Everything We Know about the Moto G4 and G4 Plus

With the expected Launch of the next Moto G aka the Moto G4 and G4 plus to happen soon, there is already a lot of information that has been outed by tipsters and benchmarks. This is a roundup fo what to expect on the upcoming Moto G.

    Name

The brand Motorola is no more and since the Lenovo acquisition is now complete the subsidiary brand is now called “Moto.” The Moto G revisions were known as the “Moto G” and the same with other phones. However, the interwebs and leaks suggest a proper Moto “G4” branding along with what rumors are pointing to as a Moto “G4 Plus,” which will either be a larger or a beefier specced handset.

    Look

While @evleaks has been mostly responsible for leaking out Moto G4 images, some others have appeared online.

The images of the Moto G4 came out quite a while ago, they show the phone featuring a square front facing fingerprint scanner which may finally introduce the Moto lineup to fingerprint scanners. The rear shows a new camera layout along with dots that indicate either sensors or high-intensity microphones.

    Specifications

Leaks have pegged that the Moto G4 is expected to have a 5.5-inch display, 13MP camera and 16GB of internal storage. The Moto G Plus is also expected to get a 5.5-inch display, a 16MP camera and 16GB of internal storage. Two models the XT1622 and XT1642 have been spotted on the FCC website.

The Moto G4 has also been spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench, revealing some other specs, which include a Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB RAM, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

    Launch Date and Price

After Motorola’s official invitation to their launch on the 17th of May, everyone is expecting the company to introduce the Moto G4 and G4 plus at the same event , while pricing has been speculated at around Rs. 21000 for the Moto G4 Plus, it seems highly unlikely that the company will launch the G4 for a different category when it has constantly stayed in the Rs. 15000 price bracket. So while the G4 Plus may be priced slightly higher we are expecting the Moto G4 to launch somewhere in the Rs. 14500 price range.

It is also official that the next phone (which we assume is the G4) will now be an Amazon exclusive.

Apple 21st March Event Round-Up, iPhone SE, iPad Pro 9.7 and More

Apple at their Town Hall event at Cupertino had what is possibly their last event at the old campus. As Tim Cook left the stage, he announced that Apple crew will be shifting into the new campus by end 2016-early 2017. While Apple made many announcements, here are a few that should matter.

    LIAM

Apple started the event by talking about their responsibility towards the environment. Then came LIAM an intelligent machine/robot that has been two years in development in Apple labs. LIAM is designed to sense and disassemble iPhones and other proprietary Apple Devices, and break them out into components that can then be recycled easily. This Robot/ machine will help Apple reduce their carbon footprint and help get back precious materials like gold, silver and platinum into the recycle chain so they can get back on newer devices and not get discarded in landfills.

    Apple Watch

While no major upgrades of the Apple Watch itself, Apple is offering new colors for their Sports band and new leather band colors. Apple has also dropped the price of the Apple Watch to US $ 299 as the starting price.

    Apple TV

    iPhone SE

iPhone Se colorsThe biggest announcement of the day was the launch of the iPhone SE. Apple’s update to the iPhone 5s. Apple claims they sold 30 Million 4 inch devices in 2015 alone and hence they are not yet ready to let go of their small screen size loving audience. Packed with specs almost identical to the iPhone 6s the iPhone SE is offered up at US $ 399 for the 16 GB version in the US and will launch in India for Rs 30,000 for the 16 GB variant.

Apple’s A9 chip powers the iPhone SE, which is the same chip that powers the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. That means the new 4-inch iPhone will be two times faster than the iPhone 5s with three times better graphics performance. You will also get a 12 MP camera and Live photos, but the iPhone SE does not support 3D touch.

    iPad Pro 9.7

Apple’s update to ResearchKit, now called CareKit has a whole slew of new features to allow users to monitor their health and share it with loved ones and care professionals like doctors. This opens up new opportunities in the health care system and allows people to manage everything related to their health or treatment online on iCloud and on the go.

Care Card helps people track their individual care plans and action items, such as taking medication or completing physical therapy exercises. Activities can automatically be tracked and entered using sensors in Apple Watch or iPhone

Symptom and Measurement Tracker lets users quickly record their symptoms and how they’re feeling, like monitoring temperature for possible infections or measuring pain or fatigue. Progress updates could include simple surveys, photos that capture the progression of a wound or activities calculated by using the iPhone’s accelerometer and gyroscope, like quantifying range of motion

Insight Dashboard maps symptoms against the action items in the Care Card to quickly show how treatments are working; and

Connect makes it easy for people to share information and communicate with doctors, care teams or family members about their health and any change in condition.

Moto X Force : Everything We Know

After storming the markets with the Moto X Style/Play, and Moto G Turbo, Motorola is all set to bring to Indian customers its new smartphone, the “unbreakable” Moto X Force. The phone which claims to come with a ‘crack-proof’ screen, will soon hit the Indian markets. The smartphone will launch in India tomorrow with an expected price tag of around $624 (Rs. 40,000 approximately) and $720 (Rs. 47,000 approximately) for the 32GB and 64GB variants respectively.

    Design

    Moto X Force

The X Force has a lot in common with other Motorola phones, and the evidence of it sharing DNA with Motorola handsets is available from the first time you lay hands on the smartphone. Having said that, there are subtle changes to the design scheme which make it distinct from the other members of the Motorola family. The device is flatter at the back with curved edges. It has a textured back panel to avoid costly slips out of the hand.

    Display with ShatterShield Tech

    Numerous-protective-layers-form-the-ShatterShield-panel

The ShatterShield Tech of the Moto X Force is a marvel of modern day technology and quite rightly is the one feature that the company is heavily banking on to drive the sales ahead when the handset finally makes it way to the markets.

The 5.4-inch 2,560 x 1,440 panel (QHD) panel is protected by a five layer system which has allowed Motorola to brand it the “world’s first shatterproof smartphone display” thanks to what Moto calls the ShatterShield technology. The company claims the screen would stay intact for up to four years absorbing shock and providing protection against cracks.

    Under-the-hood Specifications

The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz. There will be 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM on board, and it will be available in 32GB and 64GB inbuilt storage options. The phone will support expandable storage up to 200GB via a microSD card slot, and will be powered by a mammoth 3760mAh battery with Quick Charging support.

    Camera

Motorola’s new super tough Moto X Force packs a 21-megapixel snapper with an f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash and Phase Detect Autofocus around the back and a 5-megapixel selfie camera at the front with flash and an f/2.0 aperture.
