On the 1st of August, Huawei launched the Y9 Prime (2019) in India which is a mid-range handset. Going by its price and features, the device competes against the likes of Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 3 Pro. However, one feature that makes the smartphone stand out of the pack is a motorised pop-up camera.

Both the front and the back of the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is made out of glass which is held together with a metal chassis. The front of the smartphone accommodates a 6.59 inch LCD display that has a pixel density of 391 ppi and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood, the smartphone packs the Kirin 710F chipset which consists of an octa-core chipset and the Mali G51 MP4 GPU. It runs on a Huawei’s EMUI 9 which is built on top of the latest Android 9 Pie.
The Huawei smartphone is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery which is on par with its competitors. In terms of optics, the smartphone has a triple rear-facing camera which is divided into two separate modules. The setup consists of an f/1.8 aperture equipped 16 MP sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and an f/2.4 aperture equipped depth sensor that has a resolution of 2 MP.
Besides, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 also has a 16 MP motorised pop-up selfie camera which was mentioned previously. Connectivity options on the device include Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, GPS and bottom-mounted 3.5 mm audio jack and USB Type C port which can be used for both charging and data syncing.
For securely logging into the UI, the smartphone also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is available in two colour options which include Emerald Green and Sapphire Blue. It will be available for purchase both via online and online platforms. It is offered in a single storage variant for which the price is as follows:

In addition to the built-in memory, it also supports memory expansion upto 512 GB via a microSD card.
All in all, the latest mid-ranger from Huawei is a capable mid-range smartphone. Although the Kirin 710F is not the most powerful chipset in the segment, we feel the pop-up selfie camera can compensate for that.
Regarding the rumoured specifications of the the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, it features a 6.59 inch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device will have a screen-to-body ratio of 91.006% which is achieved due to the pop-up camera mechanism. The leaks further state that its display panel has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px and pixel density of 391 ppi.
