprints. The buttons seem tactile and the device feels good to hold in the hand.

Initial impressions of the software lacked and the device failed to deliver during browser testing in the initial hands on (you will see in upcoming video).

    Specs Include

    • 832 MHz Processor
    • 3.65 Inch Screen
    • Bluetooth 3.0
    • WiFi Direct
    • Bada 2.0
    • 5MP Cam
    • 3G

Price is about Rs.12,250 in the Market.
