Safari Crashing on iPhones and Macs World Over

Just this morning Apple couldn’t stop talking about its quarterly profits. But now comes another update from the company which it would try its best to shove under the carpet. The Safari browser is crashing all over the world when the user tries to run a search from the address bar in both iOS and OS X.

We hate to say it but a glitch like this would have been unthinkable when Steve Jobs was around. But ah, gone are the good old days as users struggle with crashing browsers globally.Safari on iPhone

Steven Troughton-Smith, an iOS developer, says Safari’s search engine suggestion feature is to be blamed for this. The problem can be taken care of by disabling this feature or by using the browser in private mode for now, according to Smith. Additionally, not everyone has faced this problem because some users have the search suggestions cached locally or they’re still able to reach Apple’s servers owing to a DNS cache.

Apple is yet to release an official comment -we’ll update you as soon as it does.

iPhone 5S Reportedly Hit By ‘Blue Screen of Death’ Reboot Issue

The Blue Screen of Death is no longer a Windows-specific error, as some iPhone owners have discovered. The iWork apps seem to trigger a reboot associated with a blue screen, indicating that Apple has yet another bug to patch in iOS 7.0.3.

Apple’s iWork applications come free with Apple’s latest smartphone, the iPhone 5S, and the issue appears to happen when switching between apps using the multitasking on iOS 7.

The video below shows the blue screen of death bug happening on an iPhone 5S, when the problem occurs it causes the iPhone to reboot, as you can see in the video.

The Verge reports that one of the workarounds that seems to be working is to disable iCloud syncing (Settings > Numbers/Pages/Keynote, then tap on the “Use iCloud” toggle to disable it).

We’re sure Apple will be working on an update to fix these issues – we’ll keep you posted.

As iGyaan exclusively revealed today, the iPhone 5S and 5C will be available in India from October 23rd.

Russian Proton Rocket Explodes After Take Off (Video)

Russia launched their Proton rocket Tuesday morning local time, carrying three satellites for the GLONASS navigation system. However, liftoff from site 81/24 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome – which occurred at 02:38 UTC (08:38 local time) – ended seconds later, with a dramatic failure that resulted in a huge impact at the spaceport.

Video of the launch shows the 17-story rocket rising from its launch pad, then oscillating wildly and rolling as it pitched over and plunged back to Earth. The rocket burst into flames and began to break apart just before slamming into the ground and erupting into a colossal conflagration.

The entire flight appeared to last a half-minute.

Russian rockets do not carry self-destruct explosives like Western boosters, which prevented any attempt to destroy the wayward Proton before impact.

A Russian Federal Space Agency statement said an emergency committee being created would be headed by Deputy Head of Roscosmos Alexander Lopatin.

Standing 19-stories tall, the rocket weighed nearly 1.5 million pounds at launch, its first three stages loaded with unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide propellants and the upper stage filled with kerosene and liquid oxygen.

According to Anatoly Zak at  RussianSpaceWeb.com, “since the emergency cutoff of the first stage engines is blocked during the first 42 seconds of the flight to ensure that the rocket clears the launch complex, the vehicle continued flying with its propulsion system firing practically until the impact on the ground.”
