SkyDrive (Free)

It comes as a shock, but Microsoft online storage service has been available for iOS users. The latest release adds a couple of new features such as support for Retina displays on the new share of apple devices. Features such as the option to upload multiple pictures and videos, sharing of these files via e-mail or web link help it to be the app of the week. The SkyDrive app also lets the user open files uploaded to SkyDrive using other iOS apps. So, if you fancy additional-based cloud storage, head to the iTunes store for the latest version.

  • Hands on with the Samsung Galaxy S3 at Launch in India

Hands on with the Samsung Galaxy S3 at Launch in India

Okay so the Samsung Galaxy S3 was just launched in India, with a lot of fanfare. The company had a list of high profile guests and key executives from Samsung Korea and top admin from their India office. Celebrity Nargis Fakri was also called to introduce the product in the Indian market.

The phone takes a major redesign approach, if compared to the Galaxy S2 or even the Note. The “Inspired by Nature” theme may not appeal to some, but definitely feels exceptionally good in the hand.

The phone features a Quad Core Exynos CPU with a clock speed of 1.4GHz , 16 GB of storage and a 8 MP camera at the back. There is also a 1.9MP HD front Camera and the 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display that is spec’d at 1280x720px with a 306 ppi.

The phone has been priced at Rs. 43180/-, which is a mammoth miscalculation by Samsung, if you ask us. Our sources tell us that the device will be effectively available for approximately 37k.

Check out the images below and stay tuned for a hands on video, coming shortly.

Samsung Says Apple lawsuit was not the reason for the design change

Most folks are complaining that the new Samsung Galaxy SIII was designed by Samsung’s lawyers, to prevent further Apple vs Samsung scenarios. But, Samsung design VP Chang Dong-hoon says that the two are not related.
Our change in smartphone design is part of a five-year plan, not a sudden turn-around,
He also claimed that Samsung has emerged as a market leader in design. He insisted that the curved shape of the Galaxy S III in particular had undergone hundreds of iterations.

New Delhi, Delhi, May 14, 2012 / KaperNET, a global VPN service provider, is proud to announce the successful completion of the closed BETA test and the public launch of its VPN services in India to consumers, businesses and service providers. We’ve setup state of the art hardware in leading data-centers in the USA to ensure seamless connectivity from your device to our servers. With ultra-low latency, high speed connections, we offer a service that is free from bandwidth restrictions and headaches.

With a Premium VPN connection from KaperNET your ISP is not able to monitor and control your online communications and browsing activity, as all traffic is encrypted and no website URLs, videos, e-mails or downloads are seen by your ISP. A Premium VPN Connection provides a layer of security and anonymity by hiding your real IP address. As it is a secure connection between your device and our servers, no one can keep track of your browsing history or habits.

In some countries, access to various VOIP services like Skype can be unblocked by using our service. Along with VOIP applications, our service also unblocks websites that restrict content geographically.

What is a VPN and how does it work?

virtual private network (VPN) is a secure network that uses primarily public telecommunication infrastructures, such as the Internet, to provide remote offices or traveling users an access to a central organizational network. VPNs may serve any network functionality that is found on any network, such as sharing of data and access to network resources, printers, databases, websites, etc. A VPN user typically experiences the central network in a manner that is identical to being connected directly to the central network. VPN technology via the public Internet has replaced the need to requisition and maintain expensive dedicated leased-line telecommunication circuits once typical in wide-area network installations.

What are the benefits of using a VPN?

    • Anonymity: When you are connected to the Internet, either at home or on a public network, it is possible for your ISP or even a hacker to track your every move online. Your Internet provider keeps a log file that shows the times your IP address was used and where it connected to. Some Internet providers save these log files indefinitely and they may give these files to whoever asks with or without a court order and this would mean every web site you visited and everything you did is no longer private… BUT when using a VPN with us, all that your ISP log would show is an encrypted connection to a server. All Internet traffic leaves one of our servers with the same external IP address. All the traffic from many users becomes mingled together and is inseparable should someone try to do it.
    • Security: Our VPN Service allows you to use the same Internet Service Provider (ISP) you currently have and at the same time you remain anonymous in all your Internet activities by routing your traffic through our servers via a secure encrypted tunnel (Virtual Private Network), making it impossible for even your ISP to “spy” on you. By using our service, whenever you visit a web site, send email, chat, ICQ, IRC, FTP, Peer to Peer (P2P), make Internet phone calls etc., your real IP address is not provided to the other people involved in the transaction. This is a tremendous preventive measure against hacking. Most hacking is based on using your real IP address, which the hacker won’t be able to get. As a result we are in fact acting as a firewall keeping you safe from any abuse.

  • Sony Xperia U Hands On

    Sony Xperia U Hands On

Sony is just about to release the Xperia U in the Indian market, for a price of Rs. 17,000/-. For that price we believe the Xperia U has a lot to offer.

The first thing that comes to attention as soon as you handle the device is different light bar at the bottom of the phone. The bar is identical to the one on the Xperia S but with one major difference. It can change colors according to the theme selected. Not only the light bar, but also a small cover at the bottom of the device can be changed to match the theme of the phone’s screen.

In terms of build quality the phone is really solid, and feels really sleek and comfortable in the hand. It is fairly thick at 12 mm and has a light weight of 110 grams. It currently runs Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) (Upgrade to Android 4, Ice Cream Sandwich, planned in Quarter 2 2012) ,which is beautifully skinned with their Timescape UI, on top of a 1 GHz STE U8500 Dual Core processor. On the back it has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and will be available in two colors black and White, with several replaceable bottom caps.

Check out our hands on images below and stay tuned for the video.

  • Lava Xolo X900 Hands On featuring, One X, Xperia S and iPhone 4s

Lava Xolo X900 Hands On featuring, One X, Xperia S and iPhone 4s

The Intel based Android smartphone comes to India first, and has managed to create quite the buzz. The phone is powered by an Intel Atom Processor Z2460 which is a single core chip clocked at 1.6 GHz and Hyper Threading, there is also a 400 MHz GPU on the SOC.

The x900 has a 4.03 inch display with a 1024 x 600 px resolution and gorilla glass protection. The back of the device is home to an 8 MP camera with 1080p  whereas on the front has a 1.3MP and 480p for video chat

The overall look of the phone is quite a disappointment, the build looks cheap and plasticky, it also has flimsy panels and the buttons are not tactile. the phone can easily be passed off as a cheap chinese replica model. The back however, has a nice soft touch rubber finish and is possibly he only real thing working for this phone in terms of aesthetics.

Benchmarks on this device blew out of the roof with impressive results all around, you will see in our hands on video. The phone is priced at Rs. 22,000 (US $ 425) which seems justified for the hardware and the performance, but not for aesthetics or build quality.

  • HTC One V Unboxing and Hands on

HTC One V Unboxing and Hands on

The HTC One V was launched alongside the One X, but kind of remained on the back burner. Powered a single core processor vs the quad+1 core of the One X, the low price of the One V seems justified.

Hold the device in your hand and you are reminded by how HTC’s build quality has always been great, a metal unibody shell surrounds the device and the front sports a 3.7 inches 480×800 px display. On the inside you will find a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset, Adreno 205 GPU, 512 GB Ram and 4GB of storage(which is also consumed by the OS) You can choose to add a 32GB microSD aswell.

At the back of the One V you will spot a 5 MP camera which does do 720p video and there is no front camera. The design element follows on the first few android devices ever made sporting a frontward chin at the bottom of the phone.

The overall size and feel of the phone seems good, and it fits comfortably in the hand or in the pocket.

Sony Xperia S Unboxing and Hands on Review

The Sony Xperia S, was launched recently in India, and despite the high price and low specs seems to doing just great in the market. The device has an impressive display one of the best till date, with a 1280×720 px resolution crammed into a 4.3 inch display along with the Mobile Bravia Engine .

First impressions of the device make you feel like the phone is more eye-candy and less functional, but that is quickly changed when you power on the device and the crisp display shows up. The phone appears to be very functional and responsive.

At the heart of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 Dual Core chipset with 1.5GHz of speed, and a Adreno 220 GPU . The Xperia S has an whopping 12 megapixels of camera resolution at the back with full HD 1080p video capability. On the front is a 1.3 MP camera which is however capable of 720p video aswell.

The design is brilliant and the glowing bar in the bottom area looks exceptionally good. The back panel opens up to give access to the micro-sim slot, the battery is a 1750 mAh battery and is not changeable. The phone has a 16GB store with no micro SD expandability.

  • Exclusive : Samsung Galaxy SIII Launching in India 1st week of June, Prices out

Exclusive : Samsung Galaxy SIII Launching in India 1st week of June, Prices out

So its time again for some inside news. Several of our sources are talking up the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the fact that it will be showing up in India early Next Month.

According to our Samsung insiders, the company will hold a launch event sometime in the 1st week of June and immediately have the device available in the market. The pricing information also seems to be hinting that the device will be launched at Rs. 35999/- as the MRP on the boxed unit of the Galaxy SIII.

The Samsung Galaxy SIII, an upgrade to the superbly popular Samsung Galaxy SII, was launched last week at an even held in London.

The company has taken a different approach to the design of its handset and instead of the boxy design have now gone with a more fluid and organic design with rounded edges. The S3 comes with a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED Display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 px making it 306 pixels per inch. An 8MP camera with HD video and a 1.9MP front camera for HD Video calling.

As far as the chipset is concerned, the Exynos 4212 Quad core with 1.4GHz clock speed goes under the hood along side a Mali-400MP GPU. Three storage options 16/32/64 GB storage and 1 GB RAM give the buyer possibly the best set.

Also according to our sources the Galaxy SIII will only be available in the 16GB version in India.
