• iPad Mini Retina Display Rumors already here

iPad Mini Retina Display Rumors already here

ipad mini retina

The iPad Mini came to market only a few days ago, but the rumors of the next generation of iPad Mini have already begun. Chinese-language DoNews said in a story dated November 7 that iPad Mini display makerAUO is working on a 2,048×1,536 pixel resolution display for the next iPad Mini Retina.

Boasting the same resolution as the iPad 3 and 4 with Retina display the next iPad Mini’s ppi will end up to be over 300 ppi vs the 264 pixels per inch on the current gen of iPad. Well most would sspeculate these to be wild Industry rumors, it would be only logical for Apple to complete the iOS platform and enable each device on Retina. Especially since Retina has transferred over to the Mac OS based Macbook Pros as well.

The next iPad Mini is supposedly going to be launched next year, either in their Feb-March iPad refresh or their new October announcement schedule. Either way, Apple is still selling out their iPads and expecting to do better this month when the Cellular variants of both the iPad Mini and iPad 4th gen come into sale.

• Apple Announces Oct 23rd Special Event- Here comes the iPad Mini

Apple Announces Oct 23rd Special Event- Here comes the iPad Mini

ipad mini

Apple has just sent out invites for a “Special Event” to be held on Oct 23rd, supposedly announcing the new iPad Mini. While its only been a couple of weeks since when the iPhone 5 was launched Apple has still got a lot more up its sleeve.

While the iPad Mini has been leaked all over the internet, there are more rumors of various other products being launched. Alongside the iPad Mini, Apple will also reportedly update the Macbook Pro 13 inch and offer a retina version of the laptop. A new Mac Mini, revised Cinema displays and iMac are also long overdue.

But its unlike Apple to announce so many products at a single event. While the iMac and revised Cinema display may have to wait, a new Mac Mini is reportedly being worked on alongside the fully confirmed Retina Macbook Pro 13. While speculations will continue to go on, we wont let down the coverage come Oct 23rd, So stay tuned.

The iPad Mini apparently has a  7.85-inch display powered by an A5 processor and 512MB of RAM, priced starting anywhere from $250 to $350, available in a week or two. It will probably come in both Wi-Fi and 3G versions, and will look like, well, a smaller iPad. The event will be  held at 10am PST/1pm EST at the California Center in San Jose.

• Leaked iPad Mini Pricing Shows 8GB Version Listed As Low As $249

Leaked iPad Mini Pricing Shows 8GB Version Listed As Low As $249

     iPad mini

Apple is widely expected to announce a smaller version of its market-leading iPad tablet on 23 October, although the company has not yet issued invites or given any indication that it has a product in the pipeline.

Most expectations are that it will be half the size of the existing iPad, which has a screen measuring 9.7in diagonally; rescaling would mean an iPad mini would have a screen measuring 7.85in diagonally, but with a total of half the screen area of its bigger sibling.

Over the weekend, a German blog posted what looks like an inventory list of the various iPad mini models along with their pricing. According to the screenshot, the iPad mini will be available in 16 different versions. It will come in both black and white and range in storage from as little as 8GB to as much as 64 GB. Additionally, the image indicates there will be versions of the device that can connect to cellular networks.

As per the screen cap, iPad mini will start with 8GB Wi-Fi only variants in black or white that will cost €249. You can double the capacity or add cellular networking to the same capacity for an additional €100. In other words, the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad mini will cost €349, as will the 8GB iPad mini with cellular networking. The trend continues with the top end model with 64GB storage and cellular networking priced at €649.

Given Apple’s current pricing strategy, US prices are likely to be the same i.e. between $249-$649, rather than exchange rate equivalents of their Euro counterparts.

This is apparently the complete line-up of iPad minis that we’ll see upon release next month:

• 8GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in Black – $249 / €249
• 8GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in White – $249 / €249
• 16GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in Black – $349 / €349
• 16GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in White – $349 / €349
• 32GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in Black – $449 / €449
• 32GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in White – $449 / €449
• 64GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in Black – $549 / €549
• 64GB iPad mini Wi-Fi in White – $549 / €549
• 32GB iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular in Black – $549 / €549
• 32GB iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular in White- $549 / €549
• 64GB iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular in Black – $649 / €649
• 64GB iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular in White- $649 / €649

• iPad Mini will launch Oct 23rd according to All Things D

iPad Mini will launch Oct 23rd according to All Things D

Apple iPad Mini

iPad Mini is all set to launch on the 23rd of this month according to a report by AllThings D. The Apple iPad Mini is said to be a stab at success stories behind the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 type tablets. The iPad Mini will be, if at all, Apple’s first foray into this size segment. Weather or not the tablet will fit the size bill is unknown.

You might want to take this news with a pinch of salt as there is really no confirmations surrounding it. Recent reports have been in agreement that we should expect a 7.85-inch iPad with Apple’s new Lightning connector, and an “ultra-thin” design.

The iPad mini leaks are starting to bomb the circuit. The new anodized Aluminum design is certainly eye-catching. Gizmodo reader Martin Hajek has produced some high-quality renders of the device that show off what its black anodized aluminum casing will look like. The pictures sent to Gizmodo not only show off the tablet’s casing but also showcase the device’s rumored 7.85-inch display that features thinner side bezels when compared to the iPad.

• 60% Of iPhone Users Running iOS 6

60% Of iPhone Users Running iOS 6

A new study says most iPhone users have updated to iOS 6, Apple’s latest operating system, despite a number of flaws that have plagued its launch.

After only two weeks on the market, iOS 6 is running on over 60% of iPhones, 15% more than on iPads.  Chitika, an ad network and analytics firm, put together the study.

Apple is known for having fast adoption rates for its operating systems, but it wouldn’t have been surprising if iOS 6 bucked that trend after suffering from a plethora of problems that have embarrassed the Cupertino tech company since its launched.

iPhone users are adopting iOS 6 faster than iPad or iPod Touch users, likely because most iPhones support the upgrade, whereas the iPad 1 and iPod Touches before the 4th generation won’t be updated past iOS 4 or iOS 5.

In particular, the iPad 1, due to its limited 256MB of RAM, was not able to update past iOS 5.1, leaving many owners angry that their first-generation product is now obsolete. While most apps will still run fine for another generation or so on iOS 5, many developers will begin enforcing iOS 6 in the coming months.

• iPad Mini : Latest Specs Leaks

iPad Mini : Latest Specs Leaks

According to the latest leaks of the iPad mini, the 7.85-inch tablet will come in black and white colours, differentiating itself from the silver anodized aluminum of its bigger brother. The colour scheme gels with the iPhone 5, and could mark territory for Apple as they move away from the single-toned iPad.

Inside the device, we see a nano-SIM slot and antennas for 3G/LTE connectivity, so expect the iPad mini to come in both WiFi and cellular-compatible versions, likely for a smaller premium than we’re used to. The Lightning connector input is present as well, which is unsurprising.

You can see a hole for a rear camera, no flash, and the typical Apple logo with a simple ‘iPad’ insignia etched on the back. The black tone seems darker than the ‘Slate’ colour we are used to on the iPhone 5, though we don’t know what it will look like in the real world.

• WSJ : Apple Begins Production of iPad Mini

WSJ : Apple Begins Production of iPad Mini

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has started mass producing “a new tablet computer smaller than the current iPad.” It’s heavily rumoured for months now that Apple will be launching the “iPad mini” and have it come with a display sized 7.85-inches – this is to compete agains all the other smaller tablets on the market, such as the Nexus 7, BlackBerry PlayBook, Samsung Tab, and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD.

It’s been rumored for weeks that Apple is planning to unveil an iPad Mini in October. In August, schematics of the new device were bouncing around the tech blogs. The new smaller iPad will be priced at around $250-$300 (£156-£187 respectively), T3.com reported, citing Chinese sources.

During an Apple’s earnings call in October 2010, the company’s late co-founder Steve Jobs once famously dissed mid-sized slates.
“The 10in screen size is the minimum size required to create great tablet apps. 7in tablets are tweeners: too big to compete with a smartphone, and too small to compete with an iPad,” Jobs said. These are among the reasons that the current crop of 7-inch tablets are going to be DOA — dead on arrival,”
Report: iPad Mini Oct 10th invites will go out next week!

According to a major Apple investor known to Fortune magazine, the invites for the iPad Mini event will go out next week. It has long been rumored that Apple will launch a smaller 7 inch version of the iPad, possibly in 16:9 aspect ratio.

Several mockups and case designs have leaked over time and it seem that the iPad is indeed coming. The most probable reason for the time of launch could be the upcoming Holiday season which will truly drive numbers through the roof.
