Xbox turns 10 years old to celebrate console superiority.

Ten years ago on this date it all began, The Xbox was born and it brought mayhem to living rooms all over the world. The original black box with a PC processor and wires running awry was a direct competition to all existing brands out there. In 2005 the Xbox 360 was launched which is still one of the strongest selling consoles in the market, boosted by Microsoft’s release of the Kinect interface last year.

There are already reports of the Xbox 720 in the loom ahead, Hopefully the console can live upto its name and deal with the strong beating its gonna get from the competition, namely Sony.

  • Microsoft confirms 3D compatibility in Halo, Xbox 360 Remake

Microsoft confirms 3D compatibility in Halo, Xbox 360 Remake

Microsoft has finally confirmed 3D gaming for XBox 360. This comes almost a year after Sony added 3D support to their PS3. Joystiq experienced a demo at Gamescom in Germany, and reports that it only works with the game’s updated graphics mode, and that the game’s producer claims the framerate will stay consistent even in 3D. While there are already a number of Xbox 360 games that support 3DTVs.

Epic Games had also announced earlier this month the Gears of War 3 will also support 3D, but this is the first instance of game from Microsoft. Its good news for those already on the 3DTV bandwagon, but not too great for people who don’t want to loose their sight and hemorrhage their brains with excessive 3D.

  • 100 Disc Changing Xbox 360

    100 Disc Changing Xbox 360

How many times have you had to get off your beanbag to change the disc in your Xbox 360? Well those days are past. Ben Heck, self styled modder, tinkerer and designer, the creator of such wondrous mods as the PS3 laptop and the portable Ninetendo 64, has come out with another great mod. He’s taken an old 100 CD changer and combined it with an Xbox 360 creating a version of the console that can store 100 discs.

As we get more and more used to downloading and viewing content, changing discs seems so yesterday. As we all know, progress breeds laziness, and if that’s true, this mod marks true progress.

Unfortunately, not only is this mod not available for purchase, its also not yet completed. We can’t wait to see this thing in action.

  • Microsoft will launch a new Xbox at E3 2012

Microsoft will launch a new Xbox at E3 2012

According to a source close to BGR, Microsoft intends to unveil its next-generation Xbox console at E3 2012 next summer. The rumored console has been in development since 2006 and has been carefully kept under wraps.  Earlier it was speculated that the next revision will be called XBOX 720, But that really seems unlikely.

With Kinect already doing better than expected, It makes sense for the Gaming department at Redmond to improve the hardware in the XBOX to bring on the next generation of Consoles which will be ready to handle next-gen Gaming.

    Xbox 720 Coming in 2012?

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has been around for many years. It’s successor, dubbed the Xbox 720 is rumored to be released during E3 in 2012. A high level source from Crytek, the makers of Crysis, claims that:

Although no console specs have been confirmed, DirectX 11 – which includes tessellation, multi-threaded rendering and compute shaders – which has had a hugely positive effect on visuals, will probably be included. The Crytek source also claimed that Microsoft was likely to launch the new Xbox 720 before Sony launched the PS4.

Both Microsoft and Crytek have declined to comment on the matter.
