Samsung Galaxy S10 Might Have A Secondary Display

Samsung’s Galaxy series of phones are the most anticipated high end smartphones along with Huawei, iPhones and Oneplus phones. So it does not come as a surprise that everyone has focused their attention on the new Galaxy S10 series of phones.

According to a Dutch media source, Samsung had filed a new patent which includes the provision for a tiny second display. This isn’t the average display at the back of the phone, but a display overlay over the front camera. Most phones with punch hole cameras have to leave the lens part blackened out. The new patent wishes to put a screen on top of it. This is so that it can display relevant icons such as an animation of a heart when performing biometrics, a red outline if the camera is not ready, a green outline when it is and so on.  The transparent screen will hide various optical components which work with the help of light. These include proximity sensors, lighting sensors and the front camera. This will enable the phone to have a cleaner design and will be a much better experience for the users.

    Details

The second screen area will supposedly have a lower resolution than the main screen. The two display areas will work independently of each other. The display will also be able to show colours and the transparency of the small display will vary.

Samsung has spoken about correcting the image displayed on the second screen. This can be done using a technology they are calling ‘light path conversion device’. It is integrated as an additional display layer, in a grid pattern. The smartphone is also said to be able to detect if the area is being used for the camera or biometrics. We will have to wait and see if these new patents are in any way incorporated into new phones. Specially the the soon-to-be-launched galaxy S10 but it seems highly unlikely since many previous leaks suggest the phone to have a punch hole camera like any other phone.

  • Disappointing Geekbench Score For Samsung S10+

Disappointing Geekbench Score For Samsung S10+

The most highly anticipated phones from Samsung’s stable have always been their Galaxy S series. This year, they will have three or four variants of the phone. There will be an affordable Lite version as well. Just a few days back, it was revealed that the Galaxy S10 will have 6GB RAM and Android 9 OS out of the box. It was also seen on the Geekbench score that the phone would be powered by an Exynos 9820 SoC.

Now new scores have surfaced. It seems like two of the Samsung’s flagship phone variants will be powered by Snapdragon 855 as well. With Samsung phones, it is often observed that the Exynos processors score considerably lesser than the phones powered by Snapdragon’s latest SoCs. The S10+ proves that point yet again.

    Geekbench Scores

The two variants of the S10+ have one that features an Exynos 9820 and Snapdragon 855. The one with the Snapdragon scores 3413 on Single Core and 10256 on Multi Core. On the other hand, the S10+ with the Exynos processor scores 3248 on Single Core and a meagre 7999 on Multi Core. It is also noteworthy that this score is even lower than the non- plus version. That version scored a decent 4382 on Single Core and 9570 on Multi Core. This version also features the same Exynos processor.

    Rumours

Other rumours that have made headlines regarding the phone include a punch hole camera at the front, better battery among other things. A tenyearchallenge teaser by Samsung was recently shared by a popular tipster on a social networking website. This might give us indication of what else is to come from Samsung. The teaser showcases two camera styles. One having a vertical four camera layout and another with three cameras at the back. The teaser also shows a floating phone but we are not sure if the company just wants to show that it is waterproof, or the phone will actually float!

The launch of the Samsung S10, S10 Lite and S10+ are scheduled for February 20 and we will just have to wait and see how the phone performs and how it is priced to get a better idea of it’s value for money.

Samsung Might Have Accidentally Leaked The Galaxy S10 Design, Launching 20th Feb

Samsung in a press release, may have leaked the design of their upcoming smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy S10. The press release was about Samsung’s new user interface called One UI that is at it’s beta phase at the moment. The One UI is a radically different designed UI compared to the older UI that Samsung used. One UI has enhanced features such as ease of one handed use, minimalistic design eliminating unnecessary distractions and a night mode.

    Galaxy S10

Coming back to the phone, Samsung will be releasing their flagship Galaxy S10 this year and the rumour mills suggest that it will have an under display camera at the front. If rumours are anything to go by, there will be two variations of the phone this year. A Lite version with a smaller screen and a bigger screen version. The bigger S10 will feature a pinhole for the camera instead of a notch.

The photo, which was taken down after a Reddit user pointed out the mistake, shows an in display camera at the top right which looks to be Samsung’s Infinity – O patent coming to life. The phone also had a very thin chin and looks almost all screen. The pictures also showed buttons on the side with the power button to the right and the volume rocker and Bixby button on the left. However, these are all assumptions at this point, the actual design shouldn’t be too far off we feel.

Keeping the photo aside, there are also rumours that the phone may feature an in- display fingerprint sensor. Other rumours for the flagship phones include Snapdragon 855 chipset, 8GB/12GB RAM and 12MP, 16MP and 13MP rear cameras. The launch date for the S10 has been announced by the company to be February 20th, 2019 which is just a few days before Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
