Xiaomi‘s one year anniversary announcements just keep getting better and better. After announcing the 32GB version for Mi4i, the company has permanently slashed the price for Mi4 64GB version by Rs. 2,000. The company had temporarily slashed the price of the Mi4 64GB variant yesterday at Flipkart, but now it is permanent. The phone is now available at a price of Rs. 17,999.
In the past, Xiaomi Mi4 has faced two price cuts, from Rs.23,999 to Rs.21,999 in April this year, and then to Rs. 19,999 in June. Xiaomi Mi4 has proved to be popular for providing hi-end specs at a lower price.
The Mi4 comes with a 5-inch 1080p display and runs on a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC processor with 3GB of RAM. The phone is available with 16/64 GB internal storage options. The camera on the phone is a 13 megapixel shooter with a wide f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP front camera. The phone is juiced up with a 3080 mAh battery.
Flipkart is also offering the Mi4 in exchange for your old phone, so you might get an extra discount of Rs. 5,000.
A few days ago Xiaomi unveiled its new smartphone, the Mi 4i, at a grand event in New Delhi. One lakh registrations went up and 40,000 units were sold out within 15 seconds. Now, reports from Gizmochina claim two more new devices will be joining the company’s line-up later in June. These devices are larger copies of the Mi 4, expected to be named Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus.
40,000 units of the Mi 4i went out of stock in 15 seconds.
The claimed specs of the devices were leaked on the Chinese social media site, Weibo. The Mi 5 is touted to have a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. It is believed it will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with either 3GB or 4GB RAM and will be juiced by a 3,000mAh battery. Its camera specification includes a 16MP primary camera. The device will also be infused with fingerprint technology.
Its larger cousin, named as Mi 5 Plus, will feature a 6-inch screen with 4GB RAM, 32GB internal memory and a 16MP primary camera. No details were revealed about its processor, display etc. Xiaomi has yet to reveal the date of release, but reports mention that the two handsets will be out in June.
Knowing Xiaomi’s track of getting “inspired” by everything that Apple does, we won’t be surprised to see the upcoming flagship in two variants.
Lately, Xiaomi has been in the news for all the good reasons. They’re constantly announcing high-speced affordable smartphones and earnings that are constantly on a rise. But seems like the good days of the company may be over played. The Chinese equipment manufacturer that took over Apple’s sales on its home ground a while back, is now witnessing a steep decline in its revenue.
Ben Bajarin from the market research firm Creative Strategies revealed the quarterly sales of Xiaomi. The figure shown below depicts a decline in the Q1 2015 from the last quarter of 2014.
Based on Xiaomi’s end of March statement they sold 100m smartphones in total, they did not have a good Q1 2015. pic.twitter.com/Bn9qwyKukW
According to the statement by Ben Bajarin, Xiaomi sold a total of 100 million handsets, which is less than its previous records. One of the major reasons for lesser business for the Chinese tech giant is the supply shortage. The flash sale model adopted by the company has worked both in its favour and against. When the company’s supply does not meet the demand, interested buyers begin looking for other options.
There is a possibility that the latest Mi phone may help recover the revenue. The new Xiaomi Mi 4i consists of the Mi 4 parts, which are easily available in the market. Their supply chain is expected to achieve an overall boost by this, consequently helping Xiaomi build its sales numbers. Let’s hope Xiaomi pays heed to these figures, and increases its units in the future.
The time for which we all had been waiting for has come. Xiaomi has finally pulled the curtain off the ‘i’ mystery and showcased the world, Xiaomi Mi 4i. The device has a 5-inch Full HD OGS IPS display with 441ppi pixel density. The screen comes with a new technology called Sunlight display that adjusts the brightness when outdoors. The processor powering the phone is a 64-bit octa-core Cortex-A53; the four cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and the other four at 1.1 GHz. The device has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage onboard. The phone doesn’t have a MicroSD card slot. There is an Adreno 405 catering to graphics quality. On the software front, the Mi 4i runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with the company’s MIUI 6 on top.
Coming on to the camera, then the Mi 4i has a changes camera setup. The forthcoming Xiaomi event is going to be grand in many ways. It’s the first time that the Chinese electronics firm has chosen India for Global Mi Phone Premier and today, Xiaomi announced another first. The firm came up with a statement saying that the global Mi event will be live streamed on April 23 at 3.30pm IST. Users can visit the official Mi page to watch the event live.
For now, the Mi page features a countdown to the event. On April 23, the timer will be replaced by a live streaming video for the Xiaomi fans. Also, the live stream of the event will be in English for the majority of the world to understand. The audience sitting in their homes can also participate in the live event by sending tweets with hashtag #MiLaunch2015.
As we all know, the launch event is open for all, and anyone from fans and media can walk in to witness the launch of the new phone.
Xiaomi teased the new smartphone with a tagline “i IS COMING”. Since then, much has been speculated about the forthcoming device. There have been reports that the next device is the low-end version of the Mi 4. A device with title Mi 4i was also spotted on the GeekBench3, which brought to light scare details of the phone.
Fortunately, there are just two more days for the new device to launch, and it will put an end to all the anticipations. Keep checking back for more updates on the next Mi Phone.
The Mi 4 was one of the top-selling products by Xiaomi, and it is still taking a lead with its amazing specifications and reasonable pricing. The Chinese consumer electronics firm has given one more reason to its customers to pick the handset over the 2014 flagship killer OnePlus One. Xiaomi has slashed the price of its Mi 4 handset, making both the 64GB and 16GB variants cheaper by Rs. 2,000.
The official Mi India website speaks about the refreshed price tag of the Mi 4:
The 64GB version will now cost Rs. 21,999 instead of Rs. 23,999, while the 16GB version can be purchased at a price of Rs. 17,999 down from Rs. 19,999. Users can buy it through Flipkart or The Mobile Store, whereas the recent online partners Snapdeal and Amazon will receive it soon. Xiaomi India Head Manu Jain notified about the same via Twitter:
Unlike the Mi Fan Festival flash sale that offered the Mi 4 at discounted rates, this price cut by Xiaomi is permanent. Also, it should be worth noting that the announcement of the price cut came a week before the Global premier of a mysterious new smartphone. The upcoming smartphone is speculated to be a low-end version of the Mi 4.
Meanwhile, we earlier surfaced the news that the company is working on a bigger sibling of Mi 4, the Mi 5. The smartphone is said to mark the debut of the new interface MIUI 7. According to official AOKP blog, the new interface is codenamed MiKangy, and will be a whole new take on the Android UX, combining the salient features of top ROMs like CM, PA, Omni and AOKP.
The Mi 5 is yet to go official. Till then, you can buy the Mi 4 through the links provided below:
A couple of days back Xioami sent out media invites for the launch of their next smartphone. The company disclosed that it will be holding a global premier of the next Mi phone, and both fans and press were invited. The Chinese startup updated its official Mi India page with a teaser that reads “i IS COMING”, and it seems like we now have an idea what they meant by the “i”.
According to the Chinese tech online daily GizmoChina, a new variant of Mi 4 has been spotted on the GeekBench3 website and Singapore IDA database. The device is possibly the low-end version of the company’s latest flagship, Mi 4. The reason it is considered to be launching on April 23, is its name. As per the source, the handset has been titled as “Xiaomi Mi 4i”, the last alphabet compelling us to consider it as the upcoming offering.
As the device is listed on the GeekBench3, we have some details of the handset. The Mi 4i will come with a 1.65GHz Qualcomm processor with 8 cores, along with 2GB of RAM and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Being a low-end version of Xiaomi Mi 4, the device is likely to be priced less than the Mi 4 (possibly around Rs. 16,000). As always, we expect Xiaomi to come up with something that gives a cut-through competition to the present offerings in the market.
Since the arrival of Xiaomi in India, the Chinese manufacturer has been selling phones through the exclusive online partner Flipkart. Now, the company is giving a boost to its business on the Indian soil. China’s largest smartphone maker has adopted the offline sales policy in the country and will retail its smartphones through the brick-and-mortar outlets of The Mobile Store.
The company head of India operations Manu Jain notified about the same with his statement –
This will be the first time we’re getting into offline trade in India. In China, about 20-30% of total sales come from telecom operators’ stores while the rest come from our online store – Mi.com
Now, one can walk into any of the 55 outlets of The Mobile Store in Delhi-NCR and own a Redmi handset. Meanwhile, the company has drawn out two models, Mi 4 and Redmi Note 4G for sale, and they can be grabbed at the price range of Rs. 19,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively. The sale begins from Saturday, 28th March, onwards.
Xiaomi Mi 4
For the moment, only the national capital’s stores offer the devices, but The Mobile Store will soon make them available in its 300 stores across the nation. The stores will not only retail the phones but will also offer repair service, as announced by Himanshu Chakrawarti, Xiaomi Chief Executive.
Meanwhile, the company’s association with the e-commerce partner still exists, and all the Xiaomi products will be available on Flipkart as always. The Indian online retail channel appreciated Xiaomi’s step and said that the brands sold on Flipkart are always welcome to explore alternative channels.
Redmi Note
Over the past year, Xiaomi has undertaken rigorous efforts to establish itself in the Indian market. It is building up its Research and Development centre in Bangalore and has inaugurated its India-centric online store Mi.com in India. Anyone can order authentic Mi accessories like headphones, power bank and other products from there.
It is also estimated that the Chinese electronics brand can start its own smartphone store in India if the offline programme goes well. The company has received tremendous response in the country for offering impeccable devices at afforable rates. Lately, it launched its new budget superstar, Redmi Note 2, in India which is available via flash sale on Flipkart. We hope that the trial proposal gets a thumps up and we finally bid farewell to the entire flash sale shenanigans as they have become tiring now.
OnePlus announced the arrival of the 16 GB variant of the One in India a couple of days back. The Chinese electronics producer had cautiously unveiled just the device and not its pricing. OnePlus today launched the new 16GB One device in India with a price tag of Rs. 18,999. The phone will go on sale tomorrow on Amazon India.
As mentioned earlier, willing buyers will require an invite to make a purchase. To earn an invite, the e-commerce website Amazon India started a contest where users have to answer some necessary questions. The randomly picked lucky winners will be awarded with an invite to buy a OnePlus One (16 or 64 GB). The new economical version of OnePlus One comes in one colour option only – Silk White.
Throwing light on its specs – the OnePlus One comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display. It is fitted with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM. The phone runs on Cyanogen OS 11 as of now, but it will soon be upgraded to Oxygen OS, when it is launched. The smartphone comes with a 13 MP rear and 5 MP front snapper and houses a 3,100mAh battery.
Xiaomi recently launched its last flagship, the Mi4 in India. As with all the other Xiaomi launches, it was embraced warmly by the fans of the company. One major complaint with the device was the lack of expandable storage on the device and the lack of a 64 GB variant in the market. Heeding to the complaint Xiaomi will be launching a 64 GB variant of the Mi 4 on the 24th of February.
On their Facebook page, the company has announced that the 64 GB variant of Xiaomi Mi 4 will be available for a price of Rs.23,999.
The Mi 4 features 5-inch Full HD Display. It is powered by a 2.5 Snapdragon 801 processor along with 3 RAM. The handset sports a 13 MP camera on the back and an 8 MP selfie snapper on the front. It gets its juice from 3080 mAh battery and runs on the latest MIUI 6. With this device, Xiaomi will be directly competing against the OnePlus One in India.
A couple of days back, Xiaomi launched its flagship device Mi 4 which comes with the latest MIUI 6 update. The company announced that it would soon roll out the update for Mi 3 based on Android 4.4 KitKat in India, and the company has kept up its promise.
Xiaomi has released the update for the Indian Mi 3 users, and one can download it from the official Forum page of Xiaomi. It will take some time for the OTA update to appear on the device. Meanwhile, other models like Redmi Note 4G will receive the update by February, while it will reach the Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 3G by March.
The new MIUI 6 has some fantastic features that are simple yet beautiful. The key features of the new Mi User Interface are Motion, Colour Content, Customisation and Security. Also, it introduced animation to apps like Clock, Weather, and Device unlock, etc.
The Dialler has been tweaked to give it a clean look. Now, users can identify unknown numbers, and avoid fraudulent and sales calls. There is a brand new notification panel that has toggles for convenient on and off. Also, the Notifications is divided; so one can classify important and unimportant as per preference. Also, it facilitates you to access notifications through the Lock Screen itself.
The MIUI 6 adds more than 5,000 themes and powerful tools to achieve more in less time. The Calendar has been improved to subscribe your interests ranging from games, holidays to TV shows and more.
The long wait for Xiaomi’s Indian fans is coming to an end. For those who were anxiously waiting for the Mi3 to make a return for a Flipkart flash sale, this might be a bit disappointing. But for those who were eyeing the Mi4, it’s time of a happy dance.
In an exclusive interview with Indian Express, Xiaomi’s India Head Manu Jain, said that the company would be bringing the Mi4 to India on the 28th of January.
The Xiaomi Mi4 flaunts a 5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display. Its processing might comes from a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and possesses 3 GB of RAM. The device is available in 16 and 64 GB variants. It is powered by a 3080 mAh battery.
The Mi4 sports a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera and the device runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system.
The price of the device is expected to be around Rs 20,000. So if you were waiting for the Mi3 and had saved for it, you have about nine days to gather the rest of the money before the stampede begins.
