Samsung Galaxy S7 Latest Benchmark Test Show Impressive Results

As MWC 2016 nears, and all sorts of rumours and leaks regarding the Galaxy S7 make way across the Internet, it’s really difficult to not stand up, and be impressed by what could potentially be the best Galaxy lineup of phones in the past few years.

Earlier today we reported that the Galaxy S7 on the back of certain improvements to its internals and the UI will come with a promise of great battery life which if reports are to be believed could even take you through two days on a single charge.

And now, to add to that, new reports suggest that the S7’s performance could be far better than what we had earlier expected. GeekBench scores of what is a unit bound for US with Snapdragon 820 SoC on board has clocked some pretty solid numbers on benchmark tests.

The benchmark results from today are much higher than initial benchmarks of the phone suggesting that the manufacturer has carried out some serious optimization work on the handset. Having said that, single core performance still sees Qualcomm’s 820 lag behind the A9 SoC found on the new iPhones.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 upon launch is expected to  to feature a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution, a new 12 MP BRITCELL camera with f/1.7 aperture, and a 5 MP secondary cam. Two SoC configurations are expected. One being a Exynos-based version and the other a Qualcomm-powered model. The battery is expected to be upwards of 3500mAh.

Moto X Force : Benchmark and Gaming

The new kid on the block, Moto X Force which has been in the news for bullying its way out of drop tests without a scratch will today be put to task in our extremely strenuous benchmark, gaming and heat test. Let’s find out how it fares when it comes to handling the most demanding games available on the Play Store.

When it comes to gaming the Moto X Force promises to handle anything and everything you throw at it. Backed by some serious under the hood power in the form of an Adreno 430 GPU coupled with a Snapdragon 810 Quad Core rocking at 2GHz the Moto X Force gives users great gaming performance.

The Moto X Force does not show any signs of stutter, and we noticed little or lag with seamless animations while gaming. 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM on board works in overdrive to provide users Graphics as smooth as butter, and with the help of the sturdy Quad HD AMOLED display gaming on the Moto X Force turns into a visual treat.

Moto X Force Hands On iGyaan 13

Speakers at the front provide great surround audio which adds to the overall gaming experience. The device also does not seem to heat too much, with the temperature staying around 35 degrees. Motorola’s use of ballistic nylon to the back of the phone helps keep the hands from feeling any rise in temperature.

The Moto X Force clocked impressive benchmark scores. The device scored 70839 on AnTuTu while still on Android Lollipop OS. The switch to Marshmallow OS is expected to offer better results.

Meanwhile, the device scored 7288 on Vellamo’s Chrome browser benchmark, beating the Galaxy S6 and LG G4. The Moto X Force’s multicore performance was also good, scoring 2437, though not as impressive as many other flagships currently out there.

To round it off, the Moto X Force not only promises a strong build with its shatterproof display, but does exceedingly well in benchmarks scores and real-world performance.

  • Samsung Galaxy J5 Specs Revealed in Benchmark Test

Samsung Galaxy J5 Specs Revealed in Benchmark Test

Looks like Samsung is really keen on its budget to mid-range devices, as has been the case for a while now. The Korean giant has been heavily pushing out its ‘J’ and ‘A’ series in the past few weeks with the J1 recently being outed. Now it seems the new Galaxy J5 mid-range smartphone will be out soon too, if the latest benchmarks have anything to say about it.

A benchmark listing posted by GFXBench has been discovered that suggests some key specs of the alleged J5 smartphone.

    Galaxy J5 Benchmark

The device is shown to sport a 5.2-inch screen 720p resolution, a 12 or 13 MP (most likely 13MP) rear camera with LED flash, a 5 MP front, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 chipset, which comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

According to the listing, the new J5 will come with a slightly bigger screen and memory compared to the previous J5. Nothing has been revealed on the battery front, but its likely to be the same the its predecessor.

Now, pricing will be key to the success of the J5 and since Samsung is launching a slew of devices in the budget to mid-range category, it is important that the J5 be competitively priced. One would expect Samsung to price this slightly updated J5 successor around the same as the previous version, which is Rs. 12,000. We’ll know more when we get closer to the launch of the Galaxy J5.

  • YU Yutopia: Benchmarks, Gaming and Questions

YU Yutopia: Benchmarks, Gaming and Questions

Micromax’s subsidiary Yu Televentures launched the Yutopia smartphone yesterday. At a price of Rs. 24,999, the device has some solid features like an all-metal body and Snapdragon 810 chipset along with 4 GB of RAM. We put the device to test and checked its hardware and graphic capabilities.

Have a look at our benchmark, gaming and heating test:

The device sports a 5.2-inch quad HD IPS display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB storage. There is a 3000mAh battery pack with Quick Charge 2.0 feature, which means that the phone will be equipped with charging capabilities up to 75% faster than conventional charging mechanisms. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Cyanogen OS 12.1.

We ran AnTuTu and Vellamo on our device and here are its scores along with OnePlus 2, and Nexus 5X:

    Test

    Yutopia

     OnePlux 2

    Qiku Q Terra

    AnTuTu 60369  54929  65164
    Vellamo (Metal) 1346  1678  2226

So, as you can see above, Yutopia scored 60,369 in the AnTuTu test and does better than OnePlus 2 but falls short of Qiku Terra’s score. However, a score of 60K is decent in our opinion. The Yutopia does poorly in comparison to the other two devices in the single core Vellamo test.

    Questions Answered

The fingerprint scanner on the back is fast and responsive, and unlocks the phone quickly. The response time is right up there with the HTC One A9 and iPhone 6s.

There have been several queries regarding the OTG support on the device. We checked out this aspect and found that Yutopia does support OTG.

The device surprisingly does not heat up and after playing games like Asphalt 8, the phone stayed under 40-degree celsius, which is a sigh of relief for a device sporting a Snapdragon 810 chipset

We will have the full review of the Yu Yutopia soon. Meanwhile, you can click here to watch our unboxing and hands-on video.

  • OnePlus 2 Mini Leaked in Benchmarks

OnePlus 2 Mini Leaked in Benchmarks

OnePlus has been busy this year trying to expand its smartphone lineup. The company not only released a 5.5-inch OnPlus 2 a couple of months ago, but also a smaller 5-inch OnePlus X. But OnePlus isn’t quite happy just yet. It looks like the company is planning to go even smaller with a 4.6-inch OnePlus Mini. Apparently, GFXBench has data on an alleged OnePlus Mini device that was recently discovered.

Now its important to know that there is very little credibility to this data as it is possible for anyone to spoof a device on the internet. However, if the benchmark does turn out true, it would take one back a couple of months when people were confused whether the OnePlus X is actually the OnePlus Mini.

    OnePlus 2 10
    OnePlus 2

The OnePlus device listed would feature a 4.6-inch, 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 SoC, potentially 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front, all running on Android 5.1.1 OS.

    oneplus-unknown-1

There is some credibility to the story if one remembers the confusion behind OnePlus X being called OnePlus Mini before launch. While the OnePlus X came with a complete design change, going for an Onyx and glass and the limited edition Ceramic bodies, the OnePlus Mini will likely be a miniaturised version of the OnePlus 2. If this is the case, then the company will likely go with the same design aesthetics as it did with the OnePlus 2.

  • Snapdragon 820 Single-Core Benchmark Score May Mean Good Times for Xiaomi Mi5

Snapdragon 820 Single-Core Benchmark Score May Mean Good Times for Xiaomi Mi5

We all know by now that the Snapdragon 820 processor is the next big thing by Qualcomm, and it will be seen in many of the major flagship devices set to come out next year. We also know that Xiaomi’s Mi5 will be among the first devices to sport the newest chipset.

Earlier, single-core score of the Snapdragon 820 was placed at 2162, which was quite underwhelming give that the latest A9 chipset from Apple has a score close to 2500. However, a new score of 2300 points was revealed by a popular leakster. Though it is still not on par with Apple, it is still a better score and keeps hopes alive for better performing devices next year. In fact, the new score was achieved with the upcoming Mi5.

    Mi5 Snapdragon

It seems that 2016 will see a face-off between Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890. Earlier today, we mentioned that the Exynos 8890 had a record score on AnTuTu with the Samsung Galaxy S7. January will see the first set of phones to arrive with the new processors including the Mi5 and (perhaps) Galaxy S7.

Samsung Galaxy S7’s Exynos Chipset Scores Over 100k On Antutu Benchmark

Samsung’s new chip-set – the Exynos 8890 has earned a record score of 100K in the AnTuTu benchmark test; this new chip-set is also expected to come packed within the upcoming Galaxy S7. The Exynos 8890 has beat out competition from the likes of Huawei’s Kirin 950 SoC (79K points) and the Mate 8, which secured more than 94K points.

    Exynos 8890 AnTuTu

The Exynos 8890 is expected to be incorporated in a number of high-end Galaxy series devices next year. AnTuTu isn’t the only benchmark where the chipset has scored high points; it has also scored a top-score of 6,908 points on the multi-core test and 2,294 on the single-core test on Geekbench. The Exynos 8890 has been manufactured by the 14 nm FinFET process, that promises to be energy efficient.

Despite rumours that this is the chipset that will power the upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge; further reports also mention that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chip could also be in this race to power the Galaxy S7. Stay tuned for more updates.

BlackBerry Device Sporting Exynos 7420 SoC Leaked in Benchmark

BlackBerry just released the much talked about Android-powered device, Priv, a few weeks ago. And now it looks like the company is working on another device already. It’ll still be a while before we know exactly how well the Priv does, but BlackBerry is in no mood to wait, which makes sense since they’ve been out of action for a few years now.

According to GFXBench database, a new BlackBerry device has been listed sporting Samsung’s Exynos 7420 SoC and running Android 5.1.1. Now, it is important you take this news with a grain of salt, as we cannot confirm the authenticity of said listing. But the image below reveals some specs about a possible upcoming BlackBerry device.

    BlackBerry Benchmark

If the above listing is in fact true, it would mean that BlackBerry is going for a chipset most popularly found in Samsung’s Galaxy S6. The handset may feature a 5.1-inch QHD touchscreen, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 16 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP front.

We cannot confirm anything as of yet, but given BlackBerry’s new found enthusiasm to get back into the game, another new device may not be such a farfetched idea at all.
