    Google Doodle Celebrates The Indian Republic Day

    26th of January is celebrated all across India as the Republic Day. The Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act as the governing document of India. Google Doodle, commemorates important dates and events across the country is celebrating the Republic Day in India.

    A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages that commemorate holidays, events, achievements, and people. You can head to google.com/doodles to see all the important events that took place on that particular day. Google surely knows to make full use of the abundance of data it possesses.

    The Google Doodle on display for the Republic Day, however, was not created on the first go. Google reveals different designs that came about before the final one was chosen.

    Interestingly, the first ever Google Doodle honoured the Burning Man festival in 1998. It was designed by Google co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed.

    Google Celebrates Godzilla’s Creator Tsuburaya Through Interactive Doodle

    Google is renowned for recreating pop-culture nostalgia through its doodles. From Pac-man to Rubik’s Cube, these doodles celebrate the pop-culture items in our life. Today, Google has released a doodle to commemorate 114th birth anniversary of Tsuburaya Eiji, best known for creating the iconic monster lizard, Godzilla.

    The doodle is an interactive game that allows the user to create his own monster movie in ten easy steps or tasks. Based on how you complete each task will result in a different film.

    According to Jennifer Hom, the brain behind this doodle, the project took six months to develop. The doodle was created in association with the Tsuburaya studio, so that the doodle could capture the spirit of Tsuburaya’s works.

    Tsuburaya Eiji was famous for introducing tokusatsu, a special effect technique used in kaiju or Japanese monster film. The technique involves using hand-built scale models of cities and actors in foam and rubber costumes, which results in this:

    Google Celebrates Children’s Day with Pune Girl’s Winning Doodle

    A girl from Pune has bagged this year’s Doodle4Google contest and Google announced it will feature the winning doodle, titled ‘Natural and Cultural Paradise – Assam’ by Vaidehi Reddy, (Army Public School, Pune) on the Google India homepage. As per the declaration, the doodle appears on their homepage today, November 14, which is celebrated as Children’s Day in India. Google’s Doodle4Google contest is held annually and was launched back in 2009. Students from class 1 to 10 are invited to draw the Google Doodle to celebrate Children’s Day in India.

    This year’s theme for the contest was ‘A place in India I wish to visit’ and it saw an overwhelming 1 million entries from more than 1,700 schools across 50 cities in India. Out of million entries, Google shortlisted 12 doodles that were put up for online voting.

    The winner was eventually chosen by Google’s National Jury that had Political Cartoonist Ajit Ninan, Art Director Children’s Publishing at ACK Media Savio Mascarenhas, and Google Doodle team lead Ryan Gerick.

    “Doodle4Google is the perfect platform for the youth of India to showcase their talent on an international platform. It allows youngsters from not only the metros but from Tier II, III and even IV cities to participate, which is evident from the entries seen this year. The response of over 1 million entries is indeed overwhelming and the talent which has surfaced through the entries is remarkable”, said Rajan Anandan, Vice President and Managing Director, Google India.

    Google has always been creative with the doodles, we have seen a variety of them on different occasion. For today, Google has released a new Doodle on its homepage to celebrate the First Day of Winter, also known as Winter Solstice.

    December 21 is the shortest day and the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This is called the winter solstice, which usually occurs on either December 21 or December 22. The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year as the sun reaches its southernmost point in the sky. Further, the sun begins moving northward, making the days longer for those in the northern hemisphere.

    Countries like America will only see the daylight for 9 hours 32 minutes. Whereas, in Iceland the sun rises at 10 am and the sun sets at 4:49 pm and in countries like Alaska there is not sunrise.

    Google has always done something interesting with its Doodles. The 216th anniversary of the world’s first parachute jump is the inspiration behind today’s interactive Google Doodle.

    Garnerin made the jump on 22 October 1797 using a silk parachute. He had made the jump from a height of 32,00 feet. Garnerin was the inventor of the parachute and also appointed as the Official Aeronaut of France. The Google doodle depicts a parachutist going up in the air with the help of a balloon and making a descent as he goes into clouds and flying birds. The direction of the parachute can be changed with the navigation keys, you might land up in different places like, a land, in water, on the snow along with some penguins.
