Google Is Planning To Launch Atleast Five Products in 2019

Google started launching devices with its branding with the first generation of Pixel smartphones. Some praiseworthy devices that the company has launched since then include the Google Home smart speakers and Pixel range of smartphones. However, the company has only had a handful of devices to its credit. Fresh Reports claim that Google is working on several new devices, and it might launch a total of five products this year. These are expected to be the Pixel 3 Lite series, the Pixel 4, a new version of Google Home, Pixel smartwatch and a Google Security Camera.

This news arrives after numerous leaks of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel smartwatch have surfaced on the internet. Other products, like the Google Home refresh and a cheaper Pixel smartphone, also have been due for a while now. These products are expected to make their way to the markets in the coming months.

    Google’s Product Lineup For 2019

One device that company is likely to launch is the Pixel 4 smartphone which will succeed the Pixel 3 lineup from yesteryear. The handset is expected to launch in the month of October this year. It is assumed to have an improved design and upgraded cameras. Going by the company’s past chipset selection, the future Pixel smartphone is likely to run on the latest Snapdragon flagship SoC which is the Snapdragon 855. In terms of memory and storage, the device is expected to be offered in the following storage variants:

    • 6 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM
    • 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM

The Google Pixel 3 Lite series is also expected to be unveiled this year. This includes the Pixel 3 Lite and the Pixel 3 Lite XL. The devices have been leaked countless times online and are expected to launch at the Google I/O in May. The leaks suggest that Pixel 3 Lite will feature the Snapdragon 675 while the Pixel 3 Lite XL will feature the Snapdragon 710. Google is expected to target the mid-range smartphone market with these devices. The anticipated smartphones will be available in the following storage variants:

    • 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM
    • 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM

Another product that Google may launch this year will be a revised version of its Google Home speakers. They may launch alongside the Pixel 4 in October and are expected to have an updated design and refined audio quality. The Pixel Smartwatch is another product that is expected this year. It has been leaked several times and will compete against the likes of Apple Watch. Interestingly, it will be the first smartwatch that the company releases.

Google is also planning to launch the Google Home Security Camera later this year. It will be made in collaboration with Nest, which is an American company best known for making smart home products. The Nest products may be rebranded as the company got integrated into Google early last year. So the Google Home Security Camera could be part of the Google Home range of devices or feature the Nest branding. The device is expected to be announced in October at the Pixel 4 launch event.

Pixel 3XL Lite Spotted Again On Geekbench

The Pixel 3 series was praised all over because of its amazing camera and clean software. What that phone didn’t win any awards for, was the boring design and the high price. Looks like Google is trying to win back the lost audience through the Pixel 3XL Lite. Although there have been many leaks regarding the phone, but it seems like we are getting quite close to the final launch of the device.

The Pixel 3XL Lite was again spotted on Geekbench. The listing was uploaded on January 28. What’s interesting about this is it shows the name of the device as Pixel 3a XL. This could be the final name Google is thinking about using or just again a code name. The listing confirms this is indeed the lite version because of the code name Bonito. The Lite version of the series had code named Bonito and Sargo.

    Pixel 3a XL Specifications

The listing on Geekbench reveals some of the specifications of the upcoming Pixel device. The phone will have 4GB of RAM which is weird as the last listing reported the RAM as 6GB. It is a possibility that there may be 2 versions of the phone. The listing does not reveal the processor but the specs suggest it is a Snapdragon 710. The 710 is a mid-range chipset which is what this phone is going to be.

The camera is expected to be the same one as its bigger siblings. One thing that will change is there may be only one lens on either side. The phone will also see the comeback of the headphone jack. The 3.5mm jack was ditched by Google at the launch of Pixel 2 series. The metal and glass body is also substituted by a plastic one.

Also, looking at the scores of the phone, it seems like Google may have minimised the capacity of the chipset again. This is because the phone scores 1640 in single core and 4973 in multi core. This is not new to Google, as it always under clocks its phones.

In conclusion, the Pixel 3XL Lite or the Pixel 3a XL series, whatever it ends up being called, looks like a compelling option. The phones may be a great option for people looking for a good camera on a budget. The success of the phones may depend on what Google ends up pricing the devices. The devices are expected to be announced in May, in Google I/O 2019.

Google Pixel 3 Lite Camera Samples Posted Before Official Launch

The specification and pictures of the alleged Google Pixel 3 Lite were previously leaked on Twitter. The leaker goes by the name of Rozetked on Twitter. Now he has shared camera samples that are supposedly shot on the Pixel 3 Lite. The user has shared several samples that include both indoor and outdoor shots. The user reveals that the Pixel 3 Lite, like the elder Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL, also has a 12 MP rear camera with dual LED Flash.

    Camera Samples

The first sample demonstrates the amount of background blur the device is able to capture in portrait mode. Though the chosen subject could have been better, the shot gives a pretty good idea as to what we can expect from the portrait mode on the device.

The second shot is taken on a public street. Like the other shots, it is crisp and well lit and the objects look defined and well saturated. Again, nothing much can be said about the quality  of the images, as the surroundings do not look very bright or have colours that really pop out.

Another shot that was taken on the alleged Pixel 3 Lite produces similar results where the objects can be easily differentiated and the colours look natural. Although Rozetked has not revealed anything about Google’s night camera mode. It is very likely to be featured on the upcoming device as this phone will help attract a lot of potential buyers for the company.

    Pixel 3 Lite Specifications

The Pixel 3 Lite has a 5.56-inch display with a resolution of 2220 x 1080 px and a pixel density of 444 ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone has the Octa-Core Snapdragon 670 CPU along with the Adreno 615 GPU. The smartphone has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of inbuilt storage. It is powered by a 2,915 mAh Li-Ion battery and runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system.

According to rumors, the Pixel 3 Lite will be a mid-range smartphone and will be priced between 400-500 USD. However, Google is yet to comment on the existence or launch date of the smartphone. The smartphone was recently spotted in Android Pie’s source code. Hence, the chances of this being a reality are quite high.
