OnePlus 3 to be Invite-Free From Day One

OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has announced on the OnePlus forums that the OnePlus 3 will finally drop the invite system for free sale from day one of the OnePlus 3 launch.

We’re releasing the OnePlus 3 invite-free, right from launch day. In addition, invites are gone forever from future OnePlus product launches.

The invite system has a special place in our history. When we first started out, our team was incredibly small. We had no idea what the demand of the OnePlus One would look like. We also weren’t fans of flash sales, where there’s a risk of everything selling out immediately, forcing fans to wait indefinitely. To address this, we designed the invite system to give customers a chance to purchase a phone as soon as we had inventory ready.

The invite system has taken a lot of flak in the past and it seems that OnePlus may either move to a flash sale model like Xiaomi or simply sell outright like bigger manufacturers.

You can read the full post in the link below. Would you like the invite system to continue or are you happy about its end let us know below.

Launch schedule for the OnePlus 3 all time zones on June 14:

OnePlus X is Now Available in the U.S and Canada

The OnePlus X smartphone was launched last month in many countries. Now, the mid-range smartphone makes its way to the U.S and Canada. The OnePlus X is available for order starting today. But as is always the case with OnePlus, the latest device will only be available via invite system.

OnePlus continues to stick to its much-maligned invite system, so those who’ve managed to get the invite will be the only ones excited about the launch of the device. Others will just have to fish for an invite elsewhere.

Yu’s Upcoming Smartphone ‘Yutopia’ Expected to Come With 4GB RAM

We’ve already reported that Yu Televentures is back with another announcement of a new phone that will be launched on the 8th of September. Now, we also know what it’s going to be called – the Yutopia.

    yuwtmk

Now, considering the fact that it is part of the YU series, the smartphone should be more or less within the mid-range. Yu had pleasantly surprised its users with the Yu Yureka Plus that was priced at Rs.9,999 with all the right specs.

If reports are to be believed, Yutopia will be competing with the OnePlus 2. This means it will come with higher specs and thereby a higher price. But, do not fret, since it shall still be within the mid-range phones.

    YU Yureka Plus 6

Further leaks also suggest that the Yutopia will come with a 5.2 inch FHD display, which will be powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Octa-core MSM8994 SoC. As far as storage capacity is concerned this smartphone is expected to come with 4GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Apart from all this leaks also suggest that the Yutopia might also come with a 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera with a price tag of $315, which is approximately Rs.21,054. This price tag is perhaps not so ‘mid-range’ as we might have expected it to be, however, we must note that these are mere leaks and speculations.

Yu has already started sending out invites for its ‘the next wonder’ – Yutopia, that is set to launch on the 8th of September (just one day before the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus). So, watch this space for more details and updates about the new Yutopia. Let’s hope it’s as ideal as its name suggests.

Regardless of how the smartphone sales for other companies are doing, OnePlus has skyrocketed to making up to 2 million reservations for its new device OnePlus 2, as of Thursday. This number has established the company’s place in the industry for the foreseeable future.

“Over 2 MILLION reservations for the OnePlus 2. Thank you for your overwhelming support!” reads OnePlus’ Twitter account.

The company is said to have had 1 million reservations within hours of the unveiling of OnePlus 2 and took only a week for reservations to hit the 2 million mark. • OnePlus is Selling OnePlus 2 Invites for Charity

OnePlus is Selling OnePlus 2 Invites for Charity

Yes, OnePlus has given us a legit way to purchase OnePlus 2 invites. The Chinese company on their official blog admitted that they have always known that people sell OnePlus invites on third-party websites. In their words, since they couldn’t beat them, they decided to join them. But all for a good cause.

OnePlus is auctioning a total of 100 invites. Fifty invites are already up for grabs and the next batch of 50 will go live tomorrow. Currently, the bidding range is between $151-$405 (Rs. 9,600-25,000 approx). Seems like a heavy cost added to a smartphone which costs only Rs. 24,999 ($400 approx.) You could look at it this way – It’s the cost you pay to be one of the first people in the world to own a OnePlus 2.

The proceeds from the OnePlus invites auction will go to the UNICEF Tap Project. For those of you who don’t know much about it – it’s a cause which contributes to providing clean and safe water to underprivileged children around the globe.  The company states that 100% of the proceeds would be given to the charity.

So, if you’ve been planning on donating a percentage of your hard earned money, and want to purchase a OnePlus 2. This might be a good option for you.  Click here to check out the eBay auction.

  • OnePlus’ Exclusive Invite System Gets Hacked

OnePlus’ Exclusive Invite System Gets Hacked

Line-cutting, is by far the most annoying thing on earth. This happens at banks, colleges, restaurants, coffee shops etc. and now it has happened on the, already miles long, OnePlus 2 sales line.

How did this happen? We are all aware that OnePlus has an exclusive system in place, if you want to get a hold of its new device – OnePlus 2. This system needs one to score an invite to avail the new device. The invites are limited in number and tough to get a hold of. However, even after registering for the device there are a couple of other things one needs to do in order to get ahead. For example- one has to be up to date with all the giveaways, one needs to pair up with a friend by using the invite that can be shared with friends or family, keep up with all the contests on social media about the new device, and one can even join the company’s forum to get a preference of receiving an invite.

    OnePlus 2 3

This system has been kept in place to ensure that they only manufacture enough inventory as the demand, so that the supply will never overpower the demand. Again you ask why? This is because they are a young start up and this system will help them manage their risks far better than a mass-scale production would.

    OnePlus 2 0

Now one particular user, Jake Cooper, an avid OnePlus follower, who fulfilled all these commands and finally got a position on the OnePlus invite waiting list at number 9000, was faced with a strange crisis after falling to a position of > 70,000 even after following all the processes. However, for the OnePlus 2, the company suggested, that in order to get ahead in line, one can refer as many friends to the invite list, and accordingly one’s position moves forward.

    OnePlus

His solution: he hacked the system via a number of technical manoeuvres, a couple of python lines and mailinator.com, and managed to send a number of references to random email ids through an affiliated account. He actually managed to get from > 70,000 in line to just 1,694 in about 20 minutes.

    OnePlus 2 12

However, he has actually notified OnePlus about the hack, and has even shared the entire procedure on a website, as to how he skipped so far ahead on an exclusive and protected line. He has also offered to take down the procedure if notified by OnePlus. For more details of how this happened, click here.

Do you approve of this technical manoeuvre?

  • Company Confirms India-Specific OnePlus Invite System to Arrive Soon

Company Confirms India-Specific OnePlus Invite System to Arrive Soon

OnePlus has already confirmed that it will launch its flagship handset OnePlus One soon in India. Now, the company has confirmed that it will release India-specific invites to prospective ‘One’ consumers online.

OnePlus One, which has been called a ‘Flagship killer’, will continue to sell on an invite-based approach, just like it has done everywhere else. The premium looking device packs in some high-end hardware specifications while maintaining a relatively cheaper price tag. But the phone has been criticized for one reason; its scarce availability.

The company director (Global), Carl Pei, in his latest blog post, besides wishing Indians’ a belated Happy Diwali, announced the cheerful news of releasing India-specific OnePlus One invites to the fans.

“We’ve made tremendous progress in just the last week and are grateful to all of our partners who took time during their holiday to help us move this forward. We’ll be ready to share some very exciting updates with you in the coming weeks. But for now, we wanted to talk a little about how you’ll be able to get the One in India.” Pei added.

    oneplus-one-igyaan-3

The company said that like other countries, Indian users will be able to purchase the One with an India-specific invite. According to Carl Pei, invites have been immensely helpful for the company so far and they allow them to control their inventory, scale their team and support services to grow along with the demand and create an overall better experience for the users. “As this is our first experience with the Indian market, we didn’t want to be too ambitious. We are more concerned with offering outstanding service and experiences to users than getting the One in as many hands as possible. It will take us some time to learn, and the invites are a great way for us to do that.” Carl further stated.

Besides introducing invitation-only registration process, the company is also in talks with some e-commerce websites to offer OnePlus One in India. If all things fall in place, the flagship phone is expected to set a mark in the Indian market by December end for around Rs. 25,000.

  • Oneplus to End the Invite System By October

Oneplus to End the Invite System By October

It’s no secret that Chinese phone manufacturer OnePlus is coming to India soon. Their phenomenal product, the OnePlus One is a flagship killer that brings top level specs in affordable pricing encased in eye appealing exteriors. The phones have been built in limited quantities because of the manufacturing restrictions of the company that led it to sell the phones through an invite system.

The invite system has been the company’s business strategy since they started. Customers who aspired for the products had to get the time limited invites to be able to buy the phones. But this system caused a lot of heartaches amongst the potential customers who couldn’t get an invite. (Play in our Invite Giveaway Here)

Interestingly OnePlus is going to do away with the invite system altogether. In a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) the representative had this to say; “We are working on a pre-orders system, we were initially aiming for September but it’s been slightly delayed, hopefully we’ll be ready to launch it in October.”

Now they haven’t mentioned as to what this new pre-order system would look like, but it sure will make a lot of folks in India happy as the company plans to bring the One to India, most probably by the end of this year.

The phone will also offer some kickass back panels
The phone will also offer some great back panels and accessories

OnePlus One’s specs help make it the only phone capable of taking on the Xiaomi Mi 3. Its interiors are made of Snapdragon™ 801 processor with 2.5GHz Quad-core CPUs, 3 GB RAM and runs Android 4.4 based Cynogenmod. One the exteriors the device has a 5.5 inch full HD display with a 13 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP camera at the front. Not just that, the device also offers a good number of accessories like back panels and flip cases.

The fall of the invitation system will be rejoiced by the folks waiting to land the device for themselves. With its high specs, the phone is future proof for at least the immediate future. Considering its closest competitor, Xiaomi also facing stocks shortages; OnePlus is pretty safe in its market for now. Hopefully, the new pre-order system would cause a lot less heartburn and bring a powerful mobile experience to the folks who’ve been waiting for it for a long while.
