OnePlus Launches The New OnePlus 3T With Snapdragon 821 and 16 MP Front Camera Starting US $439

OnePlus has updated the OnePlus 3, and now called it the OnePlus 3T, with “updated,” being the keyword. The OnePlus 3T comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with Quad Core, Kryo: 2x 2.35 GHz, 2x 1.6 GHz which is the same processor seen in the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. The company has updated the storage to 128 GB on the OnePlus 3T to align with the rumours.

The OnePlus 3T also has 3,400 mAh of battery along with Dash Charge, and retains the 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080p Optic AMOLED display. For cameras the OnePlus 3T has a Sony IMX 298 Sensor at a 16 MP resolution with a 1.12 µm pixel size for the rear. The Front camera is also a 16 MP sensor with a Samsung 3P8SP Sensor and 1.0 µm pixel size.

The OnePlus 3T will be available in two colours the Gunmetal Grey and the Soft Gold, just like the OnePlus 3.

Overall the phone has minor improvements over the OnePlus 3 and a lot of existing OnePlus 3 owners may not find them enough to update to the newer handset, with 128 GB storage being the only real push.

The OnePlus 3T will go on sale Nov 22nd in select countries. No real information on the launch of the OnePlus 3T in India at the moment, we will keep you updated.

  • WhatsApp Launches Video Calling for Everyone

WhatsApp Launches Video Calling for Everyone

WhatsApp has finally enabled video calling for everyone using their app with voice calling already enabled. This feature is available through the voice call button, once you tap that button you will get an option to choose either voice call or video call.

We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough. There’s no substitute for watching your grandchild take her first steps, or seeing your daughter’s face while she’s studying abroad. And we want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks.

The video calling feature has been in rumors for a very long time, and it works a lot like FaceTime or Skype, even Google hangouts. During the call you can with between the front or rear camera, jump to messaging or mute the call.

The update will be available across regions in a systematic manner, so you may not see it immediately.

  • OnePlus 3T To Launch Tomorrow, May Have 8GB RAM

OnePlus 3T To Launch Tomorrow, May Have 8GB RAM

There is already a lot of information out on the upcoming OnePlus 3. However, the only confirmed piece of news from OnePlus is that the phone will launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. The company is claiming that its new smartphone will have “More Precision” and “More Power”.

OnePlus is working on making the phone fully equipped, with a new 16 MP camera, a larger battery and possibly dual rear cameras. The 8GB RAM seems to be a bit of an overkill, as the OnePlus 3 already features 6 GB of RAM. Which is already more than many other flagships in the market.

New rumours surround the display resolution and technology, the company may upgrade the resolution to a Quad-HD but will resort to a more easily sourced IPS LCD. Other reports claim that the company will stick to AMOLED, even though they are facing supply issues, as also confirmed by Carl Pei (Co-founder OnePlus), calling it the way forward. But, supply restrictions may force the hand of the company and they may need to resort to means which will help it manufacture efficiently.

The OnePlus 3T will keep the design elements of the OnePlus 3 with a solid Unibody Aluminium shell and may feature Gorilla Glass 5 on the front. The phone will also feature a new version of the Oxygen OS built directly on Android 7.0 Nougat.

The OnePlus 3T is also expected to feature a larger storage with 128 and 256 GB storage options as a possibility.

  • OnePlus 3T Coming November 15th

    OnePlus 3T Coming November 15th

While the OnePlus 3 is already one of the best phones of 2016, there is confirmed news of a OnePlus 3 revision, possibly dubbed the OnePlus 3T to be launched on November 15th. Oneplus has tweeted out claiming that the Qualcomm 821 chipset is coming and the company will give more details on November 15 about the handset.

Rumours have however, pointed towards a 5.5-inch Full HD LCD display, a 16-megapixel camera, and Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. If the OnePlus 3T is running the Snapdragon 821 chip it will be clocked at 2.35GHz.

There were also reports earlier that OnePlus will drop the Optic AMOLED due to supply issues, however, the company later denied that rumour. The OnePlus 3T may be the company’s first phone with a dual camera setup and 128 GB of storage.

  • Samsung Will Launch A Galaxy S8 Plus with the Galaxy S8 To Make Up for the Note 7

Samsung Will Launch A Galaxy S8 Plus with the Galaxy S8 To Make Up for the Note 7

Samsung will launch two Galaxy S8 models according to new rumours in an attempt to make up for the Note 7. The Galaxy S8 Plus will feature a larger 6.2 inch display which will retain the edge design but will also increase the screen to body ratio of the phones quite a lot to somewhere upwards of 85%. The Galaxy S8 will remain a 5.5 inch phone but will also have an edge design.

    Galaxy S7 S7 Edge - iGyaan Hands On 5

Reports of Samsung launching the phones early seem to have been dismissed as the launch refresh cycle boots back to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona end February 2017. South Korea’s Electronic Times reported this month that Samsung will be the sole contract manufacturer of Qualcomm Inc’s high-end Snapdragon 830 chips using 10-nanometre production technology, and these processors will be used in half of Samsung’s next Galaxy S smartphones expected to launch in early 2017.

Rumours are also pointing to a fingerprint sensing display and bezel less design which will put the fingerprint scanner behind the glass instead of in a button. Samsung will also add a dual lens camera in the Galaxy S8 Plus much like the iPhone 7 plus offering zoom capability and a depth effect.

Samsung has also designed a new battery process to ensure battery safety and prevent exploding phones. This tech will fist be used in the Galaxy S8 and S8 plus then to be later moved to other devices in their lineup.

  • The iPhone of the Future Could Fold According to Apple’s Latest Patent

The iPhone of the Future Could Fold According to Apple’s Latest Patent

Apple has just been awarded a patent for anew device which the patent application defines as an iPhone. According to the patent  Apple is researching foldable iPhone designs starting from back in 2013. This patent was filed in August and awarded today shows a new design iPhone which will look identical to the current iPhone when folded, but will unfold into a larger display device.

The patent application uses the words “carbon nanotubes” to define the mechanism that will hold the bendy iPhone together.

Conductive carbon nanotube paths can form signal paths that are flexible and resistant to cracking. The carbon nanotube structures may be incorporated into signal cables such as flexible printed circuit cables, rigid printed circuit boards, printed circuits that include rigid portions with flexible tails (sometimes referred to as “rigid flex”), portions of display structures, portions of touch sensors such as capacitive touch sensor arrays for displays or track pads, camera structures, antenna structures, housing structures, internal device structures, electrical components, substrates, brackets, housing walls, other structures, or combinations of these structures.

The application also mentions that the structure may have a hinge or a bendable joint. The iPhone of the patent may never come into play or could simply be the next iPhone of 2017.

Samsung too has been showing off bendable screens for a while and did showcase a bendable screen last year that could potentially become a smartphone of the future. Samsung patents range from various devices to various display and bend technology types and can be seen here.

  • Android 7.0 Nougat For OnePlus One and Android 7.1 to OnePlus Two and OnePlus 3 Soon

Android 7.0 Nougat For OnePlus One and Android 7.1 to OnePlus Two and OnePlus 3 Soon

The refresh cycles of OnePlus handsets have been poorly placed and the company has usually taken a long while to push Android updates to their devices. However, that may change with the Nougat release.

Benchmarking websites are recording data from the OnePlus One, OnePlus Two and OnePlus 3 with Android 7.0 and 7.1 Nougat installed.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, which is featured on the OnePlus One is considered to be not compatible with the Vulcan API required for Nougat. However, it could simply be a test install without the Vulcan Graphics API, or the company may be working on a final build for its users.

According to Geekbench, the OnePlus One gets a Single core score of 976 and a Multicore score of 2521 while on Android Nougat 7.0

    oneplus-1-android-nougat-759

The OnePlus Two on the other hand was found running both Android 7.0 and Android 7.1 scoring 1168 on Single core on Android 7.0 and a score of 715 on Single Core on Android 7.1, while multicore ranges from 2922 on 7.0 to 2694 on 7.1. Meaning that the Android 7.1 build is not very stable and possibly is still being worked on.

OnePlus 3 is showing an impressive score while on Android 7.1 for Single-core reaches 1747 and a score of 4007 for Multi-core.

    oneplus-3-android-7-1

The push update for the OnePlus Two with Nougat could be bundled with the OTA update said to enable VoLTE on the handset. The company may also enable the support for OnePlus X and OnePlus One, but no official word for that has been given out.

The OnePlus 3 may be phased out for an intermittent handset called the OnePlus 3T which will be designed around a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and will launch in December.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 May Feature A Screen Ratio of Over 90%

Samsung Galaxy S8 May Feature A Screen Ratio of Over 90%

After the pullback from the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is hard at work making the next flagship which may launch sooner than expected. The Samsung’s Galaxy S8’s claim to fame and revival of the brand may depend on new exciting smartphone features, and to do that Samsung may feature a flexible OLED display with a Screen to body ratio of over 90%.

Samsung Display would roll out a full-screen display whose display area ratio reaches more than 90 % next year -Samsung Display principal engineer Park Wong-sang

Samsung engineers claim that soon they will be able to add sensors in parts of the display making the ratio increase up to 99%.

During his presentation, Park Wong-sang also showed a concept image of a Galaxy S7 Edge with a full screen lacking a home button on the bottom of the screen, saying the edge-to-edge display would allow almost all sensors, such as the fingerprint sensor, to be built under the screen.

Apple is reportedly already working on an all glass design for the next iPhone, which in all possibility could be manufactured by Samsung.

    samsung-galaxy-s8-will-introduce-bigger-memory-storage-new-chip-and-a-new-type-of-battery

Samsung may also push its launch cycles of its Galaxy S8 smartphone from late February near Mobile World Congress to early January to launch the handset around CES to make up for time lost during the Galaxy Note 7 recall and sales halt.

The Apple iPhone refresh will happen late 2017 in September.

  • iPhone 8 May Have Wireless Charging And Full OLED Display

iPhone 8 May Have Wireless Charging And Full OLED Display

According to a new report Apple manufacturer Foxconn is already testing the iPhone 8’s wireless charging technology. Something which may be exclusive to the premium variant iPhones.  According to the report Apple may finally be working on the Long Range Wireless charging that was seen in Apple’s patent filing many years ago.

More news has suggested that the iPhone 8 will come in place of the iPhone 7s which would according to refresh cycles launch next year. However, in order to make a big impact for the redesign and 10 years of iPhone, the iPhone 8 moniker will be used.

Apple is said to be working on a new design of the iPhone 8 that will feature an all glass front removing the physical button and reducing the bezels significantly much like the Xiaomi MIX. However, Apple will continue to keep the earpiece and front facing camera in the top region and will put the fingerprint scanner behind the display.

Previous leaks have pointed to Apple bringing back an all glass design, which would be a single piece of glass folded from front to back, alternatively Apple has shown that they are able to make ceramic casing with the Apple Watch series 2 and is possible to make an iPhone with a ceramic back.

  • Lenovo Overtakes Micromax to Become No.2 Smartphone Manufacturer in the Country

Lenovo Overtakes Micromax to Become No.2 Smartphone Manufacturer in the Country

Lenovo has overthrown homegrown Micromax and become the number two smartphone manufacturer in the country just behind Samsung, who don’t seem to be having a good time either. Xiaomi has also climbed up to the fourth spot behind Micromax thanks to their new offline sales models.

While the Smartphone market in India has grown 25%  many hown-grown brands have suffered market share losses due to lack of innovation and high yield costs. Both Lenovo and Xiaomi have focused on offline this year and the results have shown. Micromax’s market share reduced to 9.8% in September from 14.1% last quarter. Intex market share also came down from 8.4% to 6.4%.. While Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo, and Vivo have gained market share with focus on the mid-ranged smartphone segment.

Samsung has also suffered huge losses not only in market share but also market goodwill dropping for a 26% to a 21% in one quarter. Although all companies have focused strongly on the festive season returns seem to be poor, with a lot of interest going towards launches from Apple, Google, Moto, Lenovo and Xiaomi. Lenovo also recently launched the Z2 plus which offers great specs for Price ratio.

Xiaomi Mi MIX Is The Company’s Concept Phone From The Future

Xiaomi at the Mi Note 2 launch also showed off the MIX the concept smartphone that the company claims to have been working on for a long time. The 91.3 screen to body ratio has not been possible till now, but Xiaomi claims they have managed to achieve it with the MIX.

    xiaomi-mix-iphone

Converting the concept phone into reality they introduced some new features, the earpiece is replaced with conductive audio tech and the proximity sensor is based on a range sensing technology that allows the device to not have a top bezel. The display drivers are stuffed in the bottom bezel which also houses the front facing camera.

There is practically no bezel except on the bottom part. The phone will be available in China on November 4 and will come in two models. One, housing 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, will retail for 3499 yuan (Rs. 34503, $510, AU$680, £420) while a premium model with 18k gold embossing and 256GB onboard storage will cost 3,999 yuan (Rs. 39500, $590, AU$770, £480).

    xiaomi-mix

Claiming a completely edgeless design the company showed off a working prototype of the phones on stage. The back of the MIX is based on a solid slim metal frame which is backed completely by ceramic outer shell. The design was made by Philippe Starck who himself showed off the phone on stage.
