Nokia 9 Display Assembly Leaked, 5 Camera Setup And More

After reports surfacing about the Nokia 9’s massive battery, the display assembly of the upcoming flagship has been leaked. At first glance, we can see that the device is not sporting the popular notch and has stuck to a conventional design format.

This does not mean that HMD isn’t making design improvements. The chin doesn’t seem to be very broad and the bezels present on the device seem to be absolutely necessary for the functionality. This leaves the Nokia 9 with an impressive screen to body ratio, despite not having a notch.

Just yesterday, a leak had added to the list of possible features that the Nokia 9 may have. This is a massive 4150 mAh battery to go along with its penta camera setup and in display fingerprint scanner. If we consider all of these to be true and see the actual Nokia 9 with these features, it could be two steps in the right direction from HMD and Nokia.

    Specifications:

The device will have a 6 inch AMOLED display with an in display fingerprint scanner, according to reports. The lack of a fingerprint scanner in the leaked image could point to the same. The device has the Snapdragon 845 SoC with 8 GB of RAM, according to reports. Along with this, it will reportedly have IP68 certification, 256 GB of storage and a 3900 mAh battery. The device will reportedly run Android One, giving a stock android experience.

    Launch:

The launch of this highly anticipated device could be sooner than you thought. Reports tell us that the Nokia 9 had passed testing and entered production in August. If these are accurate, we should be seeing the launch in this month or the next. However, the same source also claims that HMD might be a bit behind schedule as it is very strict with the quality measures when it comes to the Nokia 9. Therefore, HMD might not start shipping the device or even reveal it until a considerable number of Nokia 9’s with no issues are produced.

Nokia 9 May Have Massive Battery And Penta Camera Setup

The leaks surrounding the Nokia 9 have been increasing, and so has the excitement. The latest images give us another look at the rather unorthodox design and also a hint that the device will be packing a massive battery.  Adding to this, with the penta camera setup, Nokia’s flagship is turning out to be more exciting with each leak.

This image shows off the penta camera setup and also mentions a massive 4150 mAh battery. This probably means that we could be seeing a bigger device. The highlight of the Nokia 9 has been the penta camera setup. For those unfamiliar with this, it refers to a setup with 5 rear lenses. This is very similar to the ‘Miniature Zoom Camera’ patent held by Zeiss. It is well known that Zeiss has been the choice for cameras when it comes to Nokia devices. Therefore, it is safe to assume that this leak is somewhat true.

The technology by Zeiss uses an arrangement of multiple smaller lenses in a circle. This consists of an image sensor, normal lenses and a second group of rotating lenses with different focal lengths. Therefore, these would ensure different zoom levels without the need to use a larger module. In the pictures, we can see three vertically arranges sensors, and two on the sides. These are accompanied by a flash.

All these specifications put together, make the Nokia 9 a very exciting device, if the leaks turn out to be true. The upcoming flagship by HMD is expected to launch towards the end of this year. This could be a possible game changer for Nokia and HMD and speed up its slow comeback into the smartphone market.

Samsung Might Have Just Confirmed The Nokia 9

The upcoming Nokia flagship has been a subject to a lot of attention recently. With reports about the Nokia 9 pointing at a penta camera setup, in-display fingerprint scanner and more. It seems that the stakes seem to be very high for HMD. However, in an unlikely turn of events, Samsung has accidentally leaked the specifications of the upcoming Nokia 9.

    The Leak

Yes, we know this is a very odd source to get information about the next Nokia device. But, the website of Samsung’s buyback program in Latvia has revealed some interesting figures. In a section of the webpage which tells you how much you can save on your next Samsung Galaxy phone, multiple options of a ‘Nokia 9’ can be seen. The page shows models with 128 GB and 64 GB of storage. Both the variants also seem to have a dual SIM and single SIM option.

While this could be a simple typo on Samsung’s part, it is also likely that it is not. Smartphone manufacturers are known to have knowledge of the upcoming devices form their ‘rivals’ way before it is announced or released. This being said, it is possible that Samsung, the leader in smartphone sales globally, might have a clue about HMD’s next flagship.

    Flagship Woes

If that is the case and this information is true, we can brace ourselves for more upsetting news. The plain 64 GB and 128 GB options don’t comply with the earlier leaks. The Nokia 9 will reportedly have a 5 camera setup which might just shake up the smartphone world. Rumours say that this will be done in partnership with Zeiss. Also adding to the list is the rumour of an in-display fingerprint reader on the Nokia 9. With such flagship features and groundbreaking camera setups, it is hard to believe that storage options will be restricted to just mid range specs.

The fact is that HMD needs to pull out their best trick in order to make a proper comeback. While a steady sale has greeted the mid range and low range Nokia devices which have been launched recently, a great flagship might be the game changer for HMD.

HMD Global Officially Launches The Nokia 8

HMD Global has unveiled the first ever Nokia branded Android flagship, the Nokia 8 at an event in London on August 16th. The premium smartphone with an all metal design, dual cameras and more 2017 specifications will go on sale in early September for 599 Euros (Rs. 45,000 approx.). After a string of mid-range Android smartphones, the Nokia 8 was highly anticipated for not just being a Nokia flagship, but the first flagship device since the Finnish company’s Windows Phone days.

The Nokia 8 has an IP54 rating for splash resistance. Although,  the smartphone does not look like a 2017 flagship with big bezels around the edges unlike the LG G6 or the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. The Nokia 8 sports a 5.3 inch 2560 x 1440 px display and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. Powering the device is a 3,090mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support via USB Type-C port. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and a 2.45GHz octa-core processor, the Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable via microSD card. The Nokia 8 runs on stock Android 7.1.1 OS and the company has promised monthly security updates and yearly Android updates. The fingerprint sensor is housed inside the home button below the screen.

The new flagship is also the first Nokia Android device to feature Carl Zeiss optics. In a very 2017 move, the Nokia 8 boasts a Zeiss powered dual camera setup at the rear – a primary 13MP RGB (colour) sensor with optical image stabilisation paired with a 13MP secondary monochrome (black and white) sensor and an f/2.0 aperture. The dual-camera setup is capable of recording videos in 4K at 30 FPS and has a portrait mode for bokeh effect. On the front is a 13MP camera which can also record 4K videos at 30FPS.

The Nokia 8 comes with a feature called Bothie. It is the first smartphone in the world which allows ‘Dual-Sight’ video to be live streamed natively and in real-time to social feeds such as YouTube and Facebook. Dual-Sight allows you to use the front and rear camera at the same time in a split screen view. Another feature that the smartphone boasts is called OZO Audio in which the smartphone’s three microphones and Nokia’s acoustic algorithms allow you to capture 360-degree spatial surround sound. You can also share 4K videos with OZO audio with anyone – binaural codecs ensure high fidelity playback even on devices without OZO Audio.

There is no official word on the Nokia 8’s availability in India as of yet. The Finnish brands’ foray into Android smartphones has s far been through mid-rangers, but, with this flagship device, Nokia is ready to compete with the big boys of the smartphone industry.

Nokia Recently launched the Nokia 5 in India, available exclusively in the offline market.
